Today Went to a green line installed by ice energy, their customer support is awful, they fit and forget literally, biggest issue was customer had rads up stairs and underfloor down, they advised him to take off all the underfloor zone heads and not connect each room sensor, this would of been fine if both floors were underfloor but the hp had been set up to a rad circuit design which meant the hp was aiming for 50c flow to suit the rads ( which I'm sure are too small). So what was happening was downstairs was always open and rads were never getting a chance, plus underfloor was running at 50c which was bloody hot. Changed the weather comp curve from 5.2 to 4.3 and advised he connects all the under floor controls up so he can at least get them turning off once satisfied, only other option would be a mixer valve and thermistor ( if the pump allowed) to set a differant temp for the underfloor flow.

Rather confused here. Were the heat curves increased for the higher rad temps via a buffer tank and did you check that, before you adjusted anything.
Is it 2 thermostats. one for each floor?
If you have reduced the heat curve which is normaly max 4 for UFH then you may have reduced the heat output.

It's got 1 stat that's upstairs with the rads, the underfloor has no control until all the stats are connected up, the underfloor is just far too hot so I've lowered the curve to lower the flow temp, the underfloor is unbearable at the minute, I've showed the customer how to set the curve so they can change if needed. I've left curve at 4.3 as was worried it may be a bit too low for the rads if we went any lower. As said was set to 5.3 running straight through to underfloor so no buffer which was far too hot, as said above they really need a valve and sensor to send out 2 differant temp settings for underfloor and rads.

Forgot to ask this before. What was the customer problem and why did he not follow the info he was given?

    Thanks Ecokev.
There should be a buffer tank with 2 stats, one for each floor. Turning the heat curve down will reduce the pump flow temps down for each floor, so you will reduce the rad temps as well

Got called as he has inherited system, no documents and understands nothing, plus was a big shocked when he saw prog stat in every room and the heads hanging off the wall above manifold, he is going to get the stats on and working so that should improve things, biggest issue is all the underfloor is sapping heat away first so not much heating getting to up stairs, I turned the flow off to the underfloor and the rads were working a treat, so the cheapest quickest thing to improve his system is just to get more control over the underfloor as if this gets up to temp and shuts down he should get more circulation through the rads, did I mention the rads look small and piped in 10mm. I've asked him to call heat pump manufacturer to see if we can get a valve that would separate the underfloor and rads and possible run on differant flow temps but I'll wait for his call on that, pumps a 15/60 as well on 350m2 of floor, I advised I'd of gone 25/55 minimum

Hi all, I am in the middle of buying a house with GSHP, I never really heard much about them until now.

It has a Thermia Diplomat TWS 6ES fitted if that means anything to anybody out there - I have a good understanding of its principles and basic operation but I would love to know more about the particular model or range.

I was also wondering if the RHI will apply to systems already fitted as this was fitted in 2006 to a home where no mains gas was/is available and a cleaner source of heating wass required by the owner.

Part of the Furniture 100 Posts Combo Breaker
RHI only applies only applies to installations post 15 July 2009, most unfair to pioneers of renewable heating IMHO
