They are stupid if they buy French cars based on that belief, I buy whatever make of car that suits my requirements best. I don't really care where it is made.

Well, so long as it was Japan anyway.

Not strictly true, I did have Nissan Bluebird that was made in the UK, excellent car, totally reliable.

Of course they have since been ruined by Renault.

More the howling mob that thought how good the Germans would be compared to the British, and how much better run it would be?
  • nissan blue birds are amazing
my friend uses them all the time for banger racing which is a shame but they go on for ever on the track sometimes even lasting two meetings. they are just tought hard cars he prefers cortinas and old granadas but they are becoming hard to find. he tried to use a rover but the head gasket went before he got to the start line lol

Of course. I blame renault for being able to fool your heroes in the first place. You'd have thought the Japanese would have known how bad other car makers were?

Mmm, well with comments like these it is no wonder the country is in a mess.

Nice to know you think that a BMW X5 was devepoed without any input or help for Land Rover.

Sad that the only people that could see that all Rover needed was to sort out the stupid idiotic selfish Unions and to inject a bit of money for product development. But then the Chinese are a nation of Engineers, most of the Government are Engineers, ours is made up of selfish toffs, champagne socialists and Lawyers. New Labour would rather spend money ensuring a rapist or illegal immigrant that kills a young girl when driving illegally is given Legal Aid to ensure he rights are upheld, than ever think about making sure the Nation was as good as it could be.

The public services are full of these kind of self serving fools, targets are the only important thing.

Short sightedness and ignorance have ruined this country, aswell as the kind of petulance displayed in some of the above comments.

Ever wondered why a Lotus Elise, what engine was in them for years? Never had a really bad reputation for head gaskets? Maybe they were better maintained, the water capacity in a Rover K series was actually quite small.

How many people hanker after buying and restoring an old Datsun or BMW, not as many as those that hanker after an old british car thats for sure.

The problem with the british car indistry was lack of investment, after all it was the British that started the German car industry, not the Germans, and with sensible investment and public support look where it is now.

  • i test drove a lotus elise once and then the sales guy told me it was a similar engine to the k series just large capacity and i ran off and put stingy nettles in my eye - i had saved up for it as well

The problem with the British car and Motor Cycle industry was poor management, poor design and poor quality control.
