I really want to get into the habit of this this year, as i find it helps me to not waste food.

I tend to do things a bit differently though, i make a list of 6/7 meals and get DH to choose what he wants day by day. Nothing gets wasted as any leftovers are frozen or used for lunch etc.

    1) HM Pizza
    2) Meatballs and pasta
    3) Beanbake
    4) Fritatta
    5) Fish and HM Chips
    6) Roast pork dinner (will be sat or sun)
    7) HM bacon/pot/sausage quiche

I must make sure i do this each week, as i run the cupboards down i want to start doing a lot more batch cooking and freezing portions. As i find it all too easy to slip into using convenience food, which i hate myself for!

    Thanks for the inspiration ladies

I've decided to meal plan properly as I went through the freezer yesterday and even in our small one, we have enough meat and "ready" meals (homemade) to last us until the end of the month. :o

    So this week, starting today...
    Sunday: Roast chicken
    Monday: Pasta w/ tuna
    Tuesday: Chicken curry
    Wednesday: Sausage and mash (vegetarian)
    Thursday: Red lentil soup
    Friday: Lasagne (vegetarian)
    Saturday: Kedgeree (DH's favourite)

Now to check whether the chicken for tonight has defrosted yet, otherwise the next few days will have to swap around! (Edit: It had, so no change :))

    Hi

Longtime lurker/occasional poster, trying to get back in the habit of meal planning. I did start a while back but since I got promoted at work and have been doing shifts and silly hours it went a bit pear shaped. So I am starting the new year trying to get more organised and not give into the its late/I am tired/got nothing easy or quick to make lets have a takeaway moments. Its just me and OH to feed and water. Last week I did a bit of batch cooking so I have started to make some inroads.

Breakfasts either toast or cereal and lunches soup or sarnies/rolls. Sarnies are mostly filled with whatever we have in already ie turkey/mayo, tuna/mayo, ham. Pretty much everything this week is from the cupboard/freezer apart from a bread & milk top up sometime in the week. Evening meals:

S - Roast pork, roast tatties, HM yorkies, carrots, HM gravy and HM apple sauce
    M - HM spag bol
T - Sweet and sour pork in the slow cooker + noodles
W - HM breaded chicken burgers or breaded chicken pieces
    Th - Burger & chips
    F - SC chicken casserole & rice
S - Maybe HM chili con carne

As I am working late this week OH is in charge of at least Monday and Thursday evening meals :)

Snacks - hm jam tarts, also got a hm plum and apple pie for dessert tonight & enough for another night in the week.
Let's get ready to bumble! :rotfl:
