Well just a wee update re: my dress freak out..... I met with the nice seamstress on Friday and she's 100% happy that it can be done but agrees it's a big job that not many would take on. So I've left my dress with her (scary!) and she's going to sort getting it cleaned and ordering in fabric to change from a zip to a lace up back and then I'll go back so she can check for length etc. Exciting!
It was mentioned that the cost would bring it up significantly and I may just want to give it up and get a different dress but I welled up at the mere thought of not wearing that one! So I can relax about that now! Phew

Ellie B what have you got sorted so far? I find once you start going through everything you have more done than you realise :)

    How come Pern?
    Good news Cathy :)

We ordered our wedding rings yesterday :D I'm having mine made to fit round my engagement ring (it's a weird shape) and he's having one polished on the outsides and brushed in the middle for a different texture - it's really nice. And they gave us £90 off for getting them both there, yay!

Wow well done! I've managed to crack on with wedding things finally but have also done the bulk of my xmas shopping, I've let other things slide instead like the housework!

Your menu sounds great but I'd avoid soup, people are generally too worried about dropping it onto their outfits & tend to avoid it so I'd go for something else.

Ooh lovely, I decided against getting a ring made to fit my engagement ring as I felt it would spoil it & look silly if I ever needed to wear it by itself (My engagement ring really is an unusual shape!) but I'd love to see yours when you get it!

It turned out my OH got it wrong & not a single usher or best man has a black suit! We have grey, navy, black pinstripe & charcoal pinstripe! Which I think would look a bit silly in the pictures so we'll have to hire suits for them too, my Mum said not to worry about my Dad & she'll sort that, & my OH's Dad has a black dinner suit anyway so at least that's only 4 more to hire instead of 6!

It looks like we're going to come under budget for the DJ - I think I have found what I'm after for only £250 rather than the £350 I budgeted for, so that should cover 2 out of 4 suits! Regarding DJ's though, did any of you meet your DJ first or just email each other? How do you know he's actually going to be any good without seeing him or her in action?! I am worried as I know a good DJ is vital for a fun evening reception & I really want to see people up & dancing & having a good time, & it's extra difficult for us as we have people with such a broad range of tastes coming (As in from pop to metal!!!) He has a great range of music already which leads me to think he'll be ok in that sense but I'm just not 100% sure!

I've also started ordering bridesmaid dresses from Debenham's sale - one of my sister's is concerned even their biggest size (22) isn't going to fit her but it's arrived now so just need her to try it on & fingers crossed it'll fit & she'll feel a million dollars in it else it's back to the drawing board!

My invitations are also coming along nicely - finally! I think I have finished the main design & now just need to work on the RSVP card & inserts (I'm doing pocketfold inviations).

I'm continually looking at honeymoons still & think if the last minute deal falls through we'll be going to Orlando, Florida as we can do that in our budget still!

Sorry for the long post, been busy :o

  • We got the mens suits sorted today! Woohoo! 5 suits for £265, all in - suit, waistcoat, shirt, tie, cufflinks :D so chuffed! Things are definitely getting there! Even getting a wee bit of fabric from the warehouse so we can take it and match the best-"person"s suit properly :)
  • Hello again everyone!

We've chosen our rings and are just awaiting the final confirmation of price so we can pay for them :D

I haven't done much weddingy stuff apart from that, although I've been Christmas shopping. I'm attempting to not spend as much as I normally do on people so I can save more for the wedding.

Work is manic, although I've been ill since half term and am finally getting better (dreadful cold, feeling sick, dizzy, hungry and deaf in one ear - no good!)

Spoony sorry to hear about your inspection - do you kno the outcome? Hope it was a good one x How is your half term?

Becca, we got what we deserved from this inspection :) Each inspection so far we've gone from strength to strength so hopefully they'll ease up a bit on us now. Half term was rubbish tho, as I was ill :( probably all the stress of the week before!

Best person? I'm being nosey! My OH is having a best person aka his best friend who is female and she went with my OH to sort suits out and has chosen what she can and will sort a blouse out to go with it etc.

It sounds like everyone's being busy! I CANNOT believe I've been engaged for 8 months already, and that there's only 7 months to go! Aaaarghhh! We're on the count down now!
Planned our wedding, still planning lessons

Yeah same with my OH but I refuse to say best woman because that should be me lol. We're going to try to find a nice fitted womans suit for her to wear, she's so petite no hired suit would fit her properly!
