Welcome scrasie and part mouse. Very exciting to see more June brides :)

Had a tough week here - OHs grandad passed away who he was very close to. OH is really really gutted and is very upset he won't be here to see us get married.
On a brighter note, we booked our honeymoon flights last night. Not sure if anyone else is going to USA but we are going to Orlando and had been holding on to book flights as they were £800+. Checked skyscanner last night and there must be a sale on - we got both flights for £700!! Bargain. And we are going in the summer holidays which should technically be most expensive. Very excited.

    Welcome new brides :)

Sorry to hear about OH's grandad Bec :(

Quite exciting news here... I bought my wedding dress yesterday. £130 from Oxfam :D
  • Hi everyone

So very excited to come across this thread. I am getting married on 9th June 2012.

Have really tried to get a lot of the stuff out of the way early to minimise stress, so have sorted ceremony/ venue, my dress, bridesmaids dresses, cake, photographer, wedding website, save the date invites, accommodation for guests and just looking at flowers and wedding rings atm.

I also read the cheap wedding tips on this website, which was a great read. Will be excitedly following this thread too.
    Happy planning everyone xx

Off to get invitations printed this morning :)

  • Awww Becs, sorry to hear about your OH's grandad :(

I hope you had fun at the printers with your invitations - every little step makes it all the more real!

I've had a naff week - inspectors were in out school last week (Arggggghhhh!) and I left for half term with my second cold of the term :( Am now recovering but my throat feels like barbed wire is entwinned in it :(

Oh well, on a positive note, I spoke to my bridesmaid at the weekend and it sounds like she's nearly sorted my hen night out! Eeeek! However on a negative note, my parents are going around telling "long lost" family members whom don't make the effort to speak to me about the wedding and so they are questioning whether they're invited and my parents want me to invite them. My response was "it costs £XX per person, with 8 extra people it'll cost £XXX" - if they want them invited they can contribute to the cost of the reception (which as it stands at present, they aren't doing.)

    Pfffft!
Planned our wedding, still planning lessons

    Hope you feel better soon!

So annoying when people start sticking their oar in, even married people seem to have no concept of just how expensive things are unless they're very recently married...I hope you can work it out.

At least your hen do is pretty much sorted, hope your friends have cooked up something good for you!

I had my first wedding related dream last night...it was not good!

We were married, & at the end of the day even in my dream I recognised that was the important part, but so many things went wrong & it just looked a mess - I'm fretting again about how it's all going to turn out as I am great at having ideas in my head it's just things rarely turn out that way! I hope it all comes together instead of looking like a disaster.

I really must make some time for wedding planning soon - got an appointment with the suit man finally so will be doing that this weekend, but really need to crack on with my invitations too as despite meaning to, it's not actually happened! Cannot wait until we have some time off next month as I might actually get something done then!

  • I'm freaking out. I've had my dress since June and took it to a dress maker last night to see if she could do the alterations. Without going into too much detail (paranoid someone I know will find me on here and my dress wont be a surprise!) taking up my dress will not be an easy job. I always knew this but now she's terrified me by refusing to do it, said she doesn't think it can be done at all but if I find someone who will do it go with them. I did find someone who said she could (for at least £200) but now I'm scared that she thinks she's better than she is, that she'll start and mess it up. And my mum is now saying that it may come to giving up on this dress and getting a different one :'(
It was such a billy bargain, at 275 euros and perfect (except for the obvious) I spent last night crying and not able to properly tell OH why :(

I still feel like crying and not being able to talk about it is killing me! MOH is being fab despite being in a different country and is coming up with very helpful suggestions but I just feel so pessimistic about it all :(
  • Hi everyone! :j

I've lurked on these boards for the last few weeks, but seeing as we have set our wedding date this week I thought I would join in!

I'm marrying the love of my life on 7th June next year in Corfu Town. My OH proposed when were on holiday in Corfu in August, and as we both wanted to get married abroad, we thought it would be special to go back to Corfu.

It's lovely to find a place with lots of people in the same position as me, I don't want to bore all my friends with constant wedding talk!
