  • Becca, I think I've just been busy (tho I have been keeping updated on what everyone's been doing, I just haven't been posting.)

I bought some more wedding shoes today, slightly shorter heel which'll help when in the evening if my feet hurt PLUS they were discounted! I didn't think they were so it was a pleasant surprise! :D

Also, with regards to cakes, I was shocked that I went in knowing what I wanted and the woman was very helpful and informed me that the more intricate the details are on the cake, the more expensive they tend to be due to the time taken to make them. The OH and I are re-adjusting our design and hopefully when he decides what flowers he wants for button holes we can incorperate that into the cake!

Tomorrow I'm off with my gran (and mum) to look at possible wedding outfits for themselves and then hopefully I'll get to see my OH at the weekend as I've been at my family's house for the past two weeks and I'm feeling a little lost without him :(

I haven't really done much more weddingy stuff, tho one of my bridesmaids is getting married the year after me so I've been getting excited about her plans...

Oh and I think I may have gotten by dad to actually hire a suit for the wedding... I don't know how it'll match in with the OH's stuff, but I suppose cos I don't have any brothers or ushers then it should be ok for my dad to be a little different...

Definitely try Monsoon, Debenhams, John Lewis and House of Frazer for mum and gran outfits - they were all really helpful for my mum!

    Thanks Gem :)

We've tried Debenhams (but the one where they are is quite small so not much there) but I think if we go to the city centre near them we'll find a bit more.

The OH's mum is going for pink, my gran wants lemon and my mum is looking for a purple/blue colour.

  • Yeah, House of Fraser have been really helpful with my OHs mum. They're happy for her to keep going back and trying different styles and she's going in on Saturday complete with the accessories she's bought to check if they go with the dresses she's considering (she can't decide between two!)

    Hi ladies,

Please can I join you? We are getting married on 16th June 2012! All we have booked so far is the church and the venue, I am currently trying to negotiate with a marquee company as we have to sort all the bits and pieces including catering ourselves, which is a pain but at least we can pick and choose what we want!

Welcome! I know what you mean about choosing what you want, too many places don't allow enough choice I think. Hope the rest of your planning goes well.

    Question ladies:
What are you doing with your train for the evening? I was thinking about a loop around my wrist but we're having a ceilidh so I think I'll struggle to dance easily and a friend at work had mentioned bustles. I've been looking at photos all evening and think I'm going to have a bustle - what are you all going to do?

You know what, I haven't even thought about this! I imagine I will go for a bustle, as much as I like the wrist idea I think it would just get in the way, think of the amount of hugging you will probably do as people finally get a chance to speak to you & congratulate you personally.

Can anyone help with wording for day invites.

    We are thinking of:

    X and Y
    Together with their parents
Request the pleasure of the company of
    ......................

    at their marriage

    on.... at.....

    and afterwards reception at....

    Does this sound ok?

Sounds fine to me, there's plenty of different variations out there though if you're not set on them, give it a google!

finally i have made up my mind and it's now been purchased.

    i won't be doing white.

it can be taken up and made into an informal dress for after..

only taken 6 months to find something.. aggghhhhh

That's lovely! I'm glad you had the guts to go for full colour like that, I was torn between finding something with colour that still felt wedding-like, & eventually settled on my blush dress. I still occassionally wonder if I should have gone for a deeper colour though as that's more me...but I hope I have made the right decision!

Sounds like you've been very busy :) I can't decide on a cake at all yet, seen so many gorgeous ones but don't know what to do or how to make it a little different! Back to the drawing board...

My mum got hers in John Lewis in the end, dress is Phase Eight and jacket is Kaliko - best thing about John Lewis is unworn, you can return it whenever so if by chance she sees something she prefers in the meantime, it can still be returned!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Oooo spooky to log on and see messages about mother outfits!! We went out yesterday for the day and came across a bridal shop that had a MoB sale. My mum found a beautiful outfit reduced from 750 to 250! It's Ronald Joyce and beautiful! So now I've got to try and find it for her.

The offer for brochures took a while, they'll keep sending you offers for other things so just click the link to show activity on the site. They will come! I remember I saw them and missed out and then had to wait a while (then got two offers for them!)
