Wow Rahven if you can fix the stitching yourself that's a mega bargain! :j I wish I was better with a needle & thread. Take a look at Becca's spreadsheet, I have found it so useful & I think you will too :)

I have had a bit of a result today - I have been stressing over the cost of things so much lately & then today I went to my dress shop to make another payment (almost half paid for now yay!) & to see if the shoes I found in Debenhams are a good colour match for my dress...& they are PERFECT! I can't believe I have managed to find such a unqiue colour for only £32, & I found some nice flats that although not perfect colourwise, will be fine for the evening do if my feet are killing me for only £14 - £46 for 2 pairs of shoes & I'd budgetted £50 for one :D
    :idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57
    :dance:Current Debt: £0 :j
    100% paid off!
 Savings Goal for November 2016: £5000
    :D Current Savings: £1176.24 _party_

    Nice going Pern!
And yep, Bec's spreadsheet is awesome :D Has really helped me keep track of the costs so far.

Think photographer and flowers are next for us. May ask OH's Mum to do flowers since she does lovely arrangements, just need to finally get around to checking what's gonna be in season!

hi girls, ive just read a few of your post about giving notice and to be truthful ive never gave it a thought as im getting married in church and booked that!, im i right that i have until at the very lastest 2 weeks before the wedding?
and do i need to make an appointment?

i got my bridesmaid dresses last week, (just waiting for 1 of them to arrive from milton keynes!) they were in the sale and the very colour and style that ive been looking for since last year!!

my daughters flower girl dress should also be here in a few days,
all the stresses are starting to disappear, im just waiting for something to crop up and start the stress all over again.

has anybody thought about wether to buy the grooms and other guys suits or are you all hiring them?

To be honest Micky I don't know, but the CAB website says:
"The Church of England and the Church in Wales are allowed to register a marriage at the same time as performing the religious ceremony.
Ministers and priests of all other religions can be authorised to register marriages and must have a certificate or licence to do so from the local Superintendent Registrar. For Jewish and Quaker marriages, the authorisation is automatic. For all other religions, if the official performing the ceremony is not authorised, either a Registrar must attend the religious ceremony or the partners will need to have separate religious and civic ceremonies."
Which suggests to me that you don't have to - maybe have a look at their website http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_family/family_index_ew/getting_married.htm and you could always give your local registry office a ring to check I guess?

Well done on the dresses - gotta love a wedding bargain!

Not thought about the suits yet though I suspect OH will want to hire. Might have a look in the sales though :)

Yay! We've arranged a time to give notice... 10th August :) (It's the next time they're available and when H2B has a week-day day off.) Am very excited, tho have gotta find the appropriate paperwork, tho I've finished work for the summer so will have time to find it :)

Oh and micky my H2B is hiring his suits as I'm hoping he'll go for a navy blue suit and he rarely wears a full suit tbh so it's best to hire, tho my dad's gonna have to have his waistcoat made as he's a big guy and most places don't seem to cater for him :(
Planned our wedding, still planning lessons

  • Hello lovely June brides, sorry I have been a total stranger recently... was starting to get a bit fed up with all the wedding stuff so took a little break! But am now back and firing on all cylinders!! Reading through the thread it seems everyone's plans are going really well! And after hearing fantastic things about Becca's spreadsheet, I too would love a copy!

Bridesmaid dresses are bought.... I thought this was going to be stressful but thankfully all 4 girls love the dress... they fit... yay!! I have also tried on a few dresses myself last weekend.... nothing decided on yet (except that I LOVE lace!) and going to another shop next week to try some more. Haven't given notice but appointment is booked for 1st Aug.... will feel so much better when that is out of the way! Oh, and we also have made our DIY moustaches and lips out of Fimo for our photobooth - they are amazeballs! I will post some pics soon when I work out how!

So, what is everyone up to this weekend? I know a few of you are teachers, so no doubt will be hitting the wedding planning hard these next 6 weeks! xxx

spoony my h2b also very rarely wears a suit, but i just find it shocking to pay £90+ each to hire the suits (5 mens and 2 boys) and take them back 2/3 days later! my dad keeps say go to Asda, they're only £25 but we dont want black suits we want grey or brocade patterned, maybe tails ect. i wouldn't mind hiring the waist coat, cravat and hankichief, or even the suit if i can get them cheap enough! any suggestions

At the minute i dont have any plans, but every day i think i should be organising something for the wedding or searching to see if i can get things cheaper than the quotes we've had. and if i do nothing im feeling a little guilty........maybe im just a bridezilla :rotfl:it has been said:o!!!
