  • Thank you :)

For my bouquet i'm hoping to have peonies as the main flowers and then something like lisianthus an sweetpeas and some greenery to bulk it out. Want something quite soft with lots of texture. Hopefully going to have a mini version for my 3 adult bridesmaids and then for the button holes the florist suggested lisianthus with rosemary, which i thought sounded nice, something a bit different.

What is everyone else hoping to have flower wise?

hi every1, i thought i best pop in and see how everyones doing!
ive only flick throught this page quickly so not sure how far every really is but it seams like everyones on track.
kaz your invites are great, i haven't really thought about mine!
pickle sorry for your loss, im sure he'll be there in spirt on the day x

my dilemma with the dress is now sort as ive found a dress designer to make a huge hollywood dreams inspired dress, with a very long train at half the tag price!
my list of things to do is shorter now; ive booked the photographer, paid deposit for both wedding rings(his is costing more than mine :-o) and won a watch on the raffle that they were holding on the day!!
ive met with a couple of florists and need to decide do i go with the cheapest quote, which my venue manager has said "you get what you pay for" or the one which is £100 more and has actually made the design of the bouquet ive seen in the past.
booked the lady that will do the chair covers and the table decoration.

And have tried to get a quote for extras if we can afford them such as bouncy castle, outdoor games, magician, candy floss machine, sparkly light up dance floor ect. and the guy emailed me back after a few days with£1950, i asked him to break it down to individual prices and he never got back, so my partner text him asking to reply to the email, he didn't so i sent him another email and again he hasn't replied.
Ive said we should call him and ask if theres a reason why he hasn't replied; it maybe genuine, but my partner says no we aren't going to use him even if he might be the cheapest; He's unreliable as when we first called him he said to email then the email with the quote say to call him and now he just doesn't reply! what do you think?

Mickyme - what kind of timeframe is this over? He might be on holiday or something you never know.

Glad you're managing to get the dress of your dreams for half the price, nice work! I don't know what to advise with the flowers, I am trying to sort that myself at the moment, do you think the cheaper florist would still do a good job?

Pickle - Your flowers sound lovely, I love lisianthus :) I'm thinking of amnesia roses with vermeer calla lillies as the bulk of my bouquet as advised by 2 florists now, but maybe with some orchids or lisianthus too.

Becca - Thank you for the pm I will give her a call, is there a website I can look at? I tried to google it but couldn't find one.

Pern its been about 2-3 weeks but when i emailed him after the quote he sent it was only the next day but thats why i said to my partner to phone him to see if he has a genuine reason:think:!
but im on a role!today i went out with a pair of shoes that id bought as my wedding shoes
to find all of my bridesmaids shoes in similar style or colour but found a bargain nude/beige colour reduced £6 pair in primark so think i may have to change to these also!
not only as i was planning on having a very soft blush pink for my dress and coral/pink shades for the bridesmaids so dont think these will match but for the price. as i can't decide i would rather have bought all 7 pairs and have a debate for a few weeks than leave them, debate then go back and they dont have them anymore:o.

ive tried to add the pics of them but can't!

    Hi all,

Sounds like everyone is doing really well. We gave notice at the start of this month so job done on that one. We have put deposits on most of the major things for now (venue, cars, photographer, videographer, florist, cake, chair covers) but still need to sort the DJ - we have had a few quotes so far but nothing under £1,000 really time all the lights etc have been added in - shocking!

I am going to order my dress in 4 weeks time now too after one final visit to the bridal shop to view the new seasons collections.

We would really like to have something during the day during pics etc for the kiddies, something that doesn't cost a great deal and so any ideas on that would be really welcome.

    Thank you!

Have you thought about some of those giant snakes and ladders games you can get online? We had them at a work party recently and the kids LOVED them!

Just as an eg - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-1-Giant-Garden-Games-Snakes-And-Ladders-Twister-/360376926058?pt=UK_Toys_Games_Outdoor_Toys_ET&hash=item53e8237f6a
We also had one that was a giant foam jigsaw, that went down very well :)

Hmm, depends how good his prices are I guess, if they're good then try & get hold of him but if it's comparable to elsewhere it might be worthwhile looking around more!
I'm having trouble matching shoes to my blush dress too, Debenhams have some possibilities in but not in my size! I'm only a size 4 as well so it's not as if I'm after the most popular size, I'm hoping they will have more in next week like the shop assistant told me.

Omg, please tell me you are joking about the prices of DJ's?! We really want a band but don't think we will be able to afford one so are reluctantly going to look at DJ's, but I've only budgeted £500 for that! I can't believe how expensive everything is getting :(

Nice one Becca! I wish I could order mine now but my sister isn't due until August so we don't know what size she'll need.

    Little update from me:-

We gave notice yesterday so all the important legal bits are in order, yay! I was feeling really excited but after a couple of email exchanges with my venue I've sunk into a bit of a funk :( Basically I asked for a revised quote from our caterer a few months ago, not sure if any of you remember that, but yes finally got that through from our venue instead of caterer & all is ok there...but she has added a £500 charge for table linens

I clarified what exactly this entailed & it turns out that's for the table cloths & napkins in white & purple, the bar, & staffing for moving the furniture around after the wedding breakfast, ready for the evening do....

Now perhaps this is my fault, but as this charge was never mentioned before I assumed this was included in the hire charge! I don't know what to do as that seems really pricey to me, but our contact at the venue is ever so nice & I don't want to offend her...but I just feel like costs are spiralling out of control now. The extra charge for that, combined with the flowers being more than I budgetted for (still not made a decision on that one!), the rings being more than I budgetted for (again, still not made a decision here), & the idea of a DJ being double what I imagined it would be is making me feel overwhelmed - I really don't know what to do unless we don't have a honeymoon?! We were already going to put that on the credit card & I don't want to rack up thousands & thousands of debt for one day. What can I do or do I just have to suck it up & pay for it?

Eek sorry to hear that Pern, I can imagine how you might be feeling :S
Do you have a contract with them? If so what does it say about charges etc? I think I'd be tempted to go through all the written info you've had from them and check with a fine toothcomb!
Are you able to voice your concerns? Not necessarily in an OMG I can't believe you're doing this way, but maybe say you're getting a little worried that with all these extra charges you won't be able to afford to get married anymore or will have to drastically reduce the services you are purchasing from them? I am sure they'd rather come to an arrangement than lose you altogether if they think that's a possibility?
