Bit of a prob, went to town today to check against the material for the waistcoats and may have to change the bridesmaid colour!
TBH I've had enough 2day, my dress doesn't fit since my doctor changed my tablets, then the materials didn't match, bus fares went up so I nearly had to walk home with all my shopping and to top it off I've forgotten half the veg for the dinner tomorrow, which wouldn't have been a problem but my sister's borrowing the sewing machine for a month and I got 2 pirate costumes to make for a couple of weeks time! :0(
    And breathe......
Sorry guys, got to keep reminding myself I do have 10 months to sort it out!

Aww Kaz sending positive thoughts your way! I hope you've managed to calm down a bit at least & relax. Any luck sorting things out?

I'm not sure of the designer or name but it's ivory with dark red embroidery around the bottom and throughout the body. It has a fantastic train with more red detailing on it and it's just so me :D I LOVE red and like having things that wee bit different so it's perfect :) bridesmaid dress is the same shade of red
    So chuffed!

Everyone else was scaring me by being so much more organised than me so I feel like I've caught up a little bit hehe

    That sounds gorgeous! Pic please.

How lovely - that's so nice!
What is everyone else working on at the moment?

A million & 1 different things! I'm not following those checklists you see on wedding tip sites at all lol.

Still looking around at florists to see if anywhere can do it cheaper, I'm finding most florists round here to be SO unhelpful though! I gave a florist fairly specific details of what I'd like & she basically told me their prices are on their website (I'd already seen but it's no help as the flowers I'm after are more expensive then whatever their "from" prices are!) She also said she couldn't advise on the bouquets without knowing size (uh, standard sized bridesmaid posy?) & ages (again, I stated 4 adult, 2 flowergirls - 1 requiring a smaller posy of the adults & 1 with just a wand) & needed to book an appointment. I'm sick of seeing florists who give me funny looks because I don't seem to know every single flower type out there & am trying to stick to a budget :(

Also looking at rings - this is proving far less stressful than florists & have an appointment with Taylor Made Rings tomorrow. We didn't go to Birmingham in the end as OH was hungover....lol, so will do that later on in the month.

I'm also still on the hunt for a decently priced honeymoon, & trying to decide if I want to risk booking it last minute for a better price! Any thoughts?

Ah Pern sounds like you have a lot on your plate! I could highly recommend our florist but not sure if it's too far?
We are going to Florida and hoping to book our flights next month to get a good deal. It depends where you want to go I guess.
Guess what?! I'm going to be in a bridal magazine in a feature about good and bad dress shops! Will keep you posted!

What's the trouble with the dress & is she a plus size? Maybe it's nothing to do with you but she's just feeling really self conscious all of a sudden & would much rather attend as a guest, rather then be put in a dress of your choosing with a lot more eyes on her.

Edited to add the reason I ask if she's a plus size is because 1 of my sister's is & was really hesitant about being a bridesmaid because of it, took a few months of reassurance that she will get a say in the dress for her to say yes![/QUOTE]

She hasn't chosen a dress, i told her she could have any dress she wanted, but just the same colour as the other bridesmaid dress.
No she is not a plus size, must be a size 8, so im twice the size of her! ;)

Oh well i am over it now. It saves on the hair/make-up and trials and gift. So will save me some cash :D

  • Hi guys,

Thanks for all your recent support, I've stopped feeling sorry for myself now, well at least until the next rant! :rotfl:

Looking at the material situation differently, means I can have a look at colours again and see if I still want the same, although this time I'm gonna buy the waistcoat material first as the shop has loads of the type of material I need for the dresses in tons of colours. :D

Can't do much about my dress except wait and see! If it still doesn't fit early next year then I may have to search for another!

Well done for thinking positively over the bridesmaid problem Danielle, I cheated and pointed out the dress I'm making to them with "if you're a bridesmaid, you'll be wearing this dress in a different colour!" :)

Hope you find a florist pern. Luckily, for me, it was one of the things I didn't have to look for.

Still haven't spoken to my caterer friend, but been looking at bringing food price down and been doing quite well although the day before the wedding could be too busy if I end up doing the food as well!

Started on the invites, finished a couple and mighty pleased with myself, just have to work out how to upload pictures on here.

Eek ok forget the bouncy castle/magician idea. To be honest I think if you can set up a DVD (choose carefully, you need something middle of the road to appeal to both the youngest & some of the eldest, so something like Toy Story 3 or Despicable Me might be good! Not too babyish but not too adult either) & make up some DIY activity packs that would be great but still on a budget, I can't think of much else you can do without basically having your kids babysit them non stop instead of enjoying the day with you!

It's just for the time between speeches and evening guests arriving so I don't think they'll mind too much!
