Since lots of the meat is individually priced it's probabaly the case that most of the people who have bought packs glanced at the item to see the quality of meat - so it's also safe to assume that they may have also looked at the price.

Isn't putting it in your trolley and handing it to the CS tantamount to agreeing to that price? What if CS then argue that against refunding you?

I agree totally with your argument in principal however the fact remains that the meat is being advertised at a lower price hence an overcharge.

People will always claim that they assumed that they would be charged the lower amount....

  • Sorry to bang on but isn't this an urban myth to justify serial r n r?
Yes there are misprices but I've regularly checked my bills over the last five years since working for one of the other supermarket chains. It doesn't happen every time, in fact for me it rarely happens once a month.

Does anyone go back through the store to check the prices of veg etc?

The meat seems to be a relatively easy target since two prices are displayed but your post seems to indicate that lots of other things are mispriced, but having watched the misprice section for some time this doesn't hold up, and I'm referring to the groceries, not the electrical/cd/books stuff. At the moment lots of those misprices are from leftover offers which haven't been removed - I would put that down to human error rather than Mr T 'trying' to overcharge, although the end effect is the same.

it could provoke a different view ;)

whilst you are there, check for undercharges....probably find that it more than balances out!:p

Eddie, the justification of serial r&r has been widely discussed on the ethics thread and basically each person will eventually either dismiss it or justify it to themselves.

R&R is not going anywhere whilst the policy exists and there will be some that shun it and some that exploit it to the maximum, its an individual thing.

I agree with you that as a percentage the problem is not as huge as some would have you believe and can be made to look far worse than it is by huge amounts of people scouring the shelves looking for mispriced goods.

I am sure I and many others could give you a list as long as your arm of mispriced goods from every department within the store. That isn't to say Tesco are the only culprits.
  • A few months back I bought 3 copies of Angling times, each one had a free tackle box, and some stuff for my lunch. When I got back to work I thought I had been overcharged.Checked the receipt, sure enough, cashier had scanned 4 papers.Phoned customer services, asked for my address, and said they would look at it. Two days later I got a little card with £2 on it , 60p more than I was owed.Quite chuffed.

  • Well thats just greedy, we just take back what we are rightfully owed and not a penny more let alone 60p!!!!! that's just greedy
I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Ramada/Days Inn BRG thread.
  • Nope Tesco.

No query, nothing, just we'll look at it. Then a gift card through the post.

In fact, it's the reason I no longer use ASDA.
