  • Well i went to Tesco in Horwich last night after plucking up loads of courage to do my first R&R and i got nothing!! Wonder if they are reading this thread!! I scanned two phones that have been posted on here as being a mis-price and they came up at the right price. I was gutted because both me and MrY need new mobiles. Most of the SEL's now say 'offer expires 07/11/2006 and 07/01/2007. It also says that you get money off if you spend £40 or more on your grocery's, but being skint, i don't want to spend £40 on groceries, only to have the phones go through at the correct price.

Not one to give up straight away, i went to the meat aisle, but again, everything was correct!

In fact, i spent about an hour looking for misprices, and found none! Did enjoy having a mooch though, and i had to get some things in anyways. Chatted to a young lad at the tills and he put through four vouchers for me, saving me £2.50, so i can't complain really.

Still an R&R virgin though. :( If anyone knows of any stores near me where i can still get a mobile, please could i have a pm, don't want MrT to know, eh??! :D

Dave, it doesn't work like that. You can only R&R if there is a lower POS (point of sale; could be SEL, poster, DVD/game advert on big TV instore, sticker, possibly also storage box or leaflet). The POS must be in the store when you make the purchase, not in another store or on the website.

Sorry, you just have to look for the wrong POS in several stores, keep looking and noticing prices, in the end you will be a walking price-list and a wrong one will 'jump out' at you and fall into your trolley!

    Happy shopping. :j

  • CS, are defo trying something on in certain stores, Last night picked up Breadmachine, CS tried to give me the diff. I said that is not what the board behind you says, she giggles to the duty manager next to her and says oh he spotted the policy.

I mean what is this all about are duty managers getting it in the neck for all the r&rs in their store? Are they being recommended to try the diff, approach first from further up the ladder, or are they just trying to cover their own !!!!!!.

If I was a little senior in years would I not be easy prey for them, I think there should be some sort of directive to uphold their own policies at least.

    Rant over...
    I had a plan..........its here somewhere.

after you have had rnr you can always get your points added a different day and HO would be none the wiser that you would of been refunded due to an overcharge. So as T says Every Little Helps.

I don't understand why you (& many others) are so 'hung up' about points. If you've had some nice RnR's why worry about 'peanuts'. The advice from many experienced R&R's on here is good. Clubcard - DON'T USE IT

Tesco Expresses seem to price higher than other Tesco's im my area.

    Robbing the Chavs I suppose.
  • I don't get why you don't use a clubcard. Obviously different people have had experiences that are not good with it but personally I've always used mine and no details have been taken from me or the reciept so how can it be traced back and used to identify me?

I could understand if the reciept number or clubcard number was recorded or even name and address as that is identifying yourself but up to now all thats been written down is the bar code from the misprice and the two differing prices.

I'm probably being dense as anything but can someone please explain how anything is gleaned from the situation as I outlined above?

You gave them all your information when you registered your clubcard!

It registers everything you buy and tailors the vouchers you get with your clubcard statement to what you buy, if you get a refund it will record that too!

Just because you dont give them the info doesnt mean they dont get it!

Members here who have had multiple R&Rs and used their clubcard have had points removed etc. Also it highlights you as a serial R&Rer!

This is highly improbable.........dont they have scanners then!!
Some of the scanners don't scan the codes very well so some cs have to put them on by hand in total.

No, there will be differences between stores in different regions. For example you will find items more expensive in London compared to the rest of the country.

    Fair prices
We understand that customers want low prices, but they also want fair prices. That is why we charge the same prices up and down the country. We sell our products on the basis of a national price list available for all to see on our website. Even in the few locations that are unable to support more than one supermarket, where we are ‘the only supermarket in a town’, we continue to operate on the basis of our national price list.

If you read the next section down it states
    Prices in smaller stores

Our prices are a little higher in some of our town centre and neighbourhood stores because costs are higher there. Stores in town centres are typically smaller and have higher overhead costs (mainly rents and rates) per square foot of selling space than those outside the centre. Higher overhead costs are spread over a smaller volume of sales, and can only be recouped by charging prices that are, on average, higher (prices are 2-3% higher in our Express stores and in a few of our Metro stores than in our larger stores on the edge or outside town centres). We believe it would be unfair to use our big stores to subsidise the prices in our smaller stores, so we don’t do it. This way everyone gets a fair deal.
