what is the nested trolley concept ? is it large items hiding smaller items ?
Its a fairly standard shoplifting trick, not a secret or anything. For obvious reasons I do not feel comfortable making a "how to shoplift" post on an open forum. The name gives it away.
For the same reason perhaps not a topic for this thread?Who or what was I before you came in to my life
I am not sure0 -
Edindevon wrote:From your example here, what exactly are people getting their own back for?
If some customers forget some of their shopping and Tesco staff keep it back for them, then really they've done all they can. I think the extent to which some people on this thread want to portray Tesco in a bad light can get pretty ridiculous.

Yes T do hold the shopping back for them but if the customer doesnt come back for it then T have made profit.
In no way at all am I portraying T in a bad way, they treat customers and staff well.If this has helped you please don't forget to click Thanks, thankyou.0 -
lucygotit wrote:how can they trace that you have been refunded other than it being wrote on your receipt, and also no clubcard swiped when refunded. They don't ask for your details when refunding on an overcharge so how can they match it up to you when adding points on on a different day with different CS lady, they can't.
you should know this
You buy the goods
you get r&r
They take the transaction number from the purchase receipt and log it against that r&r refund number.
you get the points added
The purchase transaction number and the fact that you had the money refunded is recorded via the transaction number
This shows up on their system they nick the points back
you get store ban0 -
Hi Everyone
After reading this particular forum, this lurker was finally tempted to de-cloak and post his first post...
I apologise in advance if I have missed the answers to my questions already - I did read the forum, but may have missed them. I only have a couple...
1, Where is the policy advertised in store? At the CS Desk or the electrical desk?
2, Have any of you ever gone into the store for just a major R&R? Such as a TV? If so, then how do you complete the transaction, paying the full overcharged amount to then say, "I think you have overcharged me?" - This would be obvious at the time of scanning wouldn't it? - I'm just worried that they'll see me as someone that knew exactly what was going on and was just waiting for the transaction to be completed.
I'm thinking that if you are getting a large R&R, then it would be better to have some shopping to "flesh" out the bill and help you in your confusion.
3, How do you check the price of a large item such as a tv or computer at the self-scan points without looking dubious?!
Thanks!

Too true.
If you act normal and not not look suspicious, don't keep looking around you, then all should be ok.If this has helped you please don't forget to click Thanks, thankyou.0 -

I can confirm that they don't treat staff well
staff get paid just above the minimum wage.
They get treated poorly !
If your off sick- you have to attend "welcome back meetings" (the start of disciplinary action for being ill)
Tesco announce record profits- staff get rewarded with sandwiches
oh so much more0 -
I bought my phone on its own I just said that I had been overcharged, never been asked why I didn't notice at till. If I was asked I would just say I thought I had made a mistake went back after paying to check and actually I haven't made the mistake Tesco have.0

Couponing....."every little hurts"
Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

At the store I go to I take a small handful of receipts (mother in law doesn't have clubcard - so i have her points) and they put the details in manually as a whole and not individually, hence them not scanning the barcode. If this has helped you please don't forget to click Thanks, thankyou.0 -
leadhead wrote:What............Now you are saying you got double refunds AND still got to keep the goods............thats a bit hard to believe....these CS really need a re-train....or sacking.
This is on the level, straight up.
It is a Tesco Metro Store, the first time it happened the CS had to fetch the duty manager to explain how to do the refund. The manager then instructed the CS to put the refund through twice as I listened in amazement. I almost had to pinch myself as I walked to the car pushing my lager laden trolley.
When I got the Smirnoff Ice a different CS did the same thing, I am assuming the manager has mis-understood Tesco policy and has trained up the CS staff incorrectly. As it is a smallish store I wonder if the checkout girls take it in turns to go on CS.
I am going back their tomorrow (20 miles north of me), to see if I can find any goods and to see if it happens again. On both occassions they never marked the receipt, on the second occassion I let them keep the receipt as they asked whether the could and I only had chocolate and spinach for the rabbit on it. A bit soft really as in hindsight I gave up a £34.56 golden R&R receipt.
I put it down to the shock of my second double cash refund.0
