hotdog82 wrote:can anyone advise please bought a phone today for daughter legit when i paid at till £20 discount did not come of went to cs desk was offered £20 cash back said no as i told her knew about tesco policy, manager came said it was not a r&r because it was classed as a discount and checkout person should have pressed to authrise the reduction at checkout so would only offer me £20 back i refused and said i would call head office tomorrow any advise guys
What phone was it?
either way you were overcharged, it isn't down to you to apply discount, one of the phones that I got was on the red leaflet, I paid £99 and should have paid £79, manager over ruled CS and authorised r&r0 -
I would say you have still been overcharged and entitled to rnr. If the operator had noticed it and informed you to go to customer services thenno you wouldn't be entitled to rnr but as she didn't then I would say you have a case to fight with HO. Go for it!If this has helped you please don't forget to click Thanks, thankyou.0

I know about the Clubcard rule but i hate carrying money around and use my CC for everything.
Cash for all R&Rs and no R&Rs for less than £20.
I think of it as each R&R uses up a life.
My son pointed out that scanning SEL's with an empty trolley looks suspicious, he was right, so now I put a couple of 12 packs of toilet rolls in my trolley, looks like a weekly shop going on on the CCTV.
When you have gathered your mispriced goods, dump the toilet rolls.0 -

Anyone else come across this today?Hermann wrote:Yes.
They had a printed email that had them checking all the items you would look at from reading these posts !
They missed one at my local S Wales store!:j :j :j :rotfl: :rotfl: :T :T0 -

So true, its all about tactics !, I really can't be bothered with food items anymore. Don't waste exposure time with a packet of chicken breasts (it aint worth it, to much arguing for so little return)0 -
Monster_Deals wrote:Tesco has stolen hundreds of pounds from me over the years by illegally overcharging. The scale of mis-pricing cannot be accidental.
As far as I am concerned I am now getting my money back, with interest.
I can understand this. Tesco have just, putting it politely, "deprived" me by promising significant extra clubcard points as part of an open-to-all promotion (ie not mailshot vouchers, but genuinely open-to-all). The points have not been credited, and neither the clubcard department nor the subsidiary department selling the service are willing to help me by crediting the points - each blames the other and refuses to help, which means I will have to resort to trading standards.
It makes me wonder how many other people are deprived in this manner, many without realising their loss, and shocks me that Tesco staff aren't appalled that they've made a mistake of such magnitude and aren't bending over backwards to fix it. This is not the first time this has happened to me, though the magnitude of missing points is 100 x greater this time.
For everyone here who takes them for some R&R, you can bet they've easily made a hundred times that figure from other customers through overcharging. It is unlikely that their mistakes have left them out of pocket overall.
I have always been aware of this thread but in the past chose not to pursue it. After my recent experiences, I think they deserve everything they get as they are content to ignore customers who have been left out of pcoket.
I for one shall be on the lookout for medium-to-high value R&R from now on. I am sure it will take me a while to recover my losses from Tesco, but at least the legality of my process is not in question. I suspect the legality of not fulfilling clubcard points promises is more dubious.
After all, just how hard would it be for a computer to generate a printout of all offers expiring on any given day, and for the staff to trawl round the store once a week removing out-of-date SELs?
If they were determined to get things right, they would surely do so. In all other aspects of their business they are a lean, mean, efficient machine, a benchmark for other businesses in how things should be run. It seems strange that they slip from being first rate in distribution, developing new businesses, squeezing suppliers, etc, to third rate in this area...0 -
after you have had rnr you can always get your points added a different day and HO would be none the wiser that you would of been refunded due to an overcharge. So as T says Every Little Helps. If this has helped you please don't forget to click Thanks, thankyou.0

Remember, don't use your clubcard though0 -

One store I farm gives double cash refunds, this has happened twice now, the first time on 48 cans of knatts !!!! lager the second time on 32 bottels of smirnoff ice.
They do the following:
1. agree thet have overcharged, out of date SEL.
2. For the knatts !!!! (cost £37.80) gave me a £75.60 cash refund.
3. Gave me the goods.
It's their policy they know what their doing !!
Went back the week after, smirnoff £34.56 cost, gave me £69.12 cash refund and I kept the goods.
I do like that store.0
