Many thanks to Deadhead and Outtathaway :T :T for giving me the courage to pursue R&R on the 2 mobiles mentioned in http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=3347171&posted=1#post3347171 Post 2851.
Went back yesterday afternoon and showed a Dept. manager the large display stand with all the mispriced phone, she had the whole display removed within 3 minutes. She stated that the new offer was £20 off if you spend £40 and I'd had that so I had done better than the 10% offer.
I explained it was unlawful to display incorrect prices as it was misleading and contrary to consumer law. She then offered me the difference - £10 on each phone as she said the offer was out of date. I pointed out Tesco's R&R policy and she refused to budge even when I said I would report it to Head Office. So I asked for a full refund on both phone which she gave me.
Today I phoned our local Trading Standards, A lady there told me that it matters not when the offer expired in they have left the price on the shelf that is the price you should pay. I was also told that if Tesco refuse to fulfill their stated R&R policy, they would be breaking the law and to phone Tesco H.O. She also advised that it would have been better to have kept the phones before calling H.O. as I had now accepted a refund and given the phones back, which indicates that I had come to an agreement.
Armed with this information I called H.O Customer Services in Dundee on 0800 505555 and a very helpful lady told me that the Dept. manager was wrong and offered to call the store and would call me back. 5 minutes later the lady from H.O. called and said that if I go back to the store they will give me the phones, which I was more than happy to do.:j
H.O obviously have this on record now as I had to give my name and postcode, but it was worth it for £199.94 of R&R.
When collecting the phones I saw the store manager who was not happy with his Dept Manager and informed me that she would receive the appropriate training about the shop's policy. :rotfl:IF THIS POST HAS BEEN HELPFUL - PLEASE CLICK ON THANKS :j0 -

On our way out my husband decided we need Diesel.... he filled up, I paid and off we went home, well not quite... broke down 2 miles down the road... he had only put petrol in instead of Diesel
Breakdown have recovered our car home and tommorrow it goes to the garage to find out the cost to repair  _pale_
NOT SUCH A GOOD NIGHT EH!!
My husband done the same 2 years ago
Our car only got about 20metres before it died, but our tank was empty then fully filled on £45 worth of petrol!
Think it ended up costing £100 if i remember rightly to tow away and empty the tank, thankfully it didnt do any damage.
Good Luck

You can get away with 20% petrol in your diesel.
I did this once, put £10 worth of petrol in my old Citroen BX.
Friend in the trade said fill the rest of the tank up with Diesel and I would be OK, I did it and I was. Apparently when it is really cold many HGV operators use petrol to 'thin the diesel' in their lorries. It also stops the diesel freezing.0 -
SpudGunner wrote:But the goods they have given you for free have not really cost them the £100 or whatever it says on the ticket (as that includes their mark up), so by taking it back and getting the cash it is actually in effect going to cost them even more.
And lets be honest, at the end of the day we are abusing their systems, its not really like you have been ripped off as stated, as most people on here are buying the goods on purpose knowing that they should get an R&R.
I do personally think that like I have seen mentioned on these forums that we should only really go for items that we want, not just going for anything and everything.
But good luck to you anyway, your choice.
Tesco has stolen hundreds of pounds from me over the years by illegally overcharging. The scale of mis-pricing cannot be accidental.
As far as I am concerned I am now getting my money back, with interest.0 -
Its not so bad putting petrol in a diesel car its when you do it the other way round it tends to be more serious.0

leadhead wrote:Mr Kennedy....please dont start on this theme again....Monster Deals likes to brag by making his acquisitions known to everyone....which most of the posters on here don't particularly like....but he is a wind-up merchant.
Having said that....he is correct and fully within the law on this....it has been discussed to the point of almost getting the thread closed by the mods.....If you go back to the previous thread, or better still to the "ethics" thread, you will see the conclusions drawn.
Thanks Leadhead you are all heart !
I don't think charting my R&R progress is bragging, it is to encourage others to 'go for it' !
Yes you are correct I do enjoy a little 'wind-up' occassionally.
Actually it was you who encouraged me to think through the 'Golden R&R' refund logic, when I first started I would not have done it.
But as it is both legal (most importantly) and logical and profitable, I am now all for it. Happy Christmas Leadhead (assuming you are a christian).0
