Hey Dude - we all have different views on R+Ring and I fully respect your views, so please don't take this as an attack.
But the language in your last post sounds like the language of a guilty man. You might as well substitute the phrase "R+R" for "shoplift" in your last post, because you seem to regard R+Ring as a wrongdoing.
I don't know if this is because you genuinely feel it's wrong (if this is the case, I respect your view but don't agree with it) or if you've simply been worn down into the ground by all the underhand and devious obstructions that various Tesco staff have put in the way of honouring their policy. If the latter is true then I think it's understandable, but very sad, that you feel that R+Ring should be conducted with such unease and stealth.
I'll never accept that R+Ring is wrong in any way. I'll continue R+Ring to my heart's content for as long as Tesco continue to operate their policy and continue to overcharge on their goods. I'm afraid I'll never agree with you that it's sometimes best to walk away from a clear-cut R+R simply because they're getting dirty about it.
But each to their own - if your style of R+Ring works best for you, then I respect it, and wish you the best of luck.
The issue of me planning to sue for defamation of character isn't exactly because of bans or polite refusals to honour the policy; it's because of a series of allegations about me which I feel overstepped the mark and were entirely unfair and untrue. Premeditated R+Ring may be irritating or vexatious, or whatever, but the rules are there in black and white... it's NOT illegal and their policy gives an absolute promise of a full R+R, regardless of the customer having prior knowledge of the till price.0 -
I disagree with our much valued member Constantine ! and this especially for our newbies readers.
Constantine said we need store permission to take picks on Tesco property. Better ask the Queen if we can have Buck Palace in our background shot. next trip to London. :rotfl:
No really, all larger Tesco Stores are "open access entrances", the isles are the public walkway for we customers to make offers to buy. We have not had to ask permission to enter the doors, they dont stop, search and check our ID or swipe our clubcards, or check if we are from Trading Standards, or undercover from Morrissons, or even from Microsoft to check the display of Xboxes are corrrect for our employer. :j Dont get any ideas guys.
We are lured or "invited" inside the stores with all there lovely offers, and to tempt us to see all there goodies for sale.
Secondly: We have no choice in them taking our picks and filming us in there stores, and they can use or store that info without our permission.
The legality of taking our own picks is called estoppel to those law students.......ie " you cant have your cake and eat it".
Hope this gives you assured confidence to take picks and protect yourself "in the unlikely event c/s staff dont add up"....every little helps. :iloveyou:0 -
I thought that the land was privately owned and not a public right of way. Therefore Tescos can ban people from their premises????0

Duder, I'm with you on this one. I was in my local, your next local Tescos on Thursday and helped myself to 4 XBox 360 games. I don't even have an X-Box but it occurred to me that I could sell them on ebay. But my concious took hold of me and I just took them to the Customer Service Desk and asked them to be more vigilant with their pricing.
My view, to take them would be morally wrong as it is akin to shoplifting£160.00. The pricing department was straight on the case checking all games. Staff in my opinion were quite rude - not even a thankyou but I felt I had won the moral ground.
My view, and it is only my view having had loads of refunds in the past totally hundreds of pounds, is that I hate Tescos with a passion but doesn't mean I have to go out of my way all the time to, in my words, legitamitely shoplift from them. I've not been ground down by Tesco staff, at first it was a good game, but now I question myself!!0 -
To add to your comments in your last post Taxiphil - As I see it, Tesco do not put any terms or conditions alongside this Price Promise (apart from the bulk buy) so I do not see how they can then get shirty or miffed if someone uses that policy to their own advantage, no matter how many times they choose to do so. Tecos's only problem with the shopper should be the fact that they have overcharged them, not that they keep reappearing at their CS desk with a complaint. If that is the case then obviously the last resort is to TS to report Tesco for continuous mispricing of their goods.DTD - Doing Tesco Daily - while I still have vouchers!0

You should have filled your boots, mate. You might think you got a moral victory but they must have thought Christmas had come early. Believe me, you don't win any points in life for being a Good Samaritan where Tesco is concerned.
And can I ask why you go looking for misprices if you don't plan to buy them? If you don't want the items yourself, wouldn't it be more prudent to tell other MSE-ers about them on the misprice thread, rather than telling Tesco about them?balloonist wrote:My view, and it is only my view having had loads of refunds in the past totally hundreds of pounds, is that I hate Tescos with a passion but doesn't mean I have to go out of my way all the time to, in my words, legitamitely shoplift from them. "legitimately shoplift"? There's an oxymoron if ever I heard one.0 -

No I've just grown up a little. Misprices were already posted and I'm not sorry I had a moment of being a good Samaritan. Too many times I have seen people on this website going on about visiting lots of different stores R and Ring the same items which clearly they are going to flog on. There are only so many mobile phones, for example, that one person needs.
I'm just going through a phase when I'm finding it all too sad. I work in retail and have had to deal with seasoned shoplifters and I'm seeing little difference to some people's posts on this forum.
Sorry, but just my view today0 -
[QUOTE=MarineBoy
Think about it - a dubious trader has XBox advertised at £280. Gets dodgy staff member to await a buyer in the aisles. Innocent shopper pays £330 at the checkout and complains to CS. In the meantime the label switch has been executed by staff member so that SEL is now £330 and everyone 'plays dumb'. It's straight out of 'The Sting' or something! The illegal trader makes money by only 1 in 5 shoppers noticing the overcharge and only 1 in 2 of those asking for a refund at that stage.
This MUST mean that there will have to be - if there isn't already - better control over SELs when they are removed from the public shopping area due to a staff-recognised misprice![/QUOTE]
In all seriousness and with some logic.... have you ever been in a large supermarket and seen enough staff knocking around to be guarding either one or a few high priced SEL's....? dont think about it too long..
Totally agree about your post a bit further down ( I have nt worked out how to double post quote yet.. ) about previous customers being overcharged and having it brought to their attention by someone who bought the same item in store and recieved a refund which has had since a correct SEL placed on it. Maybe this is something someone with some legal background could take up with Head Office?
I love this thread.. might still be a virgin R&Rer.. but one day eh... (suppose it would help if I stopped reading and started shopping..0 -
Typical 16 year old son tells me today he wants an xbox 360 - what the chances now of getting any games mispriced!!!!0
