Oh and I bought a poppy on my way out of store - refund still in hand -suppose you could say Tesco paid for it - perhaps I should buy another !

Then decided to go back into store and buy more bits to do another Christmas gift aid box for the kids to take into school. The mos did a double take when she saw me walk in again.

Regarding the Sentinel CCTV system that links face recognition with clubcards..
Even if it was true (And i'm not implying either way) - they would only know who you were once you've scanned your clubcard? which is at the very end of my time in Tescos, What are they meant to do, by the time they've re-wound the CCTV footage, followed my movements around the store, queried parts, i'd be back at home again!

Nothing above was meant to cause arguements, just a thought I had!

Well I dont know that for sure do I?

Anyway, regardless of the facial recognition, tying up the clubcard to the security system in that way ISNT what the clubcard is there for is it?

I'm sure most people signing up for clubcard are not aware that it can be used to alert security guards at other stores as to if you have had a refund in another store!

And for that matter, why are security guards allowed to review what I've bought on my clubcard??[/

This is particularly alarming and cannot be right. No input from constantine and spa2k is on ouzo break.
Could either of you comment please?

Fairy story. Begins Once Upon a Time, has a full set of dwarves and a brace of ugly sisters. imo.

  • I notice that a certain question remains unanswered, about how to deal with the labels being corrected between put-in-trolley time and CS time:

There seems to have been a lot of noize on the thread lately which can obscure these important issues. I don't agree with too much 'gloating' either. Something tells me that 'low key' is key here.

Anyway, apart from the poster's thoughts about using CCTV as a weapon against them in the case of label swapping, it is clear that a silent 'partner' would be useful to discreetly keep an eye out while other is going through CS - so as to check for last-minute label swapping.

Also mobile phone photography could be useful - although they still might bareface it out - but at least it would be evidence for HO. It does look rather strange though to be taking photos of packs of meat and their shelf labels - I know from past experience! Another point is whether it is actually allowed to take pictures in-store. I remember getting chased for taking a photo of the policy as I left the store after a CS/Manager argument some time ago. Needless to stay I declined the security guard's offer to go back inside, but I'm still not sure of the legalities.
    This too, shall pass.

Photography is not permitted without permission.

  • Have been with these threads for quite a while now, but not really sure why people keep going on about reporting to Trading Standards?

What for? I am quite happy to continue R&Ring. If people are being overcharged and they dont check their receipts then that is their lookout.

Re above post, on my R&R's so far, have taken a mobile phone piccy and then gone with the member of CS staff to check SEL to make sure it is not removed by them and then denied that it was ever there.
  • Just saw this on Newsnight - where they preview the next day's papers.
The Financial Times has a mini-headline in the banner saying 'Tesco is watching you'. Can't make out the detail, but one to watch out for tomorrow.
    This too, shall pass.

To teach Tesco a lesson. Or because that is the legal/moral thing to do.
