You're right that the supplier funds the special offers. But just look at the suppliers behind the BOGOF products... Protcter & Gamble, Nestlé, Unilever, Masterfoods, CocaCola, Colgate Palmolive, Cadburys, Walkers Crisps (part of Pepsi)....

They can hardly be described as "little guys" - they're huge multinational corporations who turn over big profits, and these offers are just a part of their business strategies. Believe me, it doesn't "hurt" them when their products are on BOGOF - their prices are vastly inflated in the first place to ensure that they're still profitable even when they're on special offer.

    Exactly!

Its the total stitching up of the farmers I hate, reading that article makes me sick.

I always try to buy fruit & veg etc at farmshops or farmers markets, sometimes you find they are cheaper than the supermarkets anyway and even if they are a bit more expensive, at least you know its going to the people that deserve it!
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

It would seem that my local Tescos: Cannock, Brownhills, Lichfield and New Oscott Extra all have a new way of dealing with the xbox game misprices....

They either display all games with a £39.99 (within a few pence) SEL or they just remove the games from the shelves entirely by hiding them in the trays below the shelves

Lego Star Wars, Just Cause, Splinter Cell all removed form 3 of the 4 stores

So if you buy a game form any of these stores then you might pay less than the SEL but never more so no R&R's at all

    Still not had a single R&R :(:(:(

Also a new poster has gone up with FEAR as the new XBOX game of the week at £37.97 but theres none on the shelves and looking in its chart position the SEL has been removed and a different game put in its place
That's criminal, too....same legislation applies (giving misleading price indications contrary to the CPA). It doesn't matter if the SEL shows a higher price or a lower price, the fact that the price is incorrect and, therefore, misleading, means the store is breaking the law. Giving no price indication is against the Price Marking Order, so they can't get around it by failing to put up any SELs.

    Even noticed Netto's peppers(3 colours)earlier @87p; pretty sure Mr T's identical packs are £1.78.
I realise, though, that neither is being saintly to the producer and often venture to, experience the sharp end in, France.

  • Hi Folks

Ive seen a store displaying both the Xbox games (Star Wars Lego and..erm,the other one) for £37.97 each but theres no scanner in that store, do you think these are a dead cert? Just querying before I pop out.

    Thanks.

PS Good luck for this afternoon PlushChris

I'd say dead cert. It's not a problem if they do go through at the correct price. Forget your wallet, or change your mind. Simple, really.

That's really interesting - everyone on here should read it. Really funny to hear about exactly the same thing happening on the other side of the Atlantic!
