I'll have to look out for Shop & Stop stores when holidaying in the US. Only thing is if you get banned over there and sneak back into the store are they allowed to shoot tresspassers.

Also would there xbox games work over here?:p

After reading that I suddenly fancy going on holiday to Massachusetts with a few empty suitcases!

but that would assume that tescos are an efficient machine who always get everything right

It's fairly likely that he will bring up the subject of MSE. Are you identifiable by your posts on here? Just keep reiterating the fact that you're not doing anything illegal and you always thought Tesco were happy to give free items rather than incur huge fines from Trading Standards for illegal overcharging (you know the script - Prunella Scales TV ad - customers are actively encouraged to look for misprices). Stand your ground, keep it amicable, but expect him to keep twisting the situation to make out that you're the problem, not Tesco.
