    Hi Mrs Bones,

I remember my mum being a bit nervous about pork but I reheat it all the time and have never had any problems.

This thread has lots of recipes for using leftover roast pork so I think many others also do it. As with any other meat, just make sure it's kept properly chilled until you want to use it and ensure that it's piping hot before serving.

Leftover roast pork - suggestions please

Once you've had some more replies I'll add your thread to the Quick Questions on food safety / sell by / use by dates

I always reheat roast gammon, so as it's just a different cut of pig essentially I'm sure it would be fine.

It might go a bit dry though, so something saucy ( ;) ) like sweet and sour, curry, or with gravy might be best. HTH

    Hi there,

As long as it is piping hot and you only reheat the once (no reheating the leftovers of the leftovers) you should be fine. I tend to get one big chunk of meat and do all our meat meals for that week from it. The other week we had a roasted leg (knuckle end bone in) for Sunday dinner, pork stir fry on Monday, pork, pumpkin onion and garlic pasta on Tuesday, pork pizza on Wednesday, pork risotto in Thursday, pork and Broccoli lasagne (economy gastronomy one) on Friday and pork stew on Saturday, not forgetting 4 lots of pork and stuffing sandwiches. All from a piece of meat that cost £12.60!

I'd just make sure its piping hot! My mum has always been a never re-heat pork so was always cold stuff from joints. But my step dad believes otherwise, so slightly reheated pork gave me food poisoning (not sure if he wanted to get rid of me lol) so dont trust him cooking pork anymore. If I'm not sure now I'll bung it in the microwave to finish it off. Better being safe than sorry!

Hi, i have been going through my cupboard and have two bread mixes, one plain white with Best before 18Aug2010 and one mixed grain with Best before 14Sep2010. Will they be ok to bake with or should i bin them?
  • They'll be fine, they might not rise quite as well but that should be the only noticeable difference, if any.x
