I understand that Pink has to be careful, but I cast another vote for the good old "sniff test". If it passes, make it into a lasagne ASAP. All of these dates err on the side of caution, and it won't suddenly grow a fur coat on the stroke of midnight on some arbitrary date. At least it's still the same year. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Thanks everyone - don't worry I won't sue or hold anyone responsible if I poison us, just wanted to have a few other opinions. The lid is sealed and not swollen, and I will have a good sniff of it tomo when I open it before using it. I was going to use it anyway, despite what replies I had, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one who sort of ignores best before dates!!!
Thanks x*** PROPHECY_GRRL****** DEBT FREE AS OF 17/10/11 - I DID IT!!! ***0 -
Must be a common feature today - I have just made lasagne using a jar of white ragu sauce which was dated March 10, it looked ok, smelled ok, tasted ok, and the vaccum button on the top of the jar was not popped - just re-inforces that I have been buying too much and dont know whats in the cupboards - that will change!!!
enjoy!!!Every days a School day!0 -

Hi,
I have a pack of beef mince which I did not realise is about to go out of date today. I was planning to use it to slow cook a chilli tomoro morning and I don't have time to start it now.
Could I fry it off, then put it in the fridge to cook properly tomoro?
Thanks0 -
Yup - it will give you a chance to skim the fat off tooSome days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0

I would just brown the mince tomorrow. it won't go off overnight. i ate steak last week that was 3 days out of date and it was fine. remember the date is just a guideline for the supermarkets etc0

Thanks, I'll fry it off just to be safe...
