    Hi Make life easier :hello:

I would probably cook them, using my nose and eyes to see if they showed any signs of being off. If i had any doubt, they would go straight in the bin :)

Good luck! I'll add your question to the food safety thread later

    thanks:)

Open, smell, taste. If it passes those tests, it is fine. To be honest, something like that I would assume to be ok for months after the best before and probably just use it, but as always, if in doubt smell and taste to check first.

Agree with post 2.. I have used fresh unopened milk over a week old and found it ok.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Hi Biff:hello:

As it is UHT milk, I woudl guess it would be ok to use - give it a smell and if in any doubt don't use it :)

I'll add this to the food safety thread later to keep the suggestions together

    thanks

I have found a tin of Princes mackerel fillets in tomato sauce in my cupboard with a use by date of June 2006. Now I know that quite often tins etc are ok - I even had a hot choc sachet mix from years out of date taste just fine a while back- but as this is fish I thought I best consult the experts. I intended to eat them fried in a pan with capers, breadcrumbs etc as part of a homemade pasta concoction..

    Thanks x

    Hi Reverbe,

As we can't see it we can't really give you good advice on an internet forum. If it was me, I would be dubious about using a fish product that was four years out of date but I would still be inclined to open it, sniff it, taste a little and then make the decision on whether or not it's worth risking. With fish or meat, if in doubt, I offer a little to the cat and if she refuses it then I do too. :D

I'm afraid that no one can really tell you whether or not it's safe to eat so it's really up to you.

I'll add your thread to the Quick Questions on food safety / sell by / use by dates as your query may help others in the same postition decide what to do.
