    the sun maid website says

Q: Out of date product, is it safe to eat?
A: Dried fruit should be consumed within the best before date for best flavor and color. Dried fruit is preserved by the drying process and as such does not "spoil" due to bacteria. Although it would be safe to eat, it may be unappetizing.

so since the taste normal its all systems go for flapjack!?

They should be fine.I have baked with and snacked on dried fruit that is 1-2 years out of date with no ill effects.

In fact,it wouldn't even occur to me not to eat them!

Soak in a bit of sherry or brandy overnight & they'll be fine! Use cold tea if you've no booze.

I'm sure it won't be a problem, I've had ood raisins loads of times and they are just a bit drier. If you still don't fancy it you could put them out for the birds, i'm sure they would be very happy to have them!

I have found 3 unopened tins of Slim Fast in a cupboard, best before dates are Feb, March and April 2011. Do you think they would be alright to use?

You can't go wrong with out of date slim fast; if it's safe to drink then you'll lose weight and if it isn't safe to drink, you'll lose weight from both ends....
