The Mortgage Free Weight Loss Challenge Part Deux - Slimmer than ever!

  • The major change I have made is to have a filling breakfast!
I used to dash out of the house without eating anything then nip into the newsagents on the way to work for the most convenient thing - usually chocolate or crisps!

This week I have been having cereal with yogurt and fruit and can honestly say not thinking about food til lunchtime.

I even sat next to a bowl of quality street at work all day and didn't even think of dipping in!

The last of the christmas rubbish has now gone from the house but unfortunately my man flu has meant most of the week lying in bed feeling sorry for myself. As such, it wasn't too bad to not have put anything on this week. Beginning to slowly but surely recover so I'm aiming to get back on the Wii Fit and EA Active tomorrow morning. I'll get out for my walk this afternoon to see if I can freeze the remainder of the cold away!!

I'm the worlds worst for not eating properly. As often as not, I'll have dinner at around 5:30-6:30pm and, other than water during the day and a pint of milk with dinner, that will be it. I'm going to make a conscious effort to start eating more often (as that's bound to help lose weight - if not Jock Tight and his logic are for the high jump!!)

    Cheers,

    Billy

My other weakness is the amount of cheese i eat, and the fact i don't like dry food so will add something like mayo to sandwiches to make them more moist.

I'm the same, have you tried using salsa in sandwiches as its really low fat as its just mushed up tomatoes? Its the least calorific dip, but some of the other low fat versions are reasonable too, just try to avoid the ones with tons of oil to bind them! Or you can make a reasonably convincing 'butter' out of boiled and pureed butternut squash. Even just throwing some salad into a sandwich means you need less spread.

Like you I also am a bit heavy handed with the portions, and I feel a need to clear my plate as I hate waste. So I've started cutting my portion in half, boxing up one half to take to work the next day for lunch before I ever put it on my plate, and still giving DH the same size portion as usual.

Pleased with that, didn't do much exercise this week, but have been pretty good on the diet front. My chocolate decluttering method is a bit unusual, I keep saying to DH 'if I open this choc orange and have 2 pieces, will you finish the rest off for me so I dont snack on it later?' - to which he tells me I'm the best wife in the world!

Wore my ankle weights around the house last night, and one of them has broken the skin! Not chuffed with that as its really uncomfortable today.

Trying to remember to input my food into food focus, but there just arent enough hours in the day. Hopeful I'll get some time after tea today to go on the cross trainer. Wish DH would put a curtain pole up in there so I can hang some curtains, my cross trainer is in the front room and anyone walking past can just see me bopping up and down right in front of the window - its worse than being at the gym!

Was looking forward to lunchtoday as i have a big tub of blackberries and strawberrys for pudding, but the blackberries are really really bitter :(

  • Thanks for the tip on using salsa dinah. I hadn't thought of that on a sandwich, and i could make some so it could be even better than the shop bought ones. Great idea.

Just watched the bigggest loser on the telly. I watched it last time it was on, and it amazes me. It was a bit of an eye opener. I used to think the people on these sorts of shows were so much bigger than me, but now i have gone over 13 stone, they aren't are they really. I need to make this work.

OK, decision time - am I allowed to carry forward last year's figures or do I need to start from scratch? Would like to carry forward, but realise it would distort it really.

Well done most of you, oops to those like me who had a small gain :o

Have you tried using a cheese slice to cut your cheese with? I find it far easier to regulate the size of slices that way. My handcut ones tend to be faaaaaaaaar too generous... like about double the amount! :o That or I buy low low cheddar slices - it doesn't taste too bad (unlike [STRIKE]rubber[/STRIKE] edam and similar cheeses). Low low is on special offer on morrisons at the mo 89p for 10x20g slices, can't remember what the block costs.

I add sweet chilli sauce to my cheddar sandwiches (just a small squirt ~5g) - its lovely! I alternate between that or relish / branston pickle.

I carried mine forwards GG. I'll get far too confused otherwise! :rotfl:

  • I can't use a cheese slice at all unfortunately. I could try the hole that does that on the grater.

Another good idea about the chilli sauce. We have that and some branston so i could do that. I just automatically go for mayo as it is so easy there in the fridge next to the cheese. Bit more forethought needed on my part.

Maybe i just need to have some days where i just resist the cheese, or i used to grate cheese and carrot together to put in wraps and that was quite nice.

Right here we go. I am starting a fresh as I was only yo-yoing with 2 pounds anyway. A Tuesday gives me a chance on Monday to make up for no exercise at the weekend and any rubbish food. I would like to lose this by my wedding although if I can be nicely toned then I will settle for that. Need to organise my wedding dress by the end of the month so I will see how I can do before that.
