Hi all
I am new to this so sorry if this is already covered. I have tried to read through as much of the the thread as possible.
I have a new home (well 18 months old now) 2 bed flat. We have a Nibe Fighter 360. Everytime I search about this boiler, this thread emerges.
This was the second winter and the bills were very high per month (what you might expect per quarter).
We are both professional adults out at work all day, use electricity sparingly, keep all room thermostats at 20 or lower.
Almost all our neighbours are very unhappy about the high bills for their properties. We have experienced constant problems with faults and poor installation.
Has anyone who has experienced these issued had the matter fully and satisfactorly resolved yet?0 -
Helllo yes yes and yes...we run a facebook page called NIBE boiler problems ,we live in St Neots and have exactly the same problem.

Rip Off Britain is interested in hearing about your experiences of Exhaust Air Heat pumps. If you would like to share your story with us please email Natasha.emerson@bbc.co.uk0 -
There seems to be alot of people on here from Grimsby.
Anyone tried approaching the telegraph?
I'm at Robert Pearson Mews off Ladysmith Road, these Nibes are awful. Apparently your supposed to clean the air filter every so often and purge it of any air?
Anyone else heard this?

200..................!! NIBE 360 units are being pulled out of Castlefields homes in Runcorn, all new build ...flats with NIBE 360ps..Housing association Plus Dane is pulling them out and putting gas boilers.....the flats are code level 4 built so fairly airtight with solar panels...these systems must be bad ...

if it good or bad tell the BBC what your experience of Exhaust air heat pumps are....0 -
Good work Jaime, I have been in touch with a few housing associations to warn them off using the exhaust air heat pump, however, it seems they just want to chuck in the cheapest bit of kit that will score their 'green credentials'. when will they learn? There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

You'll get a lot of nonsense, such as cleaning filters. And, as we've found, they'll keep coming back with more excuses weeks after week. They'll accuse you of playing with it and not having it set up correctly. You need to be harsh and complain. If the Nibe is clearly not running efficiently and saving you money, you need to formerly complain. We have, and now things are getting done.

Yes agreed there seems to be a definite change in housing associations view of these systems....recent changes and due changes in standards has also thank fully closed the loop holes down...the DECC seem to be extremely cautious about heat pumps currently...
The current director of NIBE energy systems UK has been lashing out verbally with threats of legal action against people who have spoken against the NIBE 360 and 200 units even going as far as writing letters of complaint to their employers and places of work...spouting unfounded accusations about their conduct....on web sites and forums...
These desperate actions from the director could be seen as extremely unprofessional totally in breach of a persons human rights and some may be asking how long is it till the Swedish actually step in to limit the damage...
Remember these models of exhaust air heat pump are drawing in a volume of 110 M3 every hour of outside air ..(same size as a 3 bed semi remembering that the volume would need to subtract furniture volume etc rather than calculating wall to wall limits) ..its not really all that difficult to see why they cost a fortune to run....and thats before we get into the poor efficiencies....even though the director of nibe is once again quoted in a formal meeting as saying these machines have an efficiency of 300% so for every 1kw you get 3kw....so misleading.....0 -
Based on my visit to "Eco Build", an annual free junket in the Excel exhibition centre at East London docklands, my understanding is that the the building regulations are shortly to be changed. The standard assessment procedure (SAP) will assume that a heat pump has an efficiency of 230% (a Coefficient of Performance of 2.3). This is because the UK housing industry is trying to build the same old leaky rubbish and then add some "eco bling" like PV panels or heat pumps just to theoretically get the design to tick enough boxes to be passed (*). In practice half the improvements, in the theoretical performance of the structure, disappear between the drawing board and the building site.
So the new emphasis is on building a superb modern structure, then if it fails to deliver the expected savings it could be rescued from the wrecking ball by adding the bling.
At a COP of 2.3 heat pumps will not be able to compete with a gas condensing boiler especially on the carbon measurement. The market is actually forecasting a fall in gas prices over the next 5 years, as the dodgy American "fracking" techniques increase the supply of gas..
(*) There are still some nonsenses such as ignoring the orientation of the building - so putting solar panels on the North slope of the roof counts just as many ticks as putting them on the South, and installing a wood burner, to give the tenant some flexibility in heating methods, counts as making a hole in the fabric of the building and un-ticks several boxes in the efficiency and carbon sustainability ratings.
