A very warm welcome to lilmissking88, Nevys and **Kat**! :D So very much to give up and totally quit for, lilmissking88 and you CAN do it so long as you keep yourself reminded about all the good that will be achieved if you stick to it hard. Keep thoughts of, your Wedding, your Husband to be....your children and YOUR LIFE spent in good health for you all, to the forefront of your mind and you'll do it and be sooo very proud. Keep talking here to us all, we'll support you all we can, so shout and give vent - and shout yippee a little further down the line! We're here to listen to it all. :)

NO your Dr does not need to know Nevys! Ours is wonderful, but one in the practice who I wouldn't dream of going to as his words on it are "Simple - you just quit!!" No comment is printable! You have other advice from members here or you could click here to go to the NHS for one of their Quit Packs. You put your post code in and they give you your nearest quit kit Pharmacy, you can also make contact with an advisor there for help if necessary. Have a look and see what you think, if not go to any Pharmacy or Tesco!

**Kat** we've all said that we enjoyed smoking, but stop and think about all the affects it has on you, making you and your clothes stink of the dirty things, orange coloured fingers, the very great risks to your health and those around you with...... worrying about you! Read through this and the last 2 threads of posts at all the terrible things about smoking or having smoked. They're not all doom and gloom though, they're mingled with all the immense joys of folk taking control of the weed, finding out they actually hated the things and - finally having said goodbye to fags and being thrilled to bits at having quit. You too CAN do it Kat!!! Those youngsters will too - one day! ;)

Hi Red1708 and welcome back! :) It's so good to see you were able to quit for all that time!:T:T You did wonderfully well!!! How sad, but understandable that your marriage break up messed things up for you though. Still, you've done it before so there's every chance you'll be just as successful this time round! Do be careful with the burning of the patches though, you may be allergic to them. Take plenty of water to help with the headaches. All very best wishes, Red, we're with you! :D

STILL no sign of baby...she is due in 5 days, still trying all the home remedies to bring labour on ;)

That's a good thing for her NOT to arrive early, Sally, the majority of all babies are LATE, so don't get trying too much to bring the birth on and making you a little edgy too maybe. ;) If you go overboard you may just risk hurting the pair of you!!! Don't worry too much about the rattiness at the weekend, you know the reason why it happened and that's what counts. On such days, do all you can to help yourself into a better frame of mind then think that you pretty much know the next day will be so very much better. Great advice you gave out earlier too! :T
WELL DONE, Caz!!!! :T:T:T So sorry to hear you have the beginnings of cataracts in both your eyes, yet ANOTHER reason for folk to quit before it possibly affects them also!! You're doing well though Caz and at least the cataracts can be treated later. My DH had the start of one detected in his eye when he went to the eye clinic at the hospital, but again, treatable later and it won't affect him until about 10 years down the line. Any idea how long you have to wait to go into hospital?

Hiya itselliebell and I'm delighted to share the amazing news about you NOT having smoked 200 fags!!!!!! :T:j:T:j:T:jAdd to that your Bootcamp regime too and you have so much to shout about and I couldn't be more chuffed for you!!!! Keep on sharing your news ellie as it also help others know they CAN do it too!!!

....have never managed 7 days cold turkey so a big pat on the back to me. Downloaded a hypnosis app to the ipod today which could be good when I get home from work in the evening as a little wind down before I get wound up. Took Daphne Dog for a bracing walk today over South Weald (big country park) which is so good as a stress buster, excercise is definately the way forward. Food consumption is definately on the up but I am trying to drink water and eat fruit as a substitute, although there is no substitute for the custard cream.

Congratulations on about the first week free, maccababe!!!! Though around 10 days now - right?!!! You're doing extremely well and doing all the right things........almost. Oh do be careful of those CC biscuits, they're my downfall too!:o I no longer eat the bloomin things. Be careful as if you have a colestrol problem it'll make it worse as there are so many hidden FATS in biscuits - and you're having double the dose each time plus cream!!! :eek:Try and gradually wean yourself off them. Well done on the exercise and have as much water as possible, fruit too!!

I had to go back and look for the above remark as I remembered something being said about the third week and wonder what was the 'thing' you meant??

Having a 'thing' with it is like having a hang-up, a mental idea of what something will or may be like without even experiencing yet. That happens to so many folk mostly due to being handed down from parents, friends etc. Brilliant news on being over 3 weeks, Kiwisaver, that really is great and you're feeling so very differently from early last week, but YOU did it so you've so much to praise yourself on!!!

Ok Donna, remember what caused the muck up and don't allow it to this time! It has no right!!!;)

Great news, Ettenna and well done on the 3 CM level, but a non-smoker will get down to 1 or hopefully to a 0! Any higher than a 1 usually means you walk close or near to traffic, so beware! Keep up the wonderful work and pat yourself on the back a LOT!!! :T

Hi there Tricia and excellent news about being around 7 weeks free from fags!!! What some pluses you have to go with all the others you already know. You sound as though you've gained soooo much and LOST about 10 years!!!! :j :T:T:T :j

Hope you had a good laugh the other night, DNM, laughter's certainly supposed to be the best medicine, stress-buster too as it takes you right away from stress and forces you to feel different. Very often it rolls on to the next day and the next etc as we keep reliving jokes, events etc.

All great news above folks, just think how your health's improving, how you're taking control of your lives and kicking the weed right out of your lives. Just think of all that money you're not giving to fag manufactures and the government!!!!! You're ALL doing just wonderfully!

    Very well done, Pauline-1976,

Many thanks for the feedback for others wishing to stop, and for letting everyone know that it really is possible. The more that tell them, the more able they are to do so too!

All the best for you to stick hard at it and fully Quit!!! :D

  • I'd tried everything before hand. Patches, gum, inhalers, hypnotherapy and ALL of them at once!! When I was told about champix i didn't really think it would work, but to my utter surprise it has. I've also downloaded an free app onto my Iphone which keeps track of how I'm doing
So far: 663 cigerettes NOT smoked this year and £222.30 saved. It's great to have a look at in the early days if you feel tempted!

Hi all, didn't think about smoking until 4.10pm today and that was only because a stop smoking ad came on the tv, bit of a change from every 30 seconds the first day.

Tricia's post reminded me of something I posted soon after stopping............it was originally posted by donnaessex and I adapted it slightly and printed it off and have looked at it often.

I hate having to make sure I've got enough fags for the day.

I hate having to shove a packet in my (already) overstuffed bag.

I hate going into the shops asking for 20 cigs pretending they're not for me.

I hate not wanting to talk to people because my breath stinks of smoke.

I hate that I spend £15 a week on something I set fire to.

I hate getting up 10 minutes earlier so that I can have a cigarette

I hate that I have to sit in the garden in the snow and rain.

I hate that I cant sit still after eating a meal.

I hate getting stressed in the morning just because I havent had my tea and fag yet.

Hi Jenny and it's hard to believe that you've been free for ALL that time! Many congratulations indeed!!! :T:T

Hi there DD and many congratulations on 6 moths free from that evil little beast!!! Absolutely marvellous news DD!! :T:T:T:j:T:T:T

rubytwilight, that's such good news on in being your 1st smoke free day, you finally got here, very well done. Keep life ticking along as you speak of above and you won't be doing too badly at all. Don't worry, there are bound to be a few pangs, especially after the years some of us have smoked for, you're right though as it is 'more in your head' than anything else, even more so when using Champix. ;)

Be gentle on yourselves everyone...but firm enough to keep your journey going. Water, fruit, Ice Poles/Pops and exercise, plenty of each will be a real help to you.
