*sigh* I had 5 cigs this weekend. 2 on Friday, 2 on Saturday and one yesterday.
Back with the programme today.
Good luck everybody!
Donna it's good to see you back - I remember you very well and your list of reasons for not smoking.
I wish you all the best now and you can look forward to a life free of the slavery. Just keep checking in to this thread - it will keep you focussed.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

How do you go about getting a prescription for patches or lozenges without seeing your doctor or being interviewed and analysed? Reason I ask is I want to give up,but have not seen my doctor since taking myself off anti depressants 6 years ago.I cope with the depression ok now in my own way, what I do not want to do is go back and be asked how the past few years have gone, glad you got a new job etc etc-that was 6 years ago, and at the time he said now is probably not the right time to give up,but maybe in the future..Well I just want to go somewhere, walk in,say I would like to give up and someone say sure, here is a prescription without all the questioning and best of luck and be on my way to do it myself without reporting back how it is going etc-Is it possible to do that-cos if I had to see a doctor the old panis attacks would start coming back again and have moved on so much from them over the past few years.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I am sure that the clinics on Boots and the like don't require you to see a doctor. The one at my college writes the prescriptions out themselves and I don't see my Dr. I know that I only pay one prescription charge and get 8 weeks worth of NRT (not all at once) If you get free prescriptions then you don't pay.
I suggest you go and ask them what their procedure is.
It's much cheaper than getting it all yourself. And there's someone to talk to each week who has been through it themselves (well on my course anyway). My carbon monoxide is monitored weekly so they can see if you are cheating so I am accountable for my actions0 -
Well, 3 years ago with the help of this previous thread I quit. Six months ago following the break up of my marriage I started again but I'm back to get rid of these things once and for all!!!
I went to Asda last night, had a chat with the lovely assistant, got my patches and inhalator and had my last ciggie last night. My arm is burning from the patch, I've got a headache am desperate for a ciggie but I WILL do it!!BSC Member 59 - AD 29th March 2008

My local chemist does all the patches, lozenges, mints inhilators etc on precription. You just go in, fill a form in and get 2 weeks prescription. Then when it runs out, go back for the next one! Dead easy, dead simple xWell, 3 years ago with the help of this previous thread I quit. Hi,
Must admit that I snuck the remainder of a packet out of the bin on Sunday (threw it there on Wednesday night) and was tempted to have one (3 in it). But stopped myself when realised how gross that was, taking stuff out of the wheelie bin
I think this is the only place you could admit that and not shock people - I never got quite as far as getting them out but I did consider it. Hands up those who have at least considered it?
Nevsy I would not have gone to the Drs either. In my case it is due to a bad experience with an unsympathetic one who told me it was my own fault and if I didn't have the willpower to stop I would just have to get on with it :mad: Admittedly this was before NRT was around but still :eek:
Red Welome back  I remember you from my reading of the previous thread. I hope this is 'your time' for the final quit. Keep posting, reading, ranting, punching pillows, but . . . . not another puff;)
Sally's baby "GET A MOVE ON!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Donna There's still space on the wagon for you. "Move over everyone".
Do you know what triggered the slip? Can you avoid that situation till you feel more sure of your quit? I know it isn't always possible but it might help?
Wow! Look at my title. I can hardly believe that in 10 days it will be 2 months.
Keep up the good work everyone TOGETHER WE WILL DO IT!But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Afternoon all
How is everyone. There has been a little less traffic on here the last few days - I hope its because everyone is out enjoying their freedom from being fag free!
Im doing fine - I still have a major craving at least once a day, but as hubby says - Im no where near to getting up and going to the shop for some, so its all good!
Contractions started on Monday, nothing yesterday and pain and niggles today. Possibly slow labour, or not - who knows?! At least Im not a smoking mummy to be anymore!
Hope everyones doing well. Please pop on to keep us posted!

Hi, does anyone mind if I join? I started on patches yesterday (paid for myself but I will look into prescriptions) and had 1 ciggie yesterday (from a 15 per day habit not going to beat myself up too much). I could really do with support, especially when in work as my friends smoke, are all younger than me, and don't get why I want to quit.
It's mainly money orientated as I do ENJOY smoking, but it's also for my health and very much for my son.Loan - [STRIKE]£6991.95[/STRIKE]£6180.01; Barclays Res - [STRIKE]£600[/STRIKE] £0 - £22 per week , NWB Grad O/D - [STRIKE]£1185[/STRIKE] £887.86 18.28% SWALEC - [STRIKE]£700[/STRIKE] £0 NPOWER [STRIKE]£220[/STRIKE] £0 Kays - [STRIKE]£591.28[/STRIKE] £0 TOTAL DEBT - [STRIKE]£10,288.23[/STRIKE] £7,000.01 31.96 % Paid off. hi
just wanted to pop in because i've reached a little milestone. i have now not smoked just over 2000 cigarettes!
have started a boot camp fitness class, which is a 2 mile jog with short stops to do all sorts of fun things like squatting, lunging, push ups and press ups! i am panting like a dog within 10 minutes of starting, and can only imagine what i would have been like had i not quit smoking.
i can't say that i never think about cigarettes, but it would be difficult to call it a craving, more like a thought would cross my mind, i've not smoked for ages, i wonder will i start again? and then i tell myself, no, because i don't even want one! haha0 -

I too thought I enjoyed smoking, I now think that in reality I used that as an excuse. For me I think I was worried about missing out on something when going out for a fag with work people and all my family and friends smoke.
I have been given up for 4 weeks now, and in reality Im not missing it HALF as much as I really thought I would.
Good luck to you hun. If you really want to do it - you willWe are all here to help and support you!
Good luck xxx:beer:itselliebell wrote: »hi
