So many people seem to have a thing with 3rd day and 3rd week and although I don't understand why, I can understand how it is to get things like that locked into our heads, but not really know why - unless a loved one or another quitter put them there!

I had to go back and look for the above remark as I remembered something being said about the third week and wonder what was the 'thing' you meant?

Having crossed the three week mark this morning I have to say today has been the BEST day for me so far. :T I just felt so happy all day and had a big smirk on my face for most of it. :D

Three weeks now seems to me like such a significant and remarkable achievement; which I wasn't feeling at all before and I feel now I have passed the three weeks it seems so much more stable and sustainable than weeks one, two, two and a half etc ever did. I sincerely hope I am now over the worst and don't go back to the gloomy dark days I had last week.

I forgot my pedometer today but came home from work this evening and did an hour of speed gardening - it's a bit like Flylady fling, I set myself a challenge to pull up as many weeds, prune and pick up as many leaves and debris as I possibly can in an hour. Very effective I nearly filled a wheelie bin and got a good workout.

Thanks to you all for keeping me going!!

Hi, every one and welcome to all the new faces

I've been away for a few days with no internet access and also busy. Sorry to desert you all.

Things are fine on the no smoking front. I go whole days without thinking about it and I don't even rush to check my quit meter every day (it was hourly at first :rotfl:). I AM aware that I haven't met all the situations which could trigger a slip though. I'm just thankful that so few people do smoke in my circle of contacts :T

I'm taking a little time today to take stock.
    1. My bank balance thanks me to the tune of £413.62.:j
    2. My teeth are whiter - I used to say they were stained because I drink my coffee black and my wine red. I lied.;)
    3. Dark circles under my eyes are fading. I said I had always had them. I lied. ;)
    4. I've given my self esteem a huge boost. If I can do this, I can do anything. :D Soooo - I've ordered some bathroom scales and am joining weight watchers on line when they arrive. I've put some weight on this winter (partly quit related but mainly just greed.)
    5. Feeling :j:j:j

There's been to much activity on the thread since I last posted to reply individually but Sally well done and we're all wishing you well with the baby. You're giving him/her the best start you possibly can.

Kiwi I know how you felt with the 'down days' but, if you think back, you will probably remember that you had days like that when you were smoking as well. I certainly did.

I really admire all of you who have jumped back on the wagon so quickly after slipping off. That is such a hard thing to do.

Every day, week, month or year is a milestone worth celebrating so :beer: to everyone.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?
  • aw tricia what a lovely lovely post :A well said!

I'm still trucking, off to a comedy night tonight. Still finding dealing with stress challenging but I haven't smoked (I have thought about it as I didn't get this stressed before but I know I just have to find new ways to cope with it - hopefully laughter is the way forward for tonight ;)

Great news that people are jumping on the wagon after never being there before, or falling off! Its all good - either way your thinking about it and making an effort to do something about it! Woo Hoo!!

I am doing OK, not amazing as I am still thinking about smoking far too much for mu liking, however I have not given in - we shall see!

How do you go about getting a prescription for patches or lozenges without seeing your doctor or being interviewed and analysed? Reason I ask is I want to give up,but have not seen my doctor since taking myself off anti depressants 6 years ago.I cope with the depression ok now in my own way, what I do not want to do is go back and be asked how the past few years have gone, glad you got a new job etc etc-that was 6 years ago, and at the time he said now is probably not the right time to give up,but maybe in the future..Well I just want to go somewhere, walk in,say I would like to give up and someone say sure, here is a prescription without all the questioning and best of luck and be on my way to do it myself without reporting back how it is going etc-Is it possible to do that-cos if I had to see a doctor the old panis attacks would start coming back again and have moved on so much from them over the past few years.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
  • Hi Nevsy, I think you can go and register with a smoking cessation service but I do think you then sign up to go a certain amount of times over a period of time. They won't know anything about your past though.

I would think other than that you might have to buy the NRT yourself

    Good luck x

    Hi,

Well I am still here and going well :) Got my carbon monoxide levels checked at the stop smoking thingy at college yesterday. Down from 26ppm to 3ppm :j:j - the level of a non-smoker :j:j Got my new prescription for patches. I am changing them from the round skin coloured ones to the clear ones because the round ones keep coming off :(

Must admit that I snuck the remainder of a packet out of the bin on Sunday (threw it there on Wednesday night) and was tempted to have one (3 in it). But stopped myself when realised how gross that was, taking stuff out of the wheelie bin

Onwards and upwards as they say.
