Hi Kiwi! I was really thrilled to read how you're feeling now, what difference a few days makes eh! :T :jWell done on getting your pedometer out and clocking up enough steps to really make you feel good - tired too! Thoughts of smoking in excess of 150,000 cigs doesn't bear thinking about!! I know it's nowhere near anything like that for me, but no amount of cigs for anyone is good so thank Heavens I quit! I sincerely hope you do too! So..almost at the 3 week stage - that is so very good, but I won't congratulate you until you're there, being on the safe side. All the very best with working at your frame of mind and your 10.000 steps tomorrow, you'll have no problems! A gold star's for a 3 yr old you think? :staradmin
Hi life in termoil and very well done on your first 24 hours without cigs!!! :T The lack of sleep could be due to the patches or the howling gales, also it could be you being anxious and excited about stopping too. Most of us feel a mixture of both and it's no wonder after having smoked so long, but you're on the right road, just don't let early feelings stop you from going on with it as you will soon feel much better. Don't wear the patches overnight though, but have one ready to put on in the morning. Such a shame about your greenhouse being demolished and the Sky problems, no doubt there will have been a lot of damage caused by such powerful winds! Let's hope your dreams are a little better tonight..sleep too, though taking the kids bowling sounds a great thing to do, paying off your fag money on your CC too! All the best for a great day and keeping active.

Things must be looking up, I managed a whole day without tears or tantrums. :T I guess if I were three years old that would be deserving of a star or something.
Less than 12 hours to go and it will be a three whole weeks abstaining for me and over 300 fags not smoked. I was wondering today how many thousands of fags I have actually smoked in my lifetime - I expect it's in excess of 150,000. Scary biscuits! Imagine that? 150,000 fag butts in an ashtray? Oh my god!!!
You're doing grand, I'll find you a star if you like
Scary biscuits? Wow I've never heard anyone else ever say that, most of the time folks look at me like i've just climbed out of a hole in the ground. I feel vindicated! So where did we get it from is the next question....~Nym~

Champix - Day 1
Hi All
Started Champix today - so still smoking but joining you all in the smoke free zone very, very soon
Tried 3 weeks ago with patches... all going well until I developed a severe allergic reaction to them! So, did 12 days and then didn't feel up to 'cold turkey' so went back on them. Anyway, here I go again... and determined to succeed.
I've been reading your posts for a few weeks and decided to join you all today for support :T It looks like a lot of you are doing really well :T
Will keep on reading the posts and let you all know how I'm doing x
good luck. my quit day is tuesday have found myself stubbing out m cigs half way through.
Have opted to use champix again as think i am real nicotine addict and nrt kept my "taste" for it going, had horrid dreams on nrt as opposed to bizarre vivid ones on champix.
keep us all posted on your progress:T0 -
Great stuff rubytwilight we shall be with you every step of the way , get armed with fresh fruit and healthy nibblies just in case and have a plan of active action at the ready .
.Most of us had a raid on our homes tidying cupboards and washing down walls .etc when we started our quit journey , ..thankfully THAT novelty has worn off or it could of been a nasty side effect of stopping smoking if it had continued ha ha :rotfl:
have been taking down my small fruit cage today am going to hopefully move my potting shed to occupy its space , i just hope once dimantled i can put the thing back together again.fingers crosssed ...

Hi all (Sue, Jammy, DD)
and hello to all you new quitters. So many people I had to bail out of the thread, not too good with all those multi quotes!).
Well as the time ticked over into February, you will see I became yet another month free of the demon nicotine. I can hardly believe it. After the first couple of months, the time just seemed to fly by and by April, it will be 2 blooming years! How cool is that?
Anyway, I just wanted to urge you all to keep your feet on the road ahead. You may look from side to side occasionally - but if you keep going, you will become more and more strong. The self esteem you get from not smoking any more, is worth it's weight in gold. Yes, sometimes you can get a craving or a fleeting thought, but the more time you get behind you, the easier it is.
One day, you will wake up and realise you are actually living!......happily without the slavery and the sense of being on edge.
You are happy to be in your own skin. You will get problems, but your first thought will not be....."Oh poor me, I really deserve to smoke this problem away"....no, you will just get on and solve the problem.
Smoking wastes so much of your time.....putting off doing something by smoking....rewarding yourself by smoking...it just goes on and on until you put a stop to it.
Forget about the money, forget about the health, forget about all the reasons you shouldn't smoke. Just focus on the absolute joy and peace of no longer being a slave to nicotine.
The people who make them don't want you to give up! They want you to keep on smoking and ruining your health, so they can pile up their riches. In the meantime you can expect to be treated like a social leper by society and the health service.
Cry, scream, get angry, whatever it takes...but throw those cigarettes away!
Here endeth the lesson...:)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

A really amazing post, larmy!!! :j It really does tell quitters exactly what to expect and exactly, feel and what to do during "woe is me" times. It sums up perfectly what we all feel IF we don't allow Nick to play devil's advocate! Congratulations on such a brilliant accomplishment larmy, you've worked hard at it and earned to beautiful rewards that come with it. Listen up people, you've much to take note of and learn by - to help you ALL quit!! Brilliant larmy!!! :T:j:T:j:j:T:j:T

Hi Sue and Jammy Dodger,
I'm actually not from anywhere particularly posh and live in Northern Ireland. I totally agree about the ipod thing though to make the time go so much quicker. Just make sure it's filled with music you like.
I hope everyone is doing well and has had a good day
RedIf you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

I've already started the super-charged spring clean! But that could be more to do with trying to avoid knuckling down to the 4000 word assignment due in 10 days:eek:
I've also got the knitting back out, as well as the cross stitching and ironing!
I lead such an exciting life... :huh:0 -

much more exciting than sitting around puffing away Janie :T remember exciting is as exciting does x
ok yesterday I went to the gym and really went for it on the running machine and then did some weights which made me feel immensely better, watched a film with oh and had a few glasses of wine and the pressurised feeling behind my eyes has now gone for the first time in a week! More of the same for today I think!
I hope everyone out there is still fighting the fight admirably! xDF as at 30/12/16

Well done determined new ms
I've increased exercise uptake since not smoking & now walk/cycle the 3 odd miles to work 5 times a week instead of using the car - every little helps eh:D
My savings are now officially £100 odd richer as well which can't be bad:) I'm putting the money I would have spent each day on baccy away & will buy something nice for the house/me at the end of the year. Should be about £1500 by then. It's a shame I didn't think about doing this years ago - could have paid for my car out right instead of finance:mad:
Glad everyone is getting on alright.
Have a lovely Sunday folks :jSmoke free since 19/01/110
