  • Well, I went to the pub last night and didn't give in :)

It was great not to have to go stand outside as the weather was atrocious here! Still feeling like I would like to have a cigarette in general, rather than specific moments of craving, but it's getting less intense as I go on.

I'm staying in this evening which I think will be a bit of a challenge, but I have some housework to do and some complicated work stuff so hopefully that will keep me occupied!

  • A very warm welcome, mmikailian and well done on starting a whole new life.....smoke-free!!! Great news that you're already on Day 4! Well done on NOT allowing others to smoke in the house...though they should have more respect for those who are stopping or who have quit!! Keep up the jogging and exercising as all exercise is great for those who stop smoking. All the best this time with not going back! You've managed quitting before, keep at it this time - it's never worth not doing!

  • Well it really has been a rollercoaster of a last few days, Eldest daughter had to have two teeth out first thing on Wednesday morning, my first smoke free!! Massive traffic jams everywhere Cambridge had come to a virtual standstill. Hey ho, got there in the end smoke free.

Middle daughter is driving me loopy loopy loo, hormonal old bag that she is, and did lose my temper and boy did I want a fag, but thouht to myslef it really really would not resolve the situation and I wold be even more annoyed with myself.

Yesterday was the first on the scene at a RTA, and had to phone police, ambulance and fire peeps, I ws fine till I walked back to my car and started shaking violently, but still coped fine, large glass of water when I got home. Sorted.

Well so far so good, have a good one y'all and smoke free.

  • Day 4 - patches and mini lozenges

Doing really well - its the nights that get to me. I am constantly forgetting myself and going to reach for the back door, when I realise I dont have any cigarettes - then that makes me think constantly about smoking.

I've worked out a way to make the lozenges bearable - I just keep it constantly between my cheek and my gums and the taste isnt so bad.

I had a call yesterday about a full time job which is paying a lot less than what I am earning at the moment. I said I wasnt interested but they kept on about my experience being perfect for it so I tried a different way and asked if they would consider making it part time (school hours) on a similar salary and they are thinking about it! Fingers crossed.

I usually have a little drink on a Friday at home but not sure if I will tonight - this weekend will be a killer for me as I always smoked more at weekends.

    Have a good one everybody!

    Hello, can I join you?

I am 43 and giving up using patches. There is a stop smoking course started at my college. They prescribed NRT, 8 weeks supply for 1 prescription charge. I had my last cigarette on Weds night (2nd) and have now done about 30 hours!!! Doesn't sound much does it :) So far, so good. I have only had a couple of minor "omg what am I doing this for, I want a fag" moments.

I am also doing Weightwatchers and losing weight!!

I think my trigger for life change has been that I am off to Uni in September to do Adult Nursing. I can't bear the thought of being a fat nurse in a straining uniform stinking!!

My kids are absolutely over the moon that I am quitting. The middle one did it at Xmas and the other two don't smoke at all and hate it. My hubby doesn't smoke either - nor does anyone in the family.

Here's to completing Day 2 and well done to everyone else !!
  • Ive been and bought some patches but my dilemma is when to actually start using them!

I have 1 cig left so do I.....
Smoke last ciggy and slap a patch on and start from now or
Start 1st thing in the morning when I wake up.

I have given up before and stayed ciggy free for 2 1/2 years but then split up from my then husband and started again

  • Ive just had a coffee and the last ciggy so I now have none left. Ive stuck on my patch and to avoid any temptation of popping to the shop to buy a packet I have paid £4.89 off my credit card. I will do this every day and hope that seeing my CC balance shrink will be motivation in itself. I now just need to change my routines eg wake up ciggy brew, brew and ciggy, 15 minute break at work...have a ciggy and a brew, before bed ...have a ciggy and a brew. Hummmm think I need to change what I drink as I associate having a coffee with smoking.

Im now going to go and keep myself busy so im going to tackle the lounge. The kitchen will be next but this is where I smoke so Im hoping that if i scrub it and open the doors to allow the room to breath I wont be tempted.

Well done everyone I cant wait to start knocking up my smoke free days x
