Hi Maria, well done on how far you've got, how well you've done too!! :T Normally if people have 1 or 2 then we say "don't worry, it's a blip, don't have any more and class it as a blip and move on as if you hadn't had any. So, to answer your question, 1 or 2.....just 4 at most or the only person you're cheating on is yourself. Class Sunday's one as a blip and move on, but don't have any more! You have over a week behind you already so keep on going - without any fill-ins - and you'll feel a whole lot more proud by the time you get to 2 weeks!!! :j
Whether your meltdown was induced by the fag you had or the missing of them - always give way to tears! It's the body's way of releasing any stress, frustration or sadness within so give way to them and you'll feel a whole lot better after. Us girls also have to consider TOTM problems and what PMS does to us, we don't have an easy ride, but recognising what the problems are and why they're happening helps so very much! Early nights are good when we're quitting - so long as you don't go to bed too early and mess up the following night's sleep!! Be chuffed to bits at how well you've done on CT!!! It's a great way to quit and puts nowt else into you - no more nicotine - no pills - NOWT!!!! I'm not knocking NRTs as it's what works for individuals that counts, but you've done just great Maria - keep at it!!!
Hello saffronflowers and a very warm welcome to a whole new life - smoke-free!!! I honestly think we're all habit smokers and have been (stupidly) rewarding ourselves after doing jobs. If you're looking for a little friendship and support to help you through quitting then join in with us every day (more often if you wish/need to) and let your feelings flow, good or bad, let us know. I'm sending a PM for you to read through, please take note as there are some things that will help a lot!! All best wishes that you'll succeed with quitting once and for all SF! Have just seen your Dear Nick letter - excellent!!!!You be as Pollyannaish as you wish!
maccababe wrote:Anybody got any coping mechanisims when people smoking in the house?
Easy maccababe...."push off outside and leave indoors clean for non or ex-smokers!" Seriously, If he's still smoking, but doing so in his room then that's not so bad, so long as he keeps the door shut and window open. Re the Alan Carr DVD, we haven't had anyone use the DVD, but we've had a lot of folk using his books and CDs and all have praised them, so well worth giving it a try, I'd say.
Woooo-hoo Tally!!!! :T:T A 1 is brilliant news and well achieved!!! It is possible to get a 0 though so keep at it. You said you travelled there with the windows down - but - unless you're travelling on a near traffic-free country lane - you're allowing fumes from your car and other people's into your car....and inhaling them! If you're travelling by motorways - NEVER leave the windows open!!!! Best to go there a good deal earlier than your appointment time next time, then go to a park or somewhere (hard to find, but....) traffic-free to breathe fresh air in for a good hour or so. Tell the councillor about your problems with traffic and see what she/he has to say or help with. Aside from that, you're doing marvellously and I'd be thrilled to bits with the 1 anyway - a whole lot better than well up in the teens or more depending on how much a smoker puts down into their lungs!!! Good news about not being complacent, Tally!determined_new_ms wrote:(Sue I don't mind you bringing up my mood swings!!! :rotfl:)
There you are see DNM, I just knew you wouldn't!BTW Fantastic news that you've now stopped for A WHOLE MONTH!!!!!! Many congratulations !!!! :T:T:T
Hi there Az!!!! It's great to see you back. Congratulations on a MONTH + free of smoking!!! :T:T:T You've done terrifically, still keeping busy too...you'll never get to gain weight at that rate!!! It's ok folks who don't know Az...she's like a rasher of wind and desperate to put on an ounce or so!! Very well done Az and what a difference in your bank charges!!!
Hello there, rubytwilight!!!A step closer to quitting then, wonderful news! Another one getting rid of all the stench from the car then - well done! It's so good to be free from that awful smell...and to think we were like that! Our neighbour came in last night and though she doesn't smoke any more - her DH does and she stank of the stuff!!!!! I'm not saying I was glad to see her go, but I could have willingly shoved her on out!!! All the very best for next Tuesday!
Goodgirl, that's such a rotten shame. Are you sure it's the right time to have started .....TOTM or preceding it? It makes a huge difference to how we feel in general, if it's anything to do with that then try again after. It might not have worked then, but it doesn't mean it won't next week, next month etc. Give it another go and never stop trying! How about making an appointment with your Cessation Nurse at your Surgery and seeking advice about NRTs? Don't just leave it or you'll always regret it - truly you will! PLEASE also take note of what itselliebell advises you, xmercx and Ads and JD too, it all makes sense to me! Be careful with DH's rollies - I got addicted to them a lonf time ago when I thought they'd help me quit!!!
So many congratulations, itselliebell!!!! :T:T:T:T Keep hard at it and before you know it you'll be heading on for half a year!!!!!
Congratulations to you on your fortnight free, Ads!!!! Very often you guys seem to get on better than we poor gals, but it isn't always the case. You though have put your heart into it and hasn't it ever paid off!! Great news Ads!!!
Thanks a lot JD ....a wonderful helper and adviser indeed!!!!! :T:T:T You too Andy!! :T:T
Hi triggerhappy and welcome again. Well done on Day 1...but PLEASE be careful about going to the pub to celebrate on the 1st Day!!! Why not leave it a few days at least so you have at least something to celebrate. It's not really having any sort of status if it's less than a day! There's "facing things head on" and being quite a bit premature and I truly think this is the latter! Please, be very, very careful! The nausea thing this morning could also be due to not eating...always eat while on Champix!
Hello again Donna!! Maybe this time round will be the time you quit, I sincerely hope so. So, are you going to stick to CT or patches? Well, I know that if I didn't already have a DSLR that it would be certainly entice me to kick it for good. I love my camera and adore all Nature so I like to get out there as much as possible. I do hope you make it this time Donna, especially if you're getting ready for another little one. No time could be better if you have your family all doing the same. THIS time Donna - and you CAN do it....if you really want to!!:D
Well done everyone, even those having problems - you wouldn't come back here unless you still wanted to be free! Stay strong and keep firm! This can be done!

Good afternoon all!
Wow I didnt manage to long on yesterday evening and there are so many posts to catch up on! How fantastic is that that everyone is joining in?!?! We will win the war agaisnt the evil nicotine! Hurrah!
Stats for me:
3w 3d 14h 59m
£214.59 saved
861 not smoked :eek::eek::eek:
2d 23 hours of my life saved
Again its the amount not smoked that gets me! Im so shocked at that number. I reckon I must have smoked more than I ate, or spoke to hubby, or slept or was awake?! Its horrific! When I see it written its horrific!
Still struggling with the nightmares, but Im assured its hormonal and not smoking related! A few other niggles, all pregnancy related not smoking related.
I still have a few cravings every now and then, but unlike before Im not telling hubby about them (me 'I want to smoke' Hubby - 'well dont your doing so well ' etc) Im just getting up and going loo or having a drink etc.
Keep up the good work all! We are all doing FANTASTICALLY well and we should all be dead proud of ourselves, whether an hour, a day, a week or more! Hurrah!

Hi Sue... Again!
I was going to go cold turkey but I had a real hit of clarity at lunchtime - why on earth would I go cold turkey when so many times I've failed at it? So I've just popped over to Boots and got some 25mg invisipatches and some 1.5mg mini lozenges on the prescription thing they do over there.
She measured my CM levels and they were at 4 so I'm very pleased with that, but then she showed me a newfangled thing which checks your lung age... I got 64 years old!!! I'm 32 but I've been smoking since I was 13 pretty much solidly but it was still a huge shock!
I'm really optimistic. I do hope this is the right time for me. I think so.Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!!

Well done, Sally, another day chalked up, another great day accomplished. I quite agree about the dreams being hormonal and baby related; you may even be a little apprehensive about your little girl arriving and it all comes out in the sleeping hours. The 'cravings' you still have are only due to what nick's left implanted in your brain as nicotine has long since left you, keep fighting them and not allowing him to get the better of you. Shrug them off and think lovely thoughts of cherished memories every time one presents itself, you've plenty to be thinking about that's for sure!
Well done, Donna, a good idea with the patches etc given your past tries. Don't get worrying too much about your lung age, just bear it in mind that it's important you quit now while you're young. From the age of 30 onwards the lung capacity decreases anyway, so just be aware of the fact that you need to give up for good asap...for the good of your health. Well done on the CM levels, that is amazing!! You can do it, Donna, loads of us have done so - and YOU can too!!! Keep talking to us, daily if possible - it really is so helpful. All the best Donna!
Have a good night everyone and refresh yourselves for a whole new day tomorrow......another day closer to the QUIT line!!!

Champix 3 weeks 6 days - 4 weeks at midnight.
Hi everyone
sorry been MIA again, went to db & sil wedding last Friday in lancashire, it was a happy celebration and a toast was raised to sil dad. Unfortunately I was unable to stay for the funeral due to ds2 being due at school on the Monday.
Alot of people kept nipping outside at wedding for cigs, could really smell it on their clothes when they came back in. Didn't even think about having 1 and most days now it is a passing thought. So glad I have got this far and without the support on here, don't think I would have. I am really struggling to remember everyones names though.
Well done to everyone succeeding or even setting quit dates. To those that have had a blip, just try & say 1 day you won't smoke for, I was aiming to quit at new year but had a blip, so managed it finally on 6th January and I'm still taking it 1 day at a time. I am now addicted to cranberry juice.
Take care0 -

Day 3, patches and lozenges - attempt number 327,473
Good morning everybody!
Had a hard night last night, with me on the sofa knitting furiously (my new hobby to keep me busy) whilst my husband sat in the dining room purposely staying away from my foul mood. But I didnt crack!
Today I woke up and as usual, the first thing I thought of was going to have a cig but just went down, put the kettle on and slapped a patch on. Didnt shake the craving so I had one of the mini lozenges (which are absolutely foul by the way) and by the time the kettle had boiled I was fine.
I know its really early days still and I've been here so many times before but I am so fed up of giving up. I think this is it for me.
mmikailian - night times are my worst times too so as I've said above, I've been doing very basic knitting to keep my hands busy and my mind focused and it seems to help. Maybe something "crafty" will help keep your brain active and not thinking about the dreaded weed?Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!!

Lovely to see you safely back, topsyturphy. I'm so pleased that the Wedding went well for them both, though it must have been hard for them and all other loved ones. You're still doing excellently....even if you are becoming addicted to cranberry juice, we all know there are plenty of things far worse than that to become hooked on! So, it will be 4 weeks come midnight - how wonderful you've done and what a time already!!!! A slightly premature congratulations, topsyturphy, but you mightn't be back for a day or two so I'm making sure you get my congratulations now! You've really earned and deserve them!!! :T:T:T
A very warm welcome, mmikailian and well done on starting a whole new life.....smoke-free!!! Great news that you're already on Day 4! Well done on NOT allowing others to smoke in the house...though they should have more respect for those who are stopping or who have quit!! Keep up the jogging and exercising as all exercise is great for those who stop smoking. All the best this time with not going back! You've managed quitting before, keep at it this time - it's never worth not doing!
I know you've had a few attempts that I know of, Donna, but really........THAT many you've put on the Title bar??? Well done on taking the knitting up again, though I had to grin on 'seeing' you separated from your husband like that!!You might have been in a foul mood, but your last sentence "But I didn't crack!" was a great one! :T You also coped marvellously with this morning too! You did just great, Donna, keep hard at it this time and keep us updated. Wouldn't it be brilliant if this time was the time you're searching for!!!! :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j You CAN do it!!!
Hi Sally, some really great advice to both there! By golly you really are getting on wonderfully well!!! :j:T:j You're little one will be cheering you on from inside!!! :j:kisses3::dance::happyhear
Keep strong and keep going everyone!
