Wonderful news, goodgirl!!! So how long is it that you haven't smoked for? If you'd kindly put the amount of days, weeks etc and the method used to quit it would be so helpful to us all, you included. ie. Take a look at Tricia's or Kiwisaver's Title Bar above their post and you'll see what I mean. Why the embarrassed smilie after saying you'd not spent any money on cigarettes?? I hope that doesn't mean what I think it might do?? Please GG, let us know what you're doing.
Hi everyone, the first time I posted I had decided to quit today 1/02/2011. From then on I didn't BUY any cigarettes (I was smoking partner's roll-ups). So last time I bought fags was 24/01. Today is the first day of quitting. Had last cig about 9pm last night.0 -

Yis, I am still here and still not smoking.
However I have been feeling like a miserable old witch for the past few days with nothing nice to say, so thought it best to keep lip tightly zipped and thoughts to myself. I have just been unable to shake the black cloud that has been over my head all weekend.

Hi goodgirl, thanks a lot for letting me know what's what and it's great news that you've stayed true to your word and have stopped for quite a few hours now - very well done indeed!!! :T It may seem like just a short time to you, but anyone who's smoked realises all too well that minutes and hours are HUGE in those first days. You're here with folk who understand you and your feelings though and we understand just how great a thing this is to you - and how marvellous it is! All I'd ask is that you read the PM again and stick to the water, fruit and exercise as all are really good in helping you through. Let us know your feelings - good, bad or indifferent and let them out here....we can provide a door for any battering ram you use!!!
If you're getting on without too many problems then come on here and shout about it!
All the very, very best GG!
Hi again CompBunny, thanks for updating us, though don't they ever keep folk waiting a long time at the Cessation Clinics! Sorry to anyone here who works at a Cessation Clinic!! :rotfl: Well, you never know.....
"yes, of course you can work here, but you MUST give up the fags first!" Just joking as you probably realise.
Where were we?! Seriously, many folk decide on the spur of the moment, or nigh on, to quit and it's then they need the help not in about a month's time! Having said all that, if they're anything like us they're probably busier now than they've ever been - I know we are and it's brilliant to see so many folk stopping and staying stopped!!! :j:T:j
All the best CompBunny, stay as firm with wanting to quit as you were before and as you obviously still are now and you'll get through this evil 'pastime'! Come on back as soon as you're ready and we'll soon have you fag free and well on your journey to quitting!!

Hi there, Kiwisaver and it's wonderful to see you again!! :hello: I'm so glad you told us exactly how you're feeling, don't worry though, you're not the only one who goes through such feelings during the 2nd - 3rd week stage, I promise you. I don't think determined (DNM) would mind at all if I told you she had stages like it.
Are you getting extra exercise? If not increase whatever you were doing prior to stopping. If you do that then you'll help yourself no end as it releases the endorphins into your brain to lift your mood a LOT and quickly! Even brisk walking once or twice a day would do you the world of good. If you used to do it anyway then keep at it but increase it as much as you can, it works wonders. Any exercise DVDs? If so use them - again a marvellous release and will do great things for the brain and YOU!! Treat yourself to something special, you deserve it after 2 + weeks! Keep sipping water to help with any 'brain cravings' that old nick has left you with. Eat a big apple, that and water will help against putting on any extra weight if that's part of your problem. Also remember us ladies have other things going on - allow room for the hormones to be affecting you. If you've any other feelings please don't hesitate to PM me. Talk on here as much as possible Kiwi and get those feelings out...any tears let them flow, they too will do you wonders. Feel like screaming? Get a pillow and literally scream into it and give vent to those feelings. Keep right on talking. Big hugs (((((Kiwi)))) and :kisses3:

Afternoon people :j
Oh Kiwi, I know exactly how you've been feeling i had a complete melt down on Sunday and spent time crying, well more like sobbing my eyes out in the hallway.Big hugs to you :grouphug:
What is it about regaining control of your life that makes you feel like this? I think for me it was a bit of guilt about having half a fag on Saturday night.:wall::mad:
Leading to my next question, how many blips, if any did people have before they classed themselves as a non-smoker? And how long did you go before you classed yourself as a non-smoker?
I've over done it on the exercise, and need to slow down a little and make sure i put in equal amounts of exercise and relaxation. I think i've been scared of slowing down in case i start thinking about fags, but given my health problems, i've just knackered myself out, so i've had some early nights to try to re-balance myself.
good luck everyone and well done:D

Hi guys
Well the day has come or will be very soon, so thought I would pop in and say hello.
I am very aware that I am a habit smoker, as in if I do this then I can have a fag, or before I do that I will have a quick one and then crack on. I have often used it as a reward or a motivator!!
Anyhoos, I am going to do this, and just looking for a little bit of friendship and happy to support anyone else who might need it!
Best of luck to those who have done so well, strenght to those who are having a wobble and god help my family - they thnk I am grumpy enough!

Day 3, cold turkey
Evening all, this is the first time I have managed to grapple the latop off one of my offspring since Saturday, hence why i have not visited. All going well so far, Day one got off to a tricky start, particularly, as Daphne Dog had a bout of bowel incontinence in the night which meant a big POO to clear up on Sunday morning, but I didn't break down.
Eating more and generally grumpy. Husband still smoking, although is his room. Anybody got any coping mechanisims when people smoking in the house? Also, has anyone watched the Alan Carr DVD and did they think it any good? Not massively in debt, but possibly heading there!0 -
