  • Thanks Sue, yep I do intend to keep hold of him, he's fantastic and has stood by me through an awful lot (have to remember to be very sweet in lots of ways ;) not always at the forefront of my mind esp yesterday :o)

so day 5 exciting! :j feeling better with my cold this morning, so hopefully will feel well enough for a run tonight - really driving me a little nuts I haven't been for several days (after all the rubbish I ate over xmas :o)

Az I know it must be difficult for you not being able to put weight on, so if you want you can have some of mine? :rotfl:

I wish everyone a very happy day filled with laughter & joy and hope that the working day comes to an end quickly :)

Hanging on in there - had a very long stressful drive last night, usually one of the times I would most enjoy my smoking.

Hit football traffic in a busy city I didnt know, and got a bit ratty with passengers, but in fairness, I would be like that even with a cig.

Thats a little bug bear of mine.

Whenever I do get justifiably cross, teen daughter rolls eyes and says FGS mother just have a smoke, you are being unbearable. Whereas her Daddy, also on day 6, who has slept his way through the full detox process, cos he is sick, and doesnt even need to go to work this week ( I have a v stressful job, too) is painted as this saint " who is doing marvellously "

    Rant over, onwards and upwards.
    I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<3

Hiya Jo!!! Just noticed you've been on here! Good to see you viewing more quitters in progress on the 3rd Quitting thread, after you started that very first one. If only you'd known then about all the success you started off. I hope you're keeping well. Lovely to see you.

Day 5 already, DNMS!! I know you're intent on getting that run in as soon as possible, but do be careful not to overdo it after being so rough with the cold; saying that, I suppose it'll free you from a lot of stress, just beware not to go to far!

So good to see you hanging in there well, jinty, well done on your determination to beat this, you're going hard at it and deserve to get there. Keep it up and stay strong throughout stressful times - as we know tha fags would only make it far, far worse! Still, whatever happens in your day at least you're sure of being able to rant on here either the same day or the next - why not if it gets it out of your system!

Easy to say I know, jinty, but as you're like it most times then try to relax and ask yourself where's the point in getting stressed about a situation you can do nowt about?? Sit, listen to some music and allow yourself to just mellow with lovely thoughts. That way, you'll stay better for your young teenie too - maybe! Isn't that just typical of a girl though, Dad can do no wrong, whilst poor Mum always gets it in the neck! I had one just like that now she has her own treasures, but I will not say poetic justice, no, never.... How is you hubby today anyway? I do hope he soon recovers from it, our little GSon is very poorly with a virus, the 2nd since the week before Christmas, I hate to see littlies so rough.

Take care everyone, keep strong and Tricia, keep that Nic in a tantrum in his place!!! :rotfl:

    See you later, all.

Hi Jammy! No idea where Larmy's got to, she didn't say anything about being away but who knows?

I hope you're lucky with that job, don't want to be paying anymore the you have to for diesel for sure.

Very wise with your thoughts DBMS, rest up and get some sleep!

  • Hi,

Just been reading through the postings since I posted yesterday.

Yesterday (Day 5) was the worse so far cravings wise, particularly last night, I seem to have chewed through the mouthpiece of the inhalator - I wasn't even hungry lol.

Anyway, today is another day and somehow I feel the worst is now over. I feel a lot calmer this morning with less craving. I have also taken the plunge and put on a smaller patch, I will see how that goes. I know I can always put the larger ones back on if the going gets too tough, but I am determined not to.

I have a spare empty inhalator to to puff (or chew!) on, but so far haven't needed it this morning. I am drinking gallons of water as well to flush out the crap.

Sadly being paraplegic does prevent me doing most excercises other than when I am at the physio or if I have a carer to take me to the pool. I can drive though (have a drive from wheelchair adapted car) which has just been valeted to get rid of the smoke smell. I had never noticed it before, but having stopped smoking I realised just how bad it stank, so I arranged for it to be valeted yesterday whilst I was at work.

Anyway, only half a days work today, so I might just treat myself this afternoon to something - I don't know what. I do know though that I am spending a lot less money - working on a twenty packet per day (occasionally more) I am putting £7.00 per day away - can't believe already am over £40 'in profit' now, tomorrow it will be almost £50 - god I cannot believe I wasted so much money on the dammed things!.

To everyone else, keep up the good work . I nearly 'wobbled' yesterday but stuck with it and feel much better for it. Good luck everyone.

    T-H
  • I like your comment "enjoy the liberation" jammydodger, thank you. I have been off fags since Nov 1st 2010. I've had half a roll-up in this time and it tasted so disgusting, I'm holding that memory tightly and its really helping. Good luck everyone and you are doing the best thing you could ever do for long term health benefits, keep it up!!:T

edit - Im using patches, they really work, just don't fall asleep with one on! x
