Hi,
My first posting on this thread. I packed in on New Years Eve (conveniently I had run out of cigarettes anyway).
I had some patches from a previous attempt, so thought, why not give up again. So the first patch went on am New Years Day (Jan 1st).
As I miss something to do with my hands, I also have an empty inhalator to 'smoke' with whenever the mood takes me (which was decreasing).
I must admit days 1 to 3 went quite well, no major stresses etc. Day 4 back to work, again no stress, so was fairly easy.
Today, I feel dreadful, I seem to be craving despite having the patch on and using the empty inhalator. However if this is the worst I will feel, I can get over it (I just wish it would be sooner!!). I keep telling myself tomorrow will be better - I just hope it will be as I seem to be wavering a bit.
Everone seems to say the worse days are the first days, well my worst has started on day 5. Trust me to be different!!
Tally
Welcome from another newbie!
I think it is different for everyone and, oddly, not the same on different quits. I suppose when you think about it, the nasty chemicals from the smoke interact other things - I read somewhere that caffeine is twice as effective when you stop smoking, for instance.
Don't waver or you will have to do it all again! You an do it :jBut how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Tricia, you can rely on me, I am the absolute soul of discretion and would never tell anyone your age :silenced: - though I think you've done a pretty good job of it, especially now!! :rotfl: I wondered why you used the word Biblical and couldn't make that out ...then there was the retirement part, I'd obviously not noticed the figures in your first post. Still, these days 70's (ooops! I've mucked it up now for sure!) not a great age at all, and never too late to chuck the fags from your life. So, you keep pressing on with it and get your health...wealth too back on good terms.
Hello and a warm welcome, Tally! If memory serves me correctly you were on the first thread, in which case you've done it once so you can do so again! One bad day is usually followed by a good one in which case tomorrow should be much better, I truly hope so. If you're a guy, most unusual, if you're a lady then could it be something else playing up perhaps? We ladies do get it rougher with the emotional side coming into play. For tonight though, I can only bang on about water, drink plenty of it whether it be in sips or a glass at a time, it has great powers for cleansing you too which just may be part of your problem. Take as many walks, jogs, runs as you can (or feel up to) and fill your lungs with much fresher air again. Even going out to the gate and getting fresh air can help if you're not feeling so well. I think the empty inhalator to 'smoke' with is a great idea, it really is a case of whatever you find to be best for you, the individual.
If you're having problems sleeping, and even if you're not, then to help with tomorrow before you go to bed have a bath/shower (not too hot or it makes you restless) and get rid of what sweats out of you - and it does - then have a hot milky drink, read part of a light book until you feel drowsy, then settle down. Getting as much relaxed sleep at night helps so much in preparation for the next day, especially in the early stages of quitting. I hope it goes well for you Tally. Tricia has it summed up well for you though, one time at quitting can be very different to another and the chemicals we inhale must leave our bodies in a very delicate state. What triggered you into starting up again? If it was one of those "one puff/cig won't hurt" moments, they almost always do! Are you sure patches are 'for you'? Keep going strong, Tally!
Have a good and relaxing evening everyone.
See you later,

Hi everyone :j
As you can see, I'm feeling pretty good today, and have done a lot of decluttering, hoovering and general sorting out....not before time either!Tomorrow will take the junk, sorry, treasure to the charity shop, whence it came in the first place .
Ice pops are fantastic especially if you stand them in a mug whilst doing other things, easy to pick up, suck and stand in the mug again....simples!! Had a wander round the garden this afternoon making notes of jobs that need doing , once we get some drier and warmer days.Sorting out seeds this evening so looking forward to the fact it will soon be SPRING woohoo!!
Energy levels seem to be better than for sometime, slight cough but it will go.

I just fell asleep at my desk at work, woke myself up with a big snore hahaha I don't usually snore but it must have been how I fell asleep in my chair. My colleague looked at me funny.

Hi All
Missed reading everyone's post yesterday as computer crashed and drove me mad!! Managed to cope and not give in to the cigarettesI did my deep breathing and stayed calm. I also thought of all the things that are going on in the world that are much worse than giving up the cigarettes, people cope with a lot worse so I can cope another day without smoking, even if my laptop was about to have it's first flying lesson straight out the window, anyway DS fixed the problem and I'm back.
OK, day before yesterday I had a fairly good day no cravings got on with everyday life, then in the evening BAM!! I changed from 'happy' to wanting to slap anyone, felt angry, annoyed, agitated and wanting to just sit there and cry. I just wasn't myself and I knew I was about to lose it and yes, I could have gone out and bought some cigarettes. I came on here and spoke to Ross through PM. I told him how I was feeling, because if I had not I would have screwed up and the past few days would have been written off and I would be on day 1 again! Not only that I think I would have lost my mind the way I was feeling. I can not thank Ross enough, what a man, what a friend, what a person. :T
I read everyone's post because there is always help and knowing we are all going through the same thing or have gone through it, helps me keep on track. So I thank you all.
I went back to work today and had no problems, no cravings. I also found out another work mate is giving up and is on day 4 and about to kill someoneI recommended this site to him, hopefully he will take a look.
Talking of work, as I was going through the children's book bags (as we do) I could smell smoke~yuk~ and, sadly I could smell it on the children's clothes and their hair. It made me feel guilty.
I also went to the cash machine and could smell smoke from the person that used it before me, madness..
Anyway just to let you know I'm doing well and well done to all you quitters
