Another flying check in from me on day 6
My 21 year old son ( home for a visit) has vowed that if his Dad & I can both get to 2 weeks quit, he will also stop. He is a very straightforward lad, and I know he means his word. What more incentive do I need ! I hate him smoking ! His Dad and I are even more determined now, if not for us, for our son. Our younger son ( 19)is coming to visit on Saturday, and we will try to persuade him too !I don't know much, but I know I love you ....<30 -
Hi all,
Two long walks today, last one with an ice pop stuck in my chops :rotfl: did i get some funny looks!! Ah well, have to keep up my reputation of being eccentric
Have had a thumping head ache most of the day and usually fresh air cures it , but just had a couple of paracetamol fingers crossed it goes. Took my discarded treasure to charity shop and bravely resisted looking round.
Docs appointment tomorrow and checkup on the 'smoke meter ' thingy as well as usual repeats.
ROSS hope you feel better soon hun, as SUE and others say...keep drinking lots of water [ or suck ice pops! ]
Another day of freedom for us all :T

Ah, bless you Tricia, joining us one day and helping as much as possible the next - though a syrup sandwich???? That would have me bouncing off the walls instead of sleeping - look out Mat, she's trying to turn us into a ruddy footie team or gym club!!!! You're so right though, Tricia.....if you think it might do you good - try it as it's the only way to find out.
I'm glad you have something in just in case it's necessary Mat, I'd still go through the same routine as you did last night though, you'll be extra tired anyway.determined_new_ms wrote:(a pearl of wisdom someone vey wise said to me once - everyone looks good in candle light & if u are are only naked woman in the room he's gonna fancy you!:rotfl:)
Oh bless whoever it was - though why, why oh why wasn't she talking about a guy????!!!:eek::eek:
Just keep right on running - WHEN you're fit enough DNM, but however you look you're treasured OH must think you're adorable....yet he may well think he needs to change for your sake when you clearly don't think he does! Learn to love yourself whatever you're like now though...and be happy in the now, not waiting until the future when you're a little older anyway!
All best wishes with your cold, Ross, I hope you're soon feeling much, much better.
Excellent about your weight increase, Az!!!!! Thrilled to bits for you! :j
Flipping heck, Jammy....I hope you're not right with these lovely words "Hope its not a computer virus going about amongst" it made me laugh at the images I'm so quick to pick up on - everyone pushing the PCs and Laptops as far away as they can get em. Wonderful news about the job jammy, I'm chuffed to bits for you!!!! :T:T More cash in the pot eh??!!!Seriously, it's good to hear you having some really good news, you do deserve that! :kisses3:

Oh Hattie, we're here to listen to how you're feeling - each of you - and to 'be here' just in case we can help. However, it's great that you want to keep the daily contact, marvellous in fact....and if this isn't the time to deserve to be a little bit of inward thinking (after all you do work and are going to your class!) then when is??! It's just soooooo good to hear you're doing so very well and I'm so thrilled about it all. You be content....and we know you're thinking about everyone, you have to be to have said the latter parts!
Oh Jinty, this day just get better and better...what some news to have given to you both and what a fantastic challenge! :j I do believe you and your hubby are on to a winner - and so importantly - so is your lad!!!! That's really made my day! I wish my lad would read this thread....but some day.
Well done Caz!!!! :j You are doing sooo very well and so much due to being a sucker....of Ice Pops/poles!!! If it works use it and get the benefits!!! The bad head sounds as though it's quitting related and we get so many reports of them, but the Paracetomol should do it for now - though it may return tomorrow - but not definitely! Who cares if you get weird looks, Caz..I'm sure you can cope with that. Keep walking and sucking. Got soaked here when out for a walk earlier, good to get home though and in the warm and dry.
A wonderful day everyone, :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:Tnow relax into a lovely, fag-free evening. Sending lots of love in everyone's direction.

For me this is the impossible. I have mental health problems and would be impossible if (a) was still on old anti psychotics (they make you crave like mad) and (b) not on anti depressants - because I can get so weepy with the withdrawals I can be a danger to myself - usually at that point I go back on the cigs.
So with this in mind I'm doing this my way in my time. Chose the e-cig cos I got a load of 'juice' cheap the other month in a sale. Have to dilute it down though (got max strength LOL) cos otherwise I have a huge OD. Can dilute it down with VG (vegetable glycerine) which is easily available and cheap..
Tried to quit at the weekend (am also a sabbatarian) cos was about to run out of tobacco on Sabbath but no joy..just gone midnight found me going to the 24 hour shop  Discovered the prob - e-cig atomiser completely shot to pieces so blew budget and ordered 5 which came today. These last a min of 2 weeks. Only have 4 batteries so might well need more of those soon but we'll see. Just got to treat the atomisers like gold dust LOL. Had hardly used the last one
Today has been ups and downs. Didn't quit till 12 noon when the atomisers came.. Today's little pleasure has been rediscovering the library (cos am seriously skint hence quitting. Majorly bashed the OD last week. One espresso machine - symptomatic but a good buy and one new vacuum - again a which best buy but a 200 OD bashing...)
So yeah that's me...at one time I was scared of putting on weight with not smoking but am over that after getting so skinny in the summer it felt like I was going to faint on my monthlies.
Best of luck with those going cold turkey - have done that before but I know if I want to quit at this point in my life it's not the way for me..
So here is my unofficial (cos it's not NHS) nicotine withdrawal plan
Week 1 - have nicotine as required just don't OD
Week 2-8 - find out what I need and stick with same dose till week 8.
Week 8 - begin reduction using e -cig aiming to get to just vaping (smoking I guess) VG within 6 months
6 month mark transfer to plastic cig if still need the action
1 year max transfer to just mints
It feels weird to write that out but anyhow...don't know how I'm going to reduce but I guess around week 3 or 4 I will note down the strength of the juice and how many times I'm refilling then dilute again to a weaker strength after week 8 using the VG....
Thanks guys for all the info

Cautiously confident.
It's been a fairly good day and I think I have identified that wanting cig/hungry feeling. It's like stage fright
The scary, sinking tummy feeling when you are about to step out of your comfort zone. In my case, it was giving lectures or reports to students or clients. I read somewhere (sorry would need some time to source the original) that Annie Lennox was physically sick before each performance. But she HAD to perform, just like we HAVE to quit.
I may have read it somewhere in the last 3 months - I've read so much, my head is full!Sorry if I haven't credited the original poster (on this or any other site).
Grandmasam - "have to keep up my reputation of being eccentric" Good on you! Eccentric is my goal!
Jinty - WOW! Great news and what an incentive.
Hattiefats - All respect to you for a fitness class :T:T
jammy dodger - great news on the work prospects. I'm out the other end of that struggle but remember it well.
Azkaban - Another with offers of spare lard. I now have a muffin top but will wait to sort it.
Matt_Lock - hope you sleep well!
rmplc - sorry about the virus. At least it will keep you from the evil Nic! Hope you feel better soon.
About to serve up supper. Cautiously optimistic. :T:T:T:T to us all.But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0
