Tricia, a quick answer to your question. I'd go for not bothering - then see how it goes for a couple of days, if all's well keep it off. However, if you become to agitated or are experiencing an increase in cravings, which I wouldn't think you would after nearly 3 weeks, then pop the half back on. In other words, play it by ear, but don't risk mucking your quit up. I think you'll be ok though. :)

Don't worry, Az, I don't think it's possible any of us could lose ounces in the time you're talking about and to lose a pound is certainly not because of just the dancing. We fluctuate a lot due to all sorts but especially due to water in the body. Well done on all the time that's so quickly passed for you! Be careful with your asthma, I only have a mild form, but am always told by the Dr and Asthma Nurse to take the brown one morning and night without fail. Take care!

Hi heretolearn, it's so good to see you back, and on day 6 too, very well done! Unless you really are suffering with a proper cold, then what you're describing is also described by almost all quitters. It's the body's way of throwing out the rubbish and a cold is a great way to do so as most of it is obviously from the nose and chest.

Try all the relaxing techniques of settling for sleep ie. bath/shower not too hot, then a hot milky drink and get into bed. Then take a little cough mixture, go to bed and read for a little while, or as long as it takes, from a book of light-reading until you feel drowsy - then settle down to sleep. If that doesn't work then get some "Kalms" a natural sleep remedy to use. It will soon come back to normal - just think you've come so far already.....and that 92 year old woman will soon be replaced by a more normal you, one you can smile back at. :) Be so proud of youself:)!!

Hi Mat, it's so good to hear you're feeling much better. I'm fine apart from a very chesty cough which is either an infection (one of the many reasons I quit smoking as I really suffered from then then) or a post cold chest. Either way, I'll be fine soon enough. Thanks Mat.

Look after yourselves everyone and spoil yourselves, you've deserved it.

Sue x Thinking of you all at this momentous time in your lives. :)

    :hello: Just reporting in!

I was a bit apprehensive about Christmas, as I knew my son was going to his dad's and that was always my trigger.............when I knew I could smoke without being terrified of being 'discovered' and also 'for company'

Oh, it all sounds so pathetic.............that's why I love this thread, 'cos someone on here will read it and know EXACTLY what I mean.
    And 'cos I can shout

I HAVE STOPPED SMOKING FOR 22 WEEKS AND 5 DAYS NOW
    th_clap-1.gifhyper_fast.gifth_clap-1.gif
I can't tell anyone in real life as no one realised I smoked (God knows how, just thinking about the smell!!!)
I am pleased to say I wasn't really even tempted. I do know that a lot of that is down to this thread and all you lovely lot tho'. :A
Was rushing round the supermarket last night to pick up a couple of bits and got talking to a lady who wanted to give up smoking.

Luckily I had a pen/paper in my bag to write down this site/thread details :D;)

    if you're lurking

So lovely to see all the new posters and WELL DONE to you all :T

    Thanks Jammy

I feel just like you...............gave up in Nov 2001 but started having a packet of 10 every 2nd weekend (Fri eve til sun afternoon) when the boys went to their dad's in Sep 2005.
Eventually met my OH who smoked and rather than stop, I gradually smoked more and more.
We split up in the summer and I stopped smoking! Every cloud........... :rotfl:

But this time it feels different...........although it was fairly easy last time, as time went on I wanted to smoke again more and more

This time I WILL NOT SMOKE AGAIN...........this time I'm ready for Nick O'Teen to come and try to lure me...............

Hi everyone, so lovely to see lots of new people on here supporting each other.

It can be tough in those first few days and weeks but it will be worth it.

Now I am 21 months down the line I feel it is time to get to grips with my weight which has been going up and down over these last couple of years.

My problem with quitting, was that I would stop for so long, eat to replace the cigs (even though I knew it was the wrong thing to do), start again, blaming the weight gain, quit again.........each time ending up a few pounds heavier. I managed to lose a stone a couple of years ago, but I was using nicotine to stop eating.

So here I am 21 lbs heavier than I would like to be and it seems fitting that as I am 21 months of Nick, I should tackle this problem that is making me so miserable.

I don't even overeat anymore, it's a cumulative problem and despite being quite active, I am fighting middle age spread. I have to face that I am just one of those people who gains weight easily which really pees me off, but there you go.

So I shall pop in from time to time to see how you are all getting on.
This thread has a life of it's own and whatever method you are using, it is the best aid in your success.

So best wishes to you all.

Hoping I won't be as snappy today as I was yesterday. I managed to snap at a work friend and I really shouldn't have. I told him I was quitting the cigs and I hope he understood where I was coming from.

I'm so sorry, Mat, for some daft reason I completely missed that bit, possibly because I was keen to write how glad I was that you'd had a much better night etc. That'll teach me to look further in future. Anyway, if your work friend knows anything at all about people and quitting smoking, then I expect he understands why you flew, especially as you explained it to him, apologised too no doubt.

Hiya DD and very many congratulations on having come soooo far on your journey!!! :T:T:T I'm so pleased Christmas was ok in the end for you, not easy, but you got there, all down to determination and staying in the knowledge that your health wants you to stay free from it and all it brings. Keep at it DD, you're doing terrifically and the pride you're feeling is well-earned!!

Hi jammy, you've done so very well and swung straight back into the quit mode in an amazing way, at lightening speed too. Good for you!

Well done on blowing a 1 in the CM meter Caz, that is splendid news!! Not too sure what you mean about the patches?? I do so hope you soon get your walk-mate as you'll longed for one for so long now. Well worth waiting and quitting for when you're preparing yourself in this healthy way. One more day and that first great milestone!!!

    Nice to see you, Larmy.

For those of you who go to bed early(ish), have a good night's sleep, but if you're not able to succeed, remember that it'll so soon come back to normal.
