    Hi, all!

I've been keeping busy as I can't get out :( . It has snowed most of the day and I have to be careful on ice as I have dodgy legs. Still, on the upside, we have lots of bread in the freezer, meals prepared/cooked for the next few days and some remarkably clean rooms

Those of you thinking that coughs/sore throats etc., are down to the Big Quit watch out. The number of people with these symptoms who have not quit - in fact, never smoked - is amazing. To be honest, it doesn't sound like flu. (In my experience, if you have full blown flu, you do NOT manage to keep going).

One item (slightly off topic, sorry) is that a DIL has this vague nasty and the doctor gave her a private prescription for antibiotics because it was a £ cheaper than an NHS one.

Fletch3163 It's great to hear from long term quitters. Thanks for the encouragement.

Mat Don't give me a heart attack again! Glad all is going well but I could do without reminders that I need to do something about the weight gain. :rotfl:

topsyturphy 2 days is fantastic and I do agree with the 1 day at a time idea. I'm just starting to believe this is permanent but it still sends a little quiver down my spine at the idea

hattiefats 7 days is a big milestone. A new top is a great reward and well deserved.

larmy16 Having read both of the previous threads, I feel I know you already ;) It really does help us newbies to hear from people who are farther along the journey. Thanks.

grandmasam A 1 is so encouraging. Glad you managed to sort the patches out. I've heard that the different manufacturers have different adhesives and so some people are allergic to the different adhesives but not that the ingredients themselves are different - on further thought, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised!

dundeedoll I agree! If Nic O'teen tries messing with my brain, he's going to get a surprise

jammy dodger I'll make the same pledge. If I'm in danger of slipping, I'll be posting on here straight away. This is my only support lifeline as my DH has never smoked, has no idea what it is like to quit and I've not even told him I have stopped :rotfl: I presume he has noticed but . . . I remember Feedumall didn't tell her family till she was a month quit and they were astounded

I've decided to put a half patch on again tomorrow as I REALLY do not want to risk a blip. I'm leaving it till after breakfast now and I will gradually take it off earlier each day till it gets to a ridiculously short time. Call it my security blanket!

Well done, everyone. :T Your posts teach me something new each day and the thought that we are going forward together is very comforting.

A special thank you to SueUU who is always there for us all and gives us so much support and help. :A:T:T

    Cautiously confident.
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?
  • hi everyone, needing to pop on as am having a really tough time today. Am embarrassed to say have been feeling very insecure today and emotional (am convinced everyone thinks I'm annoying :o), have been crying this evening thinking about smoking - remembered that I have felt this way before when I have given up.

Sorry to be really negative but thought maybe you'd give me a stern talking to and I'd pull myself together... ok gonna go and read the updates...

  • Dnm - its ok to feel a bit odd, stop worrying. Go and put the kettle on or something. What works for you on a pamper evening - PJ's, nice smellies etc.

I find cleaning my teeth and then lying in bed in clean Pj's, reading, listening to the radio or watching drivel TV quite relaxing.

Everyone feels insecure, its ok. Just let it wash over you. You can do this, its only evil Mr Nic being cruel x
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x
  • Sounds like a great plan. A few on here go running and I may take it up again when I move back into the suburbs (I live in a city centre apartment at the moment). The dog will adore that too, you'll be his God! Well done to you too, you're doing amazingly well :)

I used the progrmme/schedule called "from coach potato to 5k in 9 weeks" to get into running - for the first time ever in my life :T- really easy & gently builds up I can either pm or post on here if ppl are interested? :)

I think being unwell is really bumming me out as well (sooooooo sorry I'm so negative, I don't mean to be :o) but still feeling rough. went to the pharmacy earlier to get some meds and the woman there told me she has had it for 5 weeks  I really want to go for a ru and feel better but can't until I feel better :(

I love being active. I tend to walk most places, I do yoga a few times a week and I Lindy Hop and Charleston at least twice a week, sometimes more if I don't have my son that weekend and I have enough funds to go to the Swing night, then it's donning the dress and the red lipstick and Swing out here I come :)

I want to run though. I like the idea of it, that you can just put your trainers on and go, you don't have to wait for a class or even for anyone else to want to go with you. Mind, I'm probably not fit enough, me and a couple of swing dancers went to a Ceilidh last month and we were bent over double after the first dance! Shocking. Ha.

The cold will pass, and it may be that the receptionist is horribly unhealthy which is why she's been ill so long, you may be fine tomorrow or even the next day. And, you can beat the nicotine. You've done so well, keep your chin up AND remember that we don't give into children with little tantrums ;) Thanks again to whoever likened Nic to that, I do forget but I still love it :)

    Hi determined

If you are feeling ill anyway, I always get very sensitive and emotional when ill and when I was cutting back the cigs felt like that on occasions too. It's good that you have posted on here.

It would be great if you could pm me the details on the couch potato to 5k plan in 9 weeks. I know that I need to change my fitness to maintain this, although I usually do a couple of hours walking a day with the dog.

Hope you feel better and brighter soon. Take care
