I forgot to add that I have sent off for a Quit Kit (NHS) you get a weeks free worth of patches..
Some Tesco, Sainsbury, and Co-Op stores are doing the offer..
Apparently not Asda, but they do a big pot of lemon yoghurt that taste yummy, and it's only 50p at the moment..

Oh, just had a thought..Does NDS mean 'No Spending Day'? All this time I thought it meant 'No Smoking Day' No wonder over on SPC I couldn't work out what some people meant..
I shall post coffee to you..

Hi DNM, why would you feel embarrassed? This is an emotional time and can be so much more for we females. Let go of the tears - please! Nobody would ever think of you as being annoying, everyone would, I'm quite positive, know and fully understand all that you're going through. No doubt this is all part of the process during a not so good stage of we women's lives and hormones are a pig at times. I'd love to give you a huge great hug and hang onto you whilst you cry it out of your system, as I can't you turn to your beloved OH for all his love and support and cry some more to him. He loves you dearly and understands you.
If you think a stern talking to might do you some good - then for goodness sake DNS, just have a good cry and then think how darn lucky you are to be able to give up smoking and not be seriously ill in hospital with a very serious life-threatening illness due to smoking!!! We have plenty of people on the 2nd thread who did not get that chance, one is getting a chance at life, but has a very serious lung problem as well as Emphysema! Others have COPD, sadly the Sister of one of our members passed away in the summer and my own SIL died almost 2 years ago due to emphysema. You do not want to end up as a statistic to the numbers given out on the news - you want to live, love and enjoy the life you're blessed with, not lose it all to those wretched cancer sticks!!!
It's no good, I can't do strict for too long, it exhausts me, but I don't want to lose any of my dear friends here to fags! You've been feeling really rough this week DNS and need to cosset yourself, especially after tough days. How about going out somewhere you'd really love to go tomorrow (today), buy yourself something lovely as a reward for how bloo*dy terrific you've been! This board is here for how people feel - good or bad - it's what we invite you to do....and no one here thinks bad of you, no one at all, we all have hearts and you are in them, like it or not. I won't give you one of those revolting smilie hugs, but here :kisses3: :heartsmil is that just a little better? I do hope so.
Much love, Sue x
A great achievement after completing Day 2, topsyturphy and what a saving so quickly!!! Keeping it at doing it one day at a time is all I'd ask from anyone, just make a pledge each morning "I'm choosing not have any today, but should I wish I may have some tomorrow". Live out the that day without any, then make the same resolve at the start of the next Day and so on. It's a mind over matter trick, topsyturphy, put it to the test and let's see if you can do this right to the end!!! Another trick is to put the money saved into a pot and then save it up for those running shoes you're after, remember you'll deserve a great treat!! One thing you have on your side right now is the determination to do it, the other is that you have so many newfound friends here that you can go side by side with - all seeking the same purpose - a healthy life free from smoking-related illnesses!Mat_Lock wrote:I bought a packet of cigarettes tonight.............

You rotten devil, Mat!! My heart really sank when I read that first line. Marvellous news about your Silkquit stats!!!
Hi there fletch! Isn't it so very good to see the words 4 years quit and know you've made it that long!! The vitamin C in orange juice helps cleanse the body of the nicotine and I thoroughly agree the breathing technique which mimics the fags and how we did it for so long during that time and it can be done without anything, just breathing slowly, but deeply. All very best wishes to you and your hubby.
Thanks for letting folk who need it know about the cheaper NST help, Az!
Many congratulations, splishsplash!! :T:T Still doing so very, very well then and I've no doubt at all that you'll continue doing just that. Good to see you helping the others on, splishsplash, thanks for that.
Have a lovely weekend everyone - and treat yourselves!

Firstly for anyone and everyone: Tricia mentioned that after already having clicked the Quote button from one post she doesn't know how to quote a paragraph/sentence from another member's post to add to her post. If you all just click on any Quote button then have a look at the beginning of the post and at the end, you'll see there are characters before and after the speech. Use those on any and every part of speech you wish to highlight to answer and it'll work. Either that or just delete the parts that are irrelevant.
Erme, I really do wish you well to succeed with quitting as you'll be far more relaxed with out fags in your life. I'll be fank and say that I know nothing about the e-cigs as in general here we consider them to be too close to the real thing - but - I really do understand that there are people who can only possibly do it by using them. Whatever happens, just keep right on plugging away at quitting. The very best of luck!
This has put me off posting
Just thought I'd say that....even if it's about maintenance nicotine surely this is better than cigs?
And it's early days.....
So don't know if I'm welcome on here or not....quite scared of this thread now because I'm not able to go 'cold turkey'. I got bullied on another thread last year and I'm not going through that again. The main reason I chose the e-cig is cos I need more than 20mg of nicotine a day initially - Hence I went with the e-cig cos the max fluid is 32mg (which I dilute down to about 24mg)...and there was no way I was going back on the spray. The spray is worse than the e-cig.
Actually if you're hooked on the vapour you only get decent vapour for about the first 20 minutes. Not wanting to waste juice I'm trying to not make it a big deal quickly and trying to make sure my cart is completely (near enough) dry before I change it...so aiming for about 3 carts a day right now...
Yes it's been tempting cos I did like the taste of cigs and when I need nicotine I NEED NICOTINE. Obviously it takes a tad longer with any form of inhalator but the snail wins the race
Still have a prob with sleep - dang but had that before I started to quit. Noticed the toastie at the toastie club last night tasted burnt - then double checked it LOL.....And Mr A smart price hot choc tastes better than ever
So that's my wee disocoveries....alas not all my friends are being 100% supportive and I am a tad more sensitive than normal but I guess that's withdrawal from the 101 other nasties in cigs besides nicotine..
And for the record guys is ERME not ernie or any other derivative....

Hi Erme
I'm sure that you are welcome on this thread. It's for everyone who is trying to quit smoking regardless of method. I don't know much about e-cigs but if they work for you go for it. I'm on patches this time but have quit in the past using patches, cold turkey and champix. They all had their benefits! My view is that every cigarette not smoked is a plus so whatever works for you is fine. Good luck and keep popping in! I find it really helps!:)
Determined I hope you are feeling better today-the cigarette weepies "as I like to call them" usually get me at some point too. Hope today is a better day for you :jTRYING VERY HARD TO START SAVING!

awwww thanks hattie (and everyone else) eeling much better today, phew was a difficult night there. Was convinced I was the most hated person in the world, my whole life was coming to an end, spent at least 3 hours having a heart to heart with oh about all that is wrong in our relationship
(I'd just like to add this is all fantasy, he's the most wonderful person I have ever met and I'm so happy & lucky to have met him and he me as well)... Not sure who said it but I think its pretty apt to say it was nasty nic being cruel  no need to worry tho gang as I have "resolved I will not smoke today" I maybe will tomorrow (I won't
) but definately not today...
also a big thanks to nym who chuckled me out of the danger zone until 12ish last night :A
phew but i'm outta the woods thanksfully today! Wnt to check my silkquit but ds has moved into the spare room as he is decorating his room & that's where the pc is!
Erme lovely I'm not sure why you felt this way, but understand its really easy for things to be mis-interpreted on the ole tinternet. However from what I know of sue (and its early days so its not much) is that she really is one of the sweetest & most kind hearted people out there and she would not have meant to have made you feel anything but welcome. Whatever method of cutting down and then stopping that is going to work for you is ok. Use the e-cig and then move on to stopping as you have outlined, when you're ready go to the smoking cessation service and get either patches or inhalator or whatever - no-one expects you to go cold turkey everyone is different so a different route is needed for each individual. I'm routing for you as I know you deserve to be free from the evil habit and have that cash in your pocket to spend on lovely things for you
and oit woman ppl make mistakes, don't be so harsh, but I'm sure everyone gets its erme from here on out :rotfl: (I know I can say this to you and give you a it of gentle ribbing as we're friends on another thread/thru emails so I think we can take it, right?) x

Awww Erme I hope not, any cessation from cigarettes is better, perhaps Sue was just saying it's not normally a method that's recommended because it's so very near smoking cigarettes? We all have different methods. What works for you is good. And please don't ever feel that you can't post.
Yes it's been tempting cos I did like the taste of cigs and when I need nicotine I NEED NICOTINE. Obviously it takes a tad longer with any form of inhalator but the snail wins the race
Yes indeed the snail does win the race - and also this is your journey, not anyone else's, we're all in this together and I personally don't think it matters if you're one day quit or one year, we're still just one cigarette away from being addicted again. And I think your attitude is great
Still have a prob with sleep - dang but had that before I started to quit. Noticed the toastie at the toastie club last night tasted burnt - then double checked it LOL.....And Mr A smart price hot choc tastes better than ever

Damn them! <Hands cattle prod over> Some folks are scared that you'll manage to quit when they've always felt they can't, or they've failed often, you're doing so well with your quit that perhaps you're making it look easy and therefore them looking bad? I think I can speak for everyone on here, we'll all be supportive any time you need, I will always reply to a PM (well when I sign on I will) so feel free to vent any time you need.
And for the record guys is ERME not ernie or any other derivative....
