topsyturphy wrote: »Evening everyone
Managed day 3, didn't feel the cravings so bad, but I have been so bad tempered and moody with everyone at home. Was quite weepy this morning too. This afternoon was better took dog out for a walk and did some baking with ds2. Went to shops today but not tempted to buy any.
Still taking 1 day at a time. Hope I'm not as crabby tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences, it really has helped not to feel so alone. Well done to everyone else that is suceeding in the quest to get rid of nasty nic.
Well done for getting through day 3. I wonder if the bad tempered bit is because we 'withdrew' from the situation to have a cig? I've found that I've had to count to [STRIKE]10[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]50[/STRIKE] 100 a few times over the past few daysPoor DH!
I do wonder if the cig break just left me feeling 'ah, well. It's not worth making a fuss over.' when it might well have been easily sortable if I had faced it head on the first time. The classic example is how someone squeezes the toothpaste tube - it seems to come up as an example in every psychology text book
I'm rambling now or over analyzing my reactions. Sounds as if I would be better off in bed.
Well done, everyone. Together, we can do it. :cool:But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Hi everybody :hello:
Another day of success :j Tomorrow will be 3 WEEKS smoke free. I've had my moments  but have come this far without any mayhem or murder - not even justifiable manslaughter
I've come round to the idea that there is the 'right' moment to quit, though I wish it had come sooner. I worked towards it for two months but the actual moment was quite spontaneous and so far (touch wood, cross fingers, etc.) has gone better than I anticipated after 40 years of Nic O'teen ruling my day.
There's a fair way to go yet and I am not counting my chickens but . . . .
I have just begun to feel more energy.
I don't watch the minutes or hours in the same way.
My sinuses have begun to clear.
I can smell things much more strongly (a mixed blessing).
Most importantly - I feel more in control.
I don't have to think ahead to when I can next have a cig.
I don't count how many I have left till tomorrow.
I haven't been to a shop for 5 days :T If I had needed to get cigs, I would have bought other things as well. I am so much more MS :j
Go,me!
Go, all of us!
We CAN do this. :T:T:T
what a FANTASTIC post sums it all up really
what we are doing it all for

Tricia your post is lovely, an made me chuckleI have been a bear with a sore head today, there's only 2 ways anything can go its either perfect or absolutely useless (unfortunately it seems anything my oh does falls into the latter catagory :rotfl:luckily he makes a joke of it and we laugh it out but oh my there have been a few times when he's gone off out of the room and comes back a couple of minutes later asking if its "safe to come back into the room"
:rotfl:
it is totally fantastic that we're all doing this, we rock
I hope you're feeling better now ross, I've felt better today but oh started to feel ill again earlier this evening and now he's feverish. While I was optimistic that nym's idea that the pharmacy receptionish was a unhealthy old hag (:rotfl:) I fear that this virus has longevity as fil who is superfit is still feeling bad when he first got the bug in Oct  he's coming round with a load of borrocca tomorrow so we may be ok...

I just want to say Hi and WELL DONE to all of you...................some are further along the fag free road than others, but every one of us has made the same decision: To STOP smoking!!!
Sorry to hear some of you are feeling a bit eeerrrr, shall we say..........uptight???and others not well from the blessed lurgy that's going around.
I know when people stop smoking they worry about putting on weight (Yes Az, I know......and some look forward to it!) but especially in the very early days, it is VITAL that you eat properly (No, not just biccies/choc ;-( ) as well as drink lots of water.
It's all to do with the link between smoking and bloodsugar (I posted links to the article on this thread) It makes such a difference, as it does influence cravings as well. (The same is true for trying to reduce alcohol intake)
Topsy I know it may seem like it would be so much easier to think 'Oh stuff it, I've had enough of feeling so bad tempered and moody with everyone at home and weepy, I'll be better off smoking again!'
These feeling WILL pass fairly soon............soon you will not be feeling so weepy and moody, your body just needs to adjust at the moment. Well done you for keeping going and finding things to do, like dog walking and baking etc and for coming on here for support and to vent! The misery when you stop smoking is temporary.................if you continue it will be permanent.
I just know that you will work your way through it!
Determined new ms It's so nice to see how you've embraced this thread and how you're helping others.............I totally agree with you IT'S THE BEST!!!

Triciaxx, congrats on 3 weeks smoke free, if your anything like me you will be sitting there thinking 'oooh another week and it will be a month'.
Ive just re-read your list and agree with every single one, one that also crossed my mind was not having to plan xmas around smoking, or holidays for example I have not been on a long haul flight for years as I couldnt hack the flight/not smoking lol
Also completly agree about going to the shop daily, and buying extra bits whilst there, I have not been into the shp at the top of my road since I quit as I now have no need to go in there lol
