    It will be Ross!

Tricia's post reminded me of something I posted soon after stopping............it was originally posted by donnaessex and I adapted it slightly and printed it off and have looked at it often.

I hate having to make sure I've got enough fags for the day.

I hate having to shove a packet in my (already) overstuffed bag.

I hate going into the shops asking for 20 cigs pretending they're not for me.

I hate not wanting to talk to people because my breath stinks of smoke.

I hate that I spend £15 a week on something I set fire to.

I hate getting up 10 minutes earlier so that I can have a cigarette

I hate that I have to sit in the garden in the snow and rain.

I hate that I cant sit still after eating a meal.

I hate getting stressed in the morning just because I havent had my tea and fag yet.

    3 WEEKS

    GO ME

    :j:j:j:beer::j:j:j
The scary bit is that that is 630 of the nasty evil things that have not put their chemicals into my body. 630!!!

Well done every one out there. Yes, Ross, it has passed quickly . . . on the other hand it seems like a long while since I looked at the burning stick in my hand and stubbed it out.

Dundeedoll mentioned low blood sugar and I'm sure some the 'cravings' are signals from my body that it needs food and I misinterpret them as wanting nicotine. I suppose some of the cigs we used to smoke were in response to hunger pains :( and that is why it was easier to keep the weight at bay.

I don't think I'm eating more now Christmas is over but I've definitely put on weight. Ah, well! With the weather we're having I'll justify it as keeping me warm ;) Once the weather is better, we'll get out for more walks again and it will come off. Cross fingers, toes, eyes etc. :rotfl:

Have a successful and calm day everyone.
We WILL do it together. :T:T:T
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?
  • A whole week without smoking! :j

very proud of what I have done, and I am trying my best to encourage others to try to stop if they want to :) I think the fear stopped me doing it before now - but since I've stopped I realised there wasn't anything to fear!

I think with the weight I can't have put any on since xmas as am eating normally and healthily (mostly) so it mustjust be christmas weight or if I am eating slightly more then I should have been a bit bigger anyway!

    Congratulations everyone x

Dundee, how true is that list, when you sit there and think about it you realise how much you chamged your life around to suit nic!!

thats when you also realise its my life, i wanted it back and so i took it! :j

Triciaxx, well done on hitting the 3 week mark, its digscusting when you realise how many you would have smoked, when you realise that you smoked that amount before and never batted an eyelid.

Well Done Triciaxx and determined, and EVERYONE ELSE who have made it to a milestone, bearing in mind that every minute we spend smoke free is a milestone!

Determined, how have you found it going cold turkey? I tried cold turkey once, but I personally could not handle it, so I take my hat iff in admiration to all those that can do cold turkey, thats not to say any other method is of lesser value, as the end goal is giving up a very powerful addiction, come to think of it, i couldnt quit cold turkey, or with patches, gums, inhalators, zyban ... the only thing that worked for me was champix

Jammy, I feel the need to echo you statement tat is there are any lurkers out there (and we know there are) plase come inside and chat with us, we dont bite, there is sooo much support in here it is unreal, there are so many people quitting on here at the moment, yet we are supporting every single person :)

Mat, nothing gives you a nicer feeling than going back to people and proudly announcing 'I gave up smoking', please take the time to enjoy the attention it will bring you, you deserve it, is your home town nearby or a while away?

I hope every one is keeping well and smoke free?

  • ross I haven't found it too bad tbh - hardest thing was day 6 & 7 with feeling incredibly insecure and doubting myself/bordering on self hate - but I've had that before with patches/zyban so don't think that's anything to do with cold turkey. I think what has made it easier this time is without doubt this thread - I can't even describe how nice and caring and supportive it is (this is for the lurkers out there) and talking of supportive where's sue? I'm missing her lovely kind words! and also am quting with my oh and in the past I was single, there have been a couple of times when I have tested oh to see what he would say but he's like no!

I am struggling with the (psychological) weight issues - already!- but that's been standard whichever method I've used in the past and I have to keep reminding myself I have 2 priorities 1. getting well again and 2. staying smoke free - I can loose weight in the future and also I should learn to love being a bit more voluptuous

and on that note I'm gonna go for a run in a minute :j:j:j

Mat hope you have mucho laughter with ur bessie and a fab roast with your folks x

    Hi again all,

How many of us have downloaded silkquit meter?

For those that have not, you can find it here: (http://www.silkquit.org/stop-smoking/quit-meter.aspx) make sure you download the free one!

The current reading on mine, as an ex 40 a day smoker is:

    Smober Time: 1m 3w 6d 12h 42m 40s
    Amount Saved: £644.32
    Ciggies not smoked: 2301
    Life Saved: 1w 23h 45m

I would advise people to download this little tool, as it shows how well you are doing, what you have done, what you have not spent.

If you have it could I ask you to update us all??
