As for me. Dreams are getting weirder and weirder - not smoking related I dont think - hormonal Im guessing. Not sleeping very well at all which is not like me. Im bathing, having a milky drink, lots of lavender around the room and it worked up until recently - I suffer from epilepsy which is aggravated by lack of sleep so docs have been on and on at me about resting well...seem o have a problem with it recently though! Plan on sleeping lots this weekend!
Oh that post sounded like woe is me! And I didnt mean it to! Im just tired but very happy and 20 days smoke free is cracking for me
Keep up the good work allx
hey sal I'm having the weirdest dreams also - really long epic ones, often have some element of work in there and I keep waking up at 3am and being awake for 30-45 mins thinking about some work tricia so it may be about the smoking rather than hormones? I usually sleep like a log so is very unsual for me...
I am embarrassed to say:o:o I had to go to the emergency dentist at the hospital last night as I have a particularly furocious gum infestion that just isn't clearing with over the counter meds
:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o
the dentist informed me this is common with giving up smoking as the smoke restricts blood flow to gums and then when you stop normal blood flow returns and the gum issue can then florish
Nobody told me about that little gem...

oooh Determined, i've had that problem, following a really good clean, about a week afterwards I ended up having an emergency appt and on antibiotics, and that was on one of my many practice stops in preparation for this one true successful quit. :j
They explained that it was actually a good sign as it shows that your blood supply is improving due to the crap in fags coming out of your system which constricts blood vessels and therefore you tend to get more bleeding gum issues.
On another note its friday, a nervous time for me, so i've booked the n/s b/f in so i can't smoke and don't want to drink as he's on a keep fit drive
good luck everyone

Hi again sailorswife, good to hear from you and hear how your back is, though very sorry it's no better. I hope your Dr's been able to help or advise you and you'll soon be far more comfortable. Good to hear you're benefitting from Allen Carr's book, so many people swear by his help so read it as and when you need to; though you seem to be doing very, very well indeed just as you are. Good to hear the cough's improving.
All the very best with losing weight as with weight loss and no fags you'll very soon feel sooo much healthier and find everything so much easier to do! You sound as though you're really set on getting your life back in order and the lack of cigs and food bought will make an extreme difference - grab hold of that new lease of life SW and live your dreams!!! Please let us know how the AC weight book goes for you, it's good to have feedback at the front door, so to speak. It'd be good to hear what your Dr says too - please?! *See below for some weight loss help.*
Hi jennyo, why wait til March to try to lose weight?? You're quitting right now and losing some weight and (presumably) exercising to help you with quitting, so if you do more exercise than you have been it's all to the good. Even climbing the stairs about 20 or more times a day is a great help and makes a vast difference if done every day! If you can aim to get about 10,000 paces per day in then you'll be losing weight straight away! Go on out for a brisk walk, then next week go a little faster and for a little further. If you have, or can get, exercise dvds then do them indoors, or make use of an exercise bike, if you have one! - you get the picture. Whatever exercise you're doing now ...up it and lower your intake, that's all it takes! If you've been overeating due to stopping smoking then have a look at the PM again and stick to the water, Ice Poles (go on try them!!) and fruit. Remember too that portion control also is something to really take note of; use smaller plates, cook a little less, but make sure that you drink a glassful of water 3/4 hr before you eat - it goes a great way to lowering your intake for each meal. Don't drink water if you're going to eat in less than 3/4 hr or you'll wash away the enzymes needed to digest food properly. Keep sipping water between meals so you don't get hungry, eat your fruit during meals too, a large apple does fill you up. Whenever you're out in the cold and shivering - don't worry about it as shivering gets rid of calories!!!!!Act now and with loss of weight and quitting fags you'll be far more able to enjoy Spring and Summer!!! Go on Jenny and sailorswife, you CAN do both! :j <-- Yes...just like that! :rotfl:
Hi there Sally! Getting late in the pregnancy is renowned for messing your sleep up, it's natural so don't worry. Though I honestly do know epilepsy is aggravated by sleep deprivation - be very, very careful about sleeping at the weekend or you'll mess up your night time sleeping completely!! Have no more than 1/4 hrs sleep in the day or you won't sleep properly at all in the following night and with a baby on the way you'll need to keep up with sleep. Getting plenty of rest now you're getting close to childbirth doesn't mean sleeping in the day but putting your feet up and relaxing. Please take note of the 1/4 hr bit, believe me I do know! Aside from that you're doing brilliantly!!! :T:T
You Dentist is right, DNM. You may need antibiotice, but whatever it is is probably only a short term thing. Think yourself fortunate that you don't now need be looking at a LOT of problems with rotten teeth!! We've had 2 or 3 folk with bills of £3000 to help get their teeth sorted out!!! One poor woman admitted she couldn't open her mouth as she was so ashamed of her teeth!!! What a price to pay and all due to those blasted fags!!! I was lucky and escaped those problems (though I had bleeding gums for a good while), let's hope you all are too! Maybe just put the sleep down to the all the re-adjusting that your body needs..give it chance to sort itself out. We've put our bodies through so much for goodness how many years, it's hardly any wonder they're rebelling a bit now! Keep to your normal sleep and what you do before settling for bed, if you don't do much then step up the relaxation. If you need to get up in the night, have a drink of milk or a small glass of smoothie then go back and think beautiful thoughts until you drop off, just don't try and catch up in the day or you'll muck your sleep up completely. *See the bit to Sally above.*
Aha...another toothy problem with you then maz...or should I say gummy!;) Thank goodness your is being sorted out - the things that smoking and nicotine affects!!! Am I missing something with the "n/s b/f" B/f being boyfriend maybe, but the rest??? Well done with the quitting maz, you're doing so very, very well!!
An excellent day for all so far...well the girls anyway!Keep at it lads too and little by little, day by day you're getting there!!

:eek::eek::eek: Oh, flippin eck, sailorswife!!!!
So sorry about that, but I am pleased you've finally got help for your poor back. Strong anti-inflammatories are obviously what you're in need of. Give yourself a restful weekend and let the AFs do their job. I do hope you're soon feeling much, much better. Can you imagine what things would have been like if you'd tackled all that I'd put above!!! _pale_  :doh:Get well soon!
Well done Jenny! We all enjoy life much more if we keep weight off ....so long as you haven't got awful pain in your back!!! I'm off before she sues me! Actually there's a dreadful unintended pun in there! :rotfl:
Absolutely no running after anyone sailorswife!

Hi
Had a lousy day but did not have a cigarette:D
Has anyone else noticed that their taste in food has changed?
Stuff that I liked now tastes awful & things that I would not usually eat actually taste pretty good. Very strange.0 -
