Thanks everyone for the boosting. Hoping to be a less grumpy madam in a few days
I hope in a little while I can pass on the boosting to other fellow quitters. Everyone seems to be doing so well. Having a support board like this (where you can be a bit grumpy sometimes) does help.
Keep at it all !!

hello all, just checking in to let you know i've not fallen off the wagon! still smoke free, and becoming a bit of an anti-smoking bore to be honest, haha.
my BFs mum recently had a heart attack, and has sworn off cigs since, but has said she's going to find it difficult as the hubby smokes, and everytime i see him i remind him, anyone can quit, you just have to want to! at times it may be really difficult, but as long as you want to quit more than you want to smoke, with a little bit of encouragement you can get there, and especially with them both doing it together. but he's having none of it0 -

That gave me a laugh, thanks.I agree with you!! I'm feeling much more in control and determined this time, it certainly helps to have a world of information, support and advice at your fingertips that simply was not available the last time I quit.
I love the fact that I can do this on my own terms with you guys cheering me on in the background rather than judging. All these Government funded cessation schemes, nurses etc could learn a thing or two, rather than sticking a million posters on the walls and nipping at your heels and nagging at you every day via pictures of diseased lungs on the back of fag packets and constant threats of increased prices or taxation.
Anyways I've been fine for two days on approximately 2/3 of a patch, I cut them before peeling them off the silver backing so I doubt they will lose any tackiness in a few days. I'll stick with the current regime now until next Tuesday as we have a long weekend coming up and then see about using up the offcuts.
As for eating, I'm certainly getting my full quota of 5-a-day, which has never been known in the past.I have been reading a Detox diet book and got some really good reminders there on all the things that are good for us and the benefits of certain foods, vitamins, antioxidants etc that will hopefully help to heal our bodies and repair cells that have been undoubtedly damaged from years of smoking.
I agree with all that, especially the being in control and having the info.
I love the positive vibes today and it is good to see so many people joining us. :T:T
Keep going, chaps and chapesses. Together we will get there.:j:jBut how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Hi itselliebell, good to see you! Many congratulations on almost 4 months of freedom from smoking!!! :T:T:T You've done so very, very well! What a shame about your BFs mum. It's one thing to have suffered the heart attack, but to then know that even her own husband won't quit in order to help her, she must be feeling so low poor woman! I just hope with all my heart that he doesn't smoke indoors and subject her to all that!!! He sounds like one of those who just doesn't want to know ellie, you've tried, be content with that. He's obviously seen that you have slain the demon and hopefully his wife will as well, we can just hope that he'll soon see the most sensible thing for them both is for him to quit too. We know it's best for him......but!!! Let's focus on you for now because YOU have done yourself proud!!!! :j:jI hope in a little while I can pass on the boosting to other fellow quitters. Everyone seems to be doing so well. Having a support board like this (where you can be a bit grumpy sometimes) does help.
Keep at it all !!
Hi nannon, we never worry about grumpiness, we expect that and can deal with it easily enough, it was more the slight defeatist of your 1st post today that I replied to (but didn't post)! You're right with your paragraph above though as all too soon quitters in progress soon change from becoming those who need help to those who can help others with comparative ease. The feelings you have now are ones that won't last long. Just ride the storm and you'll soon be feeling the real benefits that quitting has to offer. Please do get yourself some extra exercise to what you're used to though, as that'll help with the sleeping as well as releasing endorphins into the brain to make you feel so much happier. Have you read the PM yet?? Come on here and sound off your feelings anytime, it helps so much to give vent to our feelings - good or bad. If you feel like screaming well, we can't help by listening (thank the dear Lord), but get a pillow and scream into that as hard as you wish .....though preferably after you've held it to your face!!
You're right about the positive vibes today, Tricia and let's hope it continues so well.
All the very, very best to you mini quitters you're doing brilliantly!!! :T

Nannon - re smoking being your friend,I have always thought this, I said on the phone when booking the appointment with hypnotherapist, I feel like I'm loosing my best friend (this was before I'd actually given up). She said friends don't give you cancer and make you smell, it helped to start to change my mind. She also said I had never lived my adult life without cigs, which is true, so no wonder we feel as if we miss them.
I do feel glad to be in control again, its quite nice not to have to think have i got my baccy, filters, papers, lighter when I go out and panic if I haven't.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

Hi all,
It is a week or so since I posted. I am still sticking with it, now 3 weeks and 3 days since the last cigarette.
Over the last week, I have dropped from Step 3 (24 hour) patches down to nothing other than a couple of puffs on an empty inhalator on the odd day. I am also making use of the blue/black snake stress toy that came with the quit kit. I still have some step 3 patches around should I need to revert to them anytime.
I had an appointment with the NHS 'Quit Smoking Counsellor' who was very inpressed that I have gone from a 40 per day habit down to nothing but a couple of puffs on an empty inhalator in just three weeks. I was again given the smokealyser test - result 2 ppm of Carbon Monoxide (same result as last week).
I am starting to feel a bit healthier and it is very noticeable how good the bank balance is at the moment!

I have to agree with Sue, it is nice to know who is male and who is female, makes it so much easier lol

In response to what someone said earlier - I have found this thread to be truely inspirational and kept me on the straight and narrow - people really encouraging me and saying lovely personal things to me has given me such a moral boost. It was very rocky emotionally for me the first & second week - however I had some family/work/financial stuff going on all at once and any of those things would be enough to make me feel emotional anyway so it might not have been anything to do with the not smoking.
I really no longer think about smoking except to think "I no longer smoke"but I haven't been out to drink in the evenings this month so far - finances haven't permitted! So I am yet to face that challenge. I do have a party to go to in Feb where a lot of my friends smoke but I think I can handle it and have my oh for support - and will say my mantra that morning & through out the day too.
It seems crazy to think 3 weeks after giving up its no longer on my mind - I know I can't be complacent and I promise I won't - I was really scared before giving up hence longing it out for another dayand I totally could not think about anythng else for the first week it was driving me crazy! The water and eating fruit is definately a life send.
And I also ran for 30 mins without stopping on Sunday! :j:j:j was sooooooooooo proud of myself!
Keep up the fantastic work everyone xDF as at 30/12/16
