Thanks Jammy, I appreciate the advice and good vibes
I do cross stitch to try and keep me busy. I am chewing gum like a nutter and I still keep thinking "fag" LOL.
Well this is day 2.. I'm hoping come Thursday, the cravings will start to subside.
On another note.. downloaded NHS Iphone app.. kinda cool.. apparently I've saved (in virtual money) £7 !!0 -

That's sounding more positive. :T You could concentrate on getting fit and healthy for that half marathon - wow I am in awe as you must have way more stamina than me to even consider that!! Hope you have a good day and keep busy.
Do they only give you one week at a time for prescription meds??Mortgage

I think it will be extra tough for you if you're feeling like you have been forced to quit rather than making that decision yourself and actually wanting to quit. I have been there too with no money and the temptation is still there to go buy some as soon as you're solvent again. Can you talk to a health professional; doctor, cessation nurse pharmacist or some other way you could get some help via NHS with a medication, replacement therapy or whatever and then it will feel more like you're the one being proactive and in control of the situation.
Hi Kiwi
I have thought about getting some NHS help with meds but the prescription will cost me more a week than my smoking habit did (due to having a mate who could get me baccy duty free) and so, I think it would make me financially worse off than when I smoked. I know I should think long term but the reason for quitting was because of an immediate rather than longterm need. Think I'm just going to have to grin and bear it.. eeek.. Roll on the next 48 hours of withdrawl!!
I am focusing on half marathon (only 6 weeks away now). Sometimes just think everything comes at you at once and I I hoped for a little longer with my cigs to help me get through the other side of some difficulties.. but I'll just have to cope fag free won't i? can put the pennies in the jar as Sue said yesterday,. well when the pennies start coming in :rotfl:0 -
That's better nannon!!!!! A much better YOU is talking now...the YOU that CAN do this. I'd just finished writing a reply to you and was about to put in on with everyone else's, but I won't be putting it on as it was too brutal for the way you're now sounding. We are ALL here rooting for you nannon, truly we are, I've seen far too many folk succumb to the evils of fags....keep you health PLEASE!!! Well done on the app! Another good one is Andrew Johnson's. Anything that will help you through HAS to be good you just need that help, we all did in the early times. Don't forget to keep on sipping at water and eating apples and oranges...and please read the PM and remember that the sleep problems won't last long at all. The bereavement side of quitting is exactly like missing an old friend, it's a type of grief, but again....it only lasts for a very short time. Stick with us and stay healthy AND have more cash in your pocket.
We're here for you nannon - please be here with us for YOU!

A warm welcome to the thread, goodgirl80, though I don't know about "chaps"...there's a lot of us gals here too! Oh, you could soon do wonders with your debts if you give up the evil weed, but you could do a whole lot more for your health if you quit and stay free from fags. They're never worth us messing our lives up over. We have a great support system on this thread, make the best of using it. What means are you quitting by? All the best for the 1st Feb! BTW, I've a PM to send you, but you need to let me do so, if it's ok with you, could you 'enable' PMs to be permitted, you could always stop them after if you wish. Thanks.
Sue x
Wow, Sue, what a welcome!I've really got to stop using 'chaps' as a greeting - I do it on work emails too and I work with 99% women! I asked the doctor about stop smoking clinic and he said to make an appointment. I'll try and enable PMs, I'd be glad to receive your information.

Hello Ads (Det D), and well done on having got a whole 6 days away from that last 'orrible fag!!! Be proud of every second, every minute and every day you've not smoked for as it's one heck of a time - especially when you think that as puffers we could barely go 1/2 without soon wanting one! Oh, the spell they had us under....but not any more!!!! I'm delighted to see how much you've saved, but always throw more pleasure in what you've saved for you - on your LIFE! Yours is one of the most positive posts I've ever read during my time on all these 3 thread Abs and I have great hopes for you - just as I know you do. Stay as you are now and you will soon be so terribly proud of yourself!
Congratulations Joker on a whole week FREE from fags!!!! I know just how wonderful that feeling is so I hope you're about as proud as is possible - you deserve it and earned it after all.!! Your pace on the treadmill, as you've already realised, has slowed due to the way your body's reacting to the changes - but once those changes have been made and your lungs and muscles readjust you'll be flying along on the aparatus!!!!! Well done on the water help...along with the blu tak and you're right with what you told your boss - how could he possibly argue against that!!! You can't wait for the breath test and neither can I, just keep away from traffic if possible, you'd be amazed how that affects some folk's readings.
I may have come across a bit brutal there nannon, but please don't allow yourself to be conned into keeping smoking because you enjoy it. Stop first and think "well I'm 2 days into this now - do I really want to start it all over again further down the line?" - because you will, believe one who knows for sure about that much, in fact most of us here do. YOU CAN DO THIS and in your heart of hearts I think you know you can! I wish you so much in life, but above all it's health that I wish you first and foremost. Stay with us on the thread nannon and let's help you through this and please read the PM and help yourself through it, you can you know. Love, Sue x
Well done Jammy, I do believe tact IS your thing...not sure about me though. A brilliant post! :T
Well done, Kiwisaver! I'm so pleased you're being your own person and not allowing the powers that be to dictate how you quit. The main thing for us all is that we quit, now how we do it. Well done on your words to nannon too Kiwisaver! :T
nannon - how about Kiwisaver's, thoughts of seeing a Dr or Cessation Nurse? They too can really boost you and it's so good to see your carbon monoxide readings lower drastically.
All the very best to everyone.

You did it goodgirl and a PMs on it's way!! Well done.
The "chaps" thing is possibly me, our Dentist (a real cyclist) rode down the lane straight towards DH and I back last summer and as he passed he hollared out "thanks chaps!" I won't tell you what I could have hollared back!!!! Took me a while to get used to guys, yet now it's so natural.
Well done on another day closer goodgirl!
