Thanks Penelope! I know how much I hate smoking and how happy I am when I've stopped in the past! I really like being a non smoker and even when I smoked I was embarrassed and would do it in secret a lot! I'm having an early night tonight with a cuppa and rubbish trashy tv in bed so will definitely not be smoking! Will check in tomorrow! Take care all xxTRYING VERY HARD TO START SAVING!

Det new ms I have never been able to jog.........every step thumps in my head and gives me a migraine...........BUT I have copied that plan and may just try it.
Hattie Sorry, but I can't remember how long it's been. Are you on the same patches, have you recently reduced?
2 weeks seems to be a stumbling block.
Reread. reread, reread and read this thread back some more. Have a look at the whyquit links I've posted. Keep busy..........drink lots of water - slow sips............nibble carrots/celery/cucumber...........take 'drag' breaths..........have a bath...........early night with a book...............phone a friend............ANYTHING BUT A CIGARETTE!Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

It's probably been posted somewhere on this thread but . . . I think some of the short tempered symptom we have is nothing to do with the nicotine but rather that our first reaction to something that annoyed us was to go and have a fag. By the time we'd smoked one (or two
) we had calmed down and the whole problem seemed less important. Nothing to do with the fag, just the physical break from the situation.
Now we don't have that break so we have to face the problem head on.. OH and I just don't row. I really hate confrontation in the home and would go some way to avoid it. I'm wondering if stopping smoking has given me some confidence I lacked? Anyway, we had a full and frank exchange of views (as the politicians say) over something tonight and I REALLY wanted a cigarette.:eek:
Just a thought for anyone who hits the same situation.
Hattie I'm not sure how long you have been off the cigs but I did find that the novelty wore off at about 2 weeks. I really concentrated on the whole effort at first but then just wanted to forget it. It's teeth gritting time and you will be out of it soon. Keep strong. :T:T
DNMS I ache just thinking about running! :rotfl::rotfl:
Sally You are doing really well. You've come off the patches very quickly and day 3 of no patches means nasty Nic is in his death throes and fighting desperately for a feed! He'll shrivel to nothing if you can hang on a few more hours.
Have a good night everyone - that's one day nearer to freedom. :j:j:jBut how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Hello everyone, sorry I havnt been around for a while, have been really busy but am very pleased to say Iv passed the 2month mark - yay me :j:j:j yay for Ross as well, next stop for us - 3months!
Sorry i havnt read all the replys (27pages since i last posted ) but just want to say welcome to all the newbies and hello and well done to everyone else!
I went out with the girls last night for my friends birthday. There were 6 of us having a drink in my friends house before we went out and they were all smoking in the house. Il admit I was tempted for a split second but I stayed strong because I really dont want to be a smoker again and I knew if I had one cig that would be it and I would be back to square one! So im very pleased with myself!
Well I better get to bed, im starting back to work in the morning

Well I ended up a chain puffer on the e-cig so gave up on that about a week ago and bought the 25mg patches from the shop when on offer. Went on them yesterday and so far less than 10 cigs (actually about 5) since I quit :j...
Only downside is I'm finding I'm depressed without the cigs. I find a cig (even a dog end) soon fixes that but I just don't want to be dependant on the stinky lollipops so whilst am keeping my stash of dog ends for when the depression gets too much I don't want to be dependant...
How long will this depression last? I am on anti depressants as is - it's just I missed 2 doses last week..
Concentration already improved. I have the pharmacist on Wednesday to get more patches but I'm just a wee bit concerned now about this depression..
Will I ever be able to quit or will it pass quite quickly? After a whoopsie internet bill of £71 last week there's no way I can afford to smoke if I want to debt bust

Look what I posted in October.............after being at Mr. T's
Exactly 13 weeks willpower/this thread
Well, as the title says, it's exactly 13 weeks (to the minute!) since I inhaled my last dose of nicotine.
They say that an ex smoker is worse than a non smoker, don't they? Well, whenever I go into town and people are smoking, it's the smell that hits me! It makes me feel totally sick and walking out from the supermarket yesterday straight into 'the fag fog' I literally was urging!
Tried hard 6 months ago to stop and couldn't manage a single day - the last 3 months however have been relatively easy.
My only advice to anyone reading this thread because they want to stop or to those that are at the beginning of their 'freedom from fags' journey is:
It is possible!
It does get easier!
IT IS WORTH IT!
I've just come across this thread again this morning on a right downer and here here to the above...will come on here when the old d strikes andnot smoke...
May even take up the old C25K soon again? What does everyone reckon? Now the old snow is just about gone it's perfectly possible...I think it'd be good for the depression.... I still have the whole think on my fossilized Ipod...
I got a good book the other day on healthy eating which has helped so much because like on friday I had a really bad head day (spent an hour chain smoking in the psych unit) and like I knew I had to eat properly on saturday so I made myself this yummy veggie meatloaf on saturday
The recipe is
http://www.howto.co.uk/wellbeing/quick-healthy-recipes/liver/#nut-free-nut-roast
it's really yummy and only takes an hour...
Here's to a smoke free day :j...time for some water...thanks for the info on blood sugar...what's the best way to regulate that guys?

No matter what way i look at it 31 hours is a looooong time since I smoked that last cigarette.
I made it through the night, but woke in the early hours 5.30am terrified myself that I would be desperate for a smoke and not be able to get back to sleep. I did!!
I made it through the first morning cup of coffee sans cigarette and had a slice of toast instead, didn't miss that smoke at all.
I made it all the way to work and didn't smoke the three fags I would normally have in the car on the way - I didn't miss them fags at all.
I made it through the 24 hour mark and through to lunch unscathed and I was quite glad I didn't have to walk out to the road in the rain for the lunchtime drag.
Still it was a very long day indeed and it's not over yet, but the real pang that hit me was the 5pm walk back to my car. A fleeting thought came to my head 'Oh it'll be alright, I can have my homeward smoke now.' It was just a little wave somewhere from within, a nauseous, bilious feeling and of course I proceeded on my journey with no cigarettes. I stopped at the shops with not even a thought to even buy any!! :T
I can only describe the way I have felt today as something akin to jetlag after a longhaul flight, slightly woozy, not quite with it, tired and empty. I've been on the verge of a tiredy kind of headache, so have taken a couple of painkillers through the day to take the edge off and not let that develop into anything more severe that might get me down.
I have felt oddly serene and calm; like I have all the time in the world to do things. Because I suppose I do!!! I was always in a rush and used to have targets, I am sure we all do: 'Once I have finished this, I'll have a fag..' I'll just iron five more things and then I'll have a a cup of tea and a fag' or 'I'll do this washing up and then......' Pressure, all the time to get things done faster so I could justify myself stopping to have a smoke.
I have thankfully not felt the need at all to touch the gum I was recommended to have as a backup. :T
Still a good few hours of today to go, so I'll check back in before bedtime and hopefully chalk up the 36 hour mark!!!Mortgage
