Ahem - Massive fail here. Friend brought me some cigs back from holiday for looking after her flat. Managed to sell most of them to friends/family. So DDay has been changed to Wednesday. Absolutely no point in even attempting to quit with cigs in the house.

Have the patches and spray ready to go :)

Wonderful news, Chrissie! You sound so much better now than last week, good to 'hear'. Fingers definitely crossed for the house.

    Sue x

You're doing really well, Blue stay strong! I'd never had what I believed to be 'hayfever' before either...and I was right..it wasn't!! :(
    Sue

All the best with getting the job, Erme, some proper sleep too!

Brilliant news with 9 weeks plus, PIC!!!! :T:T You're right about the next part though, but at least you're prepared. :D

    Sue

You're doing fantastically, NTC and that close to a MONTH that I'd be doing the same and calling it that..almost!!! :T ;) All the best for the weather lasting through the weekend for you.

  • Erme - Good luck for the job :) Really hope you get it!

Paidinchickens - That's brilliant. I can't believe i've been at it for two weeks - the longest I've ever been without a fag since i started smoking lol

NTC I have neither a car nor a house, and therefore not as much debt in the first place :) I'm trying to get myself sorted before I get the expense of running a car and paying a mortgage iyswim? Next mission is to build up as much of a deposit as I can.

Ooops @ Maz But good luck for Wednesday :)

And cheers Sue for the explanation. I tried to take an anti histamine anyway - didn't touch it so you're obviously right!!

Good to hear everyone is having some success, mazza, you could always bin any leftover fags:D

Went to a theme park with DD last week, 2.5 hours each way. Poor DH, stopped once on the way for a smoke. Otherwise, he used his e-cig and fortunately it did not make me feel sick this time. Huddling in the smokers areas at the park, made me glad I'm away from that but got a bit fed up waiting around!

I now regard cigararettes with some curiosity as though they are an old friend whose name I've forgotten.

My dieting friend has been doing spectacularly well, I now realise she's on to something as the warmer weather draws in and I am resigned to about 2 trousers and 3 tops which are loose enough to fit without pulling tight and showing off my new 'bulges'. Last time I was this heavy, I was pregnant:rotfl::eek:

Have also discovered that it's not advisable to drop caffeine all at once. Changed to decaff and had a terrible first day. Head in the clouds, away with the fairies, thumping headache, looking rough. Better today though and still on decaff. I basically drink coffee all day so thought I ought to decrease my daily levels of caffeine.

If I can get all this to come together, the stopping smoking, getting back into shape, decreasing caffeine then I reckon I could save a fair few months of my life and keep my body much more healthy. But it will be a slow process.

Well done to you all, we're all aiming for the same goal but will each hit it at different times.

Just to add over £500 not spent on burning tobacco and paper in the last 7 weeks or so. WOW.

MoneyMaker, why don't you mix your coffee half decaf and half normal? I did this for a while as my OH drinks gallons of the stuff and he didn't notice any difference!

After 2 ops for polyps and still terrible time with sneezing and sinus problems my Dr put me on them too. I was taking them for about 2 years then read an article about antihistamines messing up the immune system so thought I'd see how things went without them. Much better now in many ways! Also better for my thyroid problems! :D

Glad you didn't continue with them, Blue!

Your thoughts on how you view fags now, Money maker just about sums it up perfectly! What wonderful savings - and that's only so far!! Many congratulations!!! :T

If you're still overeating then try a few nuts & raisins at such times, just a small handful and eat them slowly - and don't forget to DRINK WATER when feeling peckish, it honestly WILL help in your fight to get the excess off - so too will additional exercise! :j

    A great idea, karmacookie!

    Sue

Are you still with us, Flis?!!! I know you intended going it alone, but it would be lovely to hear from you as it seems ages since y were last here. Just a one liner will do. :D

To all those lurking, keep going as it is so worth it. Read the posts through if you want to keep busy - and don't forget water and exercise, both are key to quitting AND not gaining weight!!!

    Patches/Oral Spray Day 1

    Well day 1 again :)

More successful. Smoked last cig at 7am with my morning coffee. Not had any major cravings as yet. Had an empty ecig in my hand for something to chew on rather than puffing on it. Should be getting enough nic from patches and spray. Only had one puff of the spray, not cause I needed it, cause I found a bottle in the car and was seeing if it was one that still worked :rotfl:

My danger time will be this evening when the fella is here. But I know I can do it :)

    Day 3 Patches/Oral spray

Doing not bad, had a couple of hairy moments, but still hanging in. House has never been so clean tho, not since I last stopped smoking :rotfl: The hands in water effect really works.

Having a few hairy moments today, so think I'm gonna run myself a hot bubble bath and take my book up with me to chillax a wee while :)
