Sorry haven't been on MSE very much for a few days :(

Been sleeping a lot with new meds and now have tactile hallucinations and like a sore knee from the allotment yesterday :(

Still no word on getting the 'other' e-cig fixed :( - my favourite one....

At least it's sunny but I'm sitting here in pain and like with a creepy crawly feeling all over my face :( and neck and just about everywhere :(

    So yeah - tis me....

    Morning Fellow Quitters :)

I hope this post find you all in good spirits and winning your own smoke free challenge.

Just thought I would check in, smoke free 5 weeks today thanks to Champix and Allen Carr, I am still taking the Champix, I am 3 days away from taking them 8 weeks in total. Still no obvious side affects to report although for the past few nights I have been having some horrendous dreams, really vivid and not very nice at all :( I am going to see the GP later this week for my last 4 week prescription, I do feel I could stop taking them now but will discuss it with him first.

The last 5 weeks have literally been life changing in a lot of ways, stopping smoking has been fantastic, easily the best thing I have ever done for myself by far, now I am free I feel like a bit of a fool though, to think this drug had me hooked for so long, the money lost over the years, the damage to my health the terrible stench, I really feel like a fool, never mind onwards and upwards I said it way back on Day 1 and I will say it again:

"I know for sure, 100% that I will NEVER smoke again!"

This newly found knowledge in a way makes up for all the foolishness I feel. To top it all off my darling wife will be 5 weeks smoke free this Wednesday and has achieved this with nothing but will power so both of us are feeling the benefits of our new healthier lifestyle at the same time. For the first time in a LONGGGG time, life is good and I am determined it will stay that way :)

I am off to the gym at 1pm for a pilates back care class, I am also a very big chap you see, I need to lose around half of my body weight, I have been on a low fat diet now for about 3 weeks, the first week went fab and I lost 8 pounds, then it started to go a bit pear shaped, I gained all of it back in the second week which was a bit gutting, then last week lost 4 pounds, I got an exercise referral from my GP to the local leisure centre and now have a personal trainer ha ha ha ha me with a personal trainer if you knew me you would see why that is sooooo hilarious, anyhow I now attend aerobic gym twice a week and this new pilates course once a week coupled with a more relaxed low fat diet I feel I am now heading in the right direction.

As you can see life for me has changed in a big way and it all began with quitting smoking and although it has only been 5 weeks they have been the best 5 weeks in a long long time :)

It is lovely to read other people stories as well, you new quitters are still an inspiration to me and it is great to hear you are all succeeding, sure there will be bumps ion the road along the way but you should all should give yourselves a huge pat on the back you are doing great, now keep it up! :)

Well that is about it from me for this week, have a great week everyone and keep up the good work :)

  • hi all and well done Mr Underpressure and Mrs Underpressure:D

Just realised today that for some reason my work has taking mse forums off the restrictred list for access which by all accounts is probably a really bad idea for them but a fab result for me :T

Will hit my 4 weeks tomorrow which I am really proud of never ever thought I would have achieved this in actually quite a painless way :)

The sun being out has presented a new trigger for me which is sun wine and a fag :o stuck to the sun and wine instead which was fine in the end but had a little wobble for a while

Anyway hope you are all ok and well done to the quitters :j

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and were able to enjoy the sun.

Sorry to hear about your knee, Erme, I hope that and the other problems soon get a lot better for you.

    Sue

I hope the day's gone well for you, Maz, it'll be good to hear later.

    Sue

Hi Underpressure, how wonderful you and your Wife have both done! :T:T I know what you mean about how you feel when looking back into the past, but just be so very thrilled that you gave it up when you did. Look ahead as looking back does no good at all. Try and envisage the new you that you'd like to see in x amount of time and keep working towards that image, it can be so beneficial in achieving your desires.

You have so much to work at, you also have the trainer who will be with you all the way through and guide you, so there's no reason why you can't get to where you want to be fitness wise too! :j No feeling foolish! That' just for those who don't set out on the journey..whereas you're well on your way!!!

All the very, very best to you and to your dear Wife, you're both doing terrifically!!! Congratulations to you both!

    Sue x

Fantastic work, NTC!!!! :T So, that's almost a whole month then, brilliant news!!! :T:T I don't think a little wobble does us any harm now and again as it helps us remember to never become complacent. You'll soon get used to the sun and the wine and what a combination!
Re getting to the 4 weeks for the first time - isn't it amazing what you CAN do once you really do put your mind to it!! You did exactly that and are well on your way!

    Hi guys

Been a busy bee over the weekend at work - had to stay over last night so didn't get home til 9.00am this morning...so feeling a bit out of synch with myself if you know what i mean.

Well done to the Underpresures & Needstochange - keep on racking up those smoke free days - feels fab doesn't it :D

Good luck & hugs to Maz for today .xx

It's been a fab day weather wise so i've tidied up and put some new borders in the front garden - tackling the back garden tomorrow as another sun fest has been forcast.

Am treating myself to a curl up on the sofa evening after dinner - might even eat outside as it's still warm. Have convinced myself i can't compromise on a garden when we move - doesn't have to be big (unlike my current 320sq ft deck..lol)- but i think i'd go mad without some.
My next door neighbour said he would love to buy it (he rents next door) but they aren't looking at buying for 3 years :( flip - would have saved the expense of estate agent;)

Anyways having it valued hopefully late this week/early next so might just make it on to market for Easter - keep yer fingers crossed peeps & have a great week wherever you are and whatever you do.

    Hugs

I know all these changes in the body are difficult to understand and come to terms with, but we've all messed up our bodies over the years with fags so it's hardly any wonder it's going to take a while to adjust. The main thing is that you're quitting and believe me, even though it's a pain right now it's far more beneficial that you go through this transition period and come out the other side than stick with the fags!!!

All these things are a pest, Blue, but think of what you could be risking suffering with IF you hadn't given up! You've made the right choice, we all do find that after a little while.

{{{Hugs}}} along with virtual tissues :), Sue xx

Hello! thank you for your advice,

I think you have a point re the "hayfever" I've never had it before and it's coincided with the gorgeous weather so I just assumed!

And yeah, I suppose like anything else it gets worse before it gets better. Looking forward to it getting better though!

    Yay to Mazza!!

And a massive well done to Mr and Mrs Underpressure  Inspiration right when I need it!

CTM I had more or less the same wobble - wine plus fab weather and I missed the cigs. Given that I'd also had some good news meant that I also wanted a cig. Go figure. OTOH congrats on the milestone!!

Speaking of inspiration Go you Smileytiger! Wow!! And good luck for the valuation.

Oh and I might have a bit of news. I am officially debt free thanks to a benevolent tax man!!!!! :j

I'm now spending a night without sleep :(...bummer....

And I have ink and henna all over my hands from like hennaing my hair and like refilling an ink cartridge and bashing it at 4am...want to go to bed but feel like I should stay up for as long as possible...

added to which the ward just said my speech was 'pressured' - this means it's fast....:p

Wonder if I'll get the job I've applied for. Hope I do - it's for an optical assistant at a local chemist - 24 hours a week which will be fun plus some study :). Within walking distance :)....heard nothing back yet but you never know.

So yeah this is me....about to have a shower and like get on with some chores...just wish I'd refilled that ink cartridge yesterday lunch rather than middle of the night :p

Hoping meds sort out soon and I get referral to the B clinic at the hospital through soon to sort out my hormones :)

    9 weeks 1 day

    :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

Finding it really easy at the moment but that is when complacency can set in so I am watching the signs carefully.

Going to start the weight issue now :eek:

Still can't face the scales though :rotfl::rotfl:

    PIC x
  • paid in chickens - well done with the 9 weeks thats amazing :T I could do with a peek at the scales too but sadly I know the news is going to be bad. I am hoping this new leap into summer will have me reassess what is rapidly going to become a jelly belly :rotfl:

smileytiger - loving the weather too just wish I could get some time in the garden. Sun usually gone by the time I get home from work and the grump in me is convinced that it will be gone by the weekend :D

blueelephant - congratulations on your debt free status that must feel fantastic - long way for me to go before I can claim that thanks to the house and the car :(

Well thats me hitting 28 days and therefore in my head a month - well almost :o getting less and less cravings now which is fantastic but like chickens the time is coming to have a closer look at the diet or lack of.
Cant wait for Easter and a few days break. With a bit of luck this weather will stick around and I will get to enjoy a bit of it.

keep on quittting all and enjoy the sun:)

erme - look after yourself hun that lack of sleep sounds bad. Good luck with the job looks perfect :)
