You can't be serious Blue! What you're experiencing now is what most of us have had to endure, but truly it is only temporary! Lets face it we can hardly expect anything else after all the time of all that smoke filtering through our sinuses.Stick with it (ughh that sounds 'orrible!) and get rid of everything that either comes down the nose or up from the chest and you'll soon be feeling a whole lot better.
Wonderful news about the cravings...you're well on your way now, Blue!!! BTW, although you need the money you've saved, keep account of it as it really will help, also it's just good further down the track to be able to say "I saved X pounds!!!!!" A little like "feedumall" last week who said that in almost 3 years of quitting she's saved £5000!!
You're doing soooooo well, Blue..brilliant!!! BTW, extra walking will help clear your nasal tubes and sinuses quicker.
{{{Hugs}}}, Sue x
Hi Chrissie, good to hear you're feeling a bit better, and yes, the dancing will make you clearer in the sinuses, same with having a good walk. I suffer terribly with sinuses and wicked sneezing in the morning, but the quicker I can start out on a walk the better I feel. I'm positive it's all due to bally fags though!!!
If a drop of Martini helps you then go ahead and have some, no one here is going to judge you - they have no right, especially when it's for medicinal purposes! I do hope the house soon sells for your sake as with all you've been through lately I'm sure you're right and need and deserve a bit of downtime. :j
All the best, Chrissie.

Guess who's back, back again......
Well as you've probably guessed, I failed (AGAIN!!!) at last attempt.
AAAARGH
The daughter moving back in with her broken leg was enough of an excuse for me to go back on them. She's now starting to wean herself off the aircast after 4 and a half months in cast  So was rather a bad break. Other problems to deal with her atm, like trying to get a diagnosis of HMS and she's in hospital atm getting her psoriasis treated, but those are minor and we'll deal with them. But her moving back home with the broken leg was like a total nightmare. We just clashed constantly. But no excuses, she was an easy get out clause.
Well, got rather peed off at the latest budget rises yet again. So here I am ready to give it another go on Monday. No point over the weekend as I might have a few wee tipples.
So I have about 4 weeks of patches and nicotine mouth spray in the house, so will probably go along with them for a couple of weeks and see how i get on. Just mad at myself for giving in so easily after the initial struggles of the last time.
Fingers crossed this is the time for me
Sueeee how's the shoulder doing?4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Good afternoon all. I'm on day 4, I'm really suprised at how good I'm feeling. Not mood swings, not even feeling many pangs atm. And my period is due , what's going on?lol. Fingers and toes crossed it stays like this.
I have an app on my phone, it says so far I've not smoked 80.73 cigaretts! (ofcourse this is calculated over a 24 hour period so I think they average it out) Amazing.
I hope you're all feeling well. We can all do this.Faced up to my debt Jan 2012.0 -
Hiya Maz!! It's so good to see you back with us and, I hope...rearing to go! Your poor lass, that must have been so painful for her, especially when she first broke it. Poor HMS (whatever that stands for) with the psoriasis, I suffer with that too and as well as being terribly itchy it can also be painful.
So, you're all set with the patches and nicotine mouth spray and plenty of determination and willpower so that you make it through this time! If you don't...just think of ALL that cash you'll be giving to Cameron and his cronies! It doesn't bear thinking of!!!
Come on Maz, this is the time and we're here to help you through...so no excusesand do try to keep away from any tipples while you're vulnerable.
Here's the Silk quit meter to help you through..also below that is the Quitters Pledge. BTW, I had the op on the shoulder in October and it's much better since physio too. Still having physio for the hand, but not too much changing there.

Quitters Pledge"Today I promise not to smoke any cigarettes, tomorrow - if I wish - I may do."Renew the pledge every morning on waking. This helps in not making quitting feel as though you're planning something lifelong, it helps trick the mind in taking it all one day at a time. The lifelong part you determine for yourself when you're ready.
Hi welshone...aren't you doing fantastically, especially given it's the TOTM!!! Marvellous! :T You obviously picked the right time for you and have great determination and willpower which is what quitting is all about. Just don't ever become complacent, keep up with what you're doing as it's working so VERY well!!There's the Silk Quit meter above if you want to keep tabs on what you haven't smoked and how much you're saving.
All the very best!!!

Great news about the shoulder Sue! Keep up the good work on the physio! Glad to hear things are improving.
HMS - Hypermobility Syndrome. She's dislocating all over the place and it's getting worse with age. Really needs to see a rheumatologist for a diagnosis. Mentioned it to her Orthapaedic surgeon and he said she'd grow out of it *bang head off brick wall!* She's 21. But it's one of those things that docs don't like diagnosing.
Major knee dislocation last may/june. Broken ankle October. Major knee dislocation (opposite knee) March. Elbows and wrists having minor pops out and in. Especially with the crutches when she was non weight bearing.
The tar treatment for psoriasis is going well, should be out on Monday ready to start the UVB treatment at local hospital, thank god it's there. They put her into a hospital miles away, when we have a brand spanking new hospital across the road lol.
Anyhoo, I'm here and I'm ready to go. Going to try and busy myself on Monday by going to mum's n stuff, she doesn't smoke so, should be good for monday anyhoo4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
=Sue-UU;51988305]You can't be serious Blue! What you're experiencing now is what most of us have had to endure, but truly it is only temporary!
I don't really mean it, but I've had the most horrendous day. My normal routine [STRIKE]is[/STRIKE] was get up Coffee&cig, get to work Coffee&cig, morning break Coffee&cig, and I didn't eat anything until 1pm at lunch, if I didn't forget that is. This was ordinary and didn't bother me at all. recently I've had headaches, so have been drinking more water. I appear to have gone off coffee a bit too, I still like it, but I don't appear to want it as much - maybe champix takes the edge off that too?
Result is, given both caffeine and nicotine are stimulants, I'm dead on my feet for the past few days. This morning however, my throat and tongue felt like someone had sandpapered it, I was bloated and generally feeling a bit nauseous, I felt dizzy and lightheaded and couldn't concentrate for toffee. Then someone offered me a biscuit or two as they'd been baking last night. It was like flicking a switch.
Can anyone tell me, does this quitting lark affect your blood sugar?
*rolls eyes*

Keep on keeping on et al
Blue xx0 -
Hi Daz! Isn't it just amazing what you can achieve once you've stopped smoking; all that cash to call your own makes a huge difference, a health difference no less!
Sue x
Blue, firstly, when writing in between quoted speech, could you possibly make your replies either far brighter or bold as I nearly missed the lot thinking all you'd written was
"Keep on keeping on et al"!!! Thanks Blue!
It really is vital that you have breakfast, especially with Champix! Most others who have been on it report feeling sick and dizzy..then it comes out that, like you, they hadn't eaten either! So have food before taking the pills.
Yes, your sugar levels are most certainly affected after stopping so do allow for that to help you through, again eating regularly will help a lot. See below for more info.
With all you say about how you're feeling, some of it may be due to Champix, but some is definitely because of stopping the fags. Nicotine speeds up the metabolism to an unnaturally high level, which means that without the nicotine, your metabolism slows down to adjust. This causes your energy levels to drop, but it's only temporary and will soon return to normal. For now, boost your energy levels by avoiding sugary and processed foods. I know I say it a lot - but drink plenty of water! Have snacks consisting of seeds, nuts and dried fruit, don't have too many at a time, but a few 3 or 4 times a day do help. Take a short, brisk walk when you're feeling tired and take a break from what you're doing, it honestly does help to divert the concentration to something totally different. Then relax and always make sure you eat a good healthy breakfast which will keep you going through the morning. Try a similar healthy lunch and so forth. Your body WILL right itself Blue, just give it a chance.
Sue x
Your poor lass has certainly been through the mill, Maz, I do hope she's soon ok or much better.
All the very best for a great start on Monday! BTW, congratulations on your terrific weight loss!!! :T
Sue x
Sleep well, everyone and have a wonderful smoke-free weekend soaking up the sun.

No worries re writing in quoted text Sue - Sorry!!
Thanks for all the tips - I just didn't realise the impact it was going to have on my body!! I've never made it this far before - normally caved in at about day 3so it's taking some getting used to. Never been good at drinking water (or understanding the cues for food normally - I messed my metabolism up years back) so any time i felt I "wanted" something, I smoked. I never knew really if it was hunger/thirst/I actually wanted a fag!
Also it meant that when I got up for a cigarette and I looked at the clock and it was lunchtime - it meant I should eat too! Now I'm ignoring the smoking cues, my eating habits are erratic, especially when I can't ignore it I go and get crisps/chocolate. ::headdesk::
I appear to have acquired hayfever out of nowhere too, but that's unrelated. Strange though.0 -

Don't worry about the writing between quotes, Blue, it's fine so long as you can click on B R to make the red stand out more <-- see the difference between the 2?
Anyway onward; I think the majority of us would have confused huger and/or thirst with wanting a fag, it really used to puzzle me and most of my days were spent with having a fag alone to satisfy such feelings - until our evening meal!! Stupid knowing so much different these days - but it wasn't so well publicised back then.
I know all these changes in the body are difficult to understand and come to terms with, but we've all messed up our bodies over the years with fags so it's hardly any wonder it's going to take a while to adjust. The main thing is that you're quitting and believe me, even though it's a pain right now it's far more beneficial that you go through this transition period and come out the other side than stick with the fags!!!
I'm sure you'll find the hayfever is related, but is not hayfever but your sinuses working in overdrive!Again, it's all down to having smoked for years. See how it goes as it may well come better after a while, but if it becomes a real pest, see your Dr.
All these things are a pest, Blue, but think of what you could be risking suffering with IF you hadn't given up! You've made the right choice, we all do find that after a little while.
Keep going, Blue and hang on to the pride that giving up fags brings us, you're doing your body a tremendous favour, stay with it, it's sooo worth it, truly!
BTW, you don't need to drink just water alone, using squash to flavour it is fine, it just helps fill you up to stop eating so much.
