I had a crisis on Saturday. Got my beloved fancy e-cig wet on way to allotments. Had 3 of my friend's rollies. Hated them. Made me feel sick. So glad I had my back up when I got home. Then like middle of the night couldn't get my back up to work. Wasn't till I found the inhalator managed to get some sleep :)

Anyhow waiting on hearing if they can give me a refund/new posh one if not I'll have to get £20 jobbie from the states as back up....The other one switches on when you put the battery in then it dies :(.

NO nic is NOT an option right now. Not confident enough...and it was just the end of a very bad week...

Only pluses are that I'm off the jags and like I've lost 2lbs in weight this week and yes, I have been eating ...

I gave up Smoking on No Smoking Day on 14th March Thanks to the Easyway Allan Carr Book without using Nasal Spray but i still have it as back up just in case. What i have noticed is my Flat absolutley STINKS of Stagnant Nicotine i have tried airing out but it smells like an old ashtray very Smokey! i dont notice it on the clothes so much my smell and taste have come back with a vengeance i have put on weight but i know i can lose it Spring Cleaning the Stained Ceilings and Walls!!:p I dont want to turn into an anti-smoker but i must say i am amazed why i smoked for so long with minimal enjoyment with the impact that it has on health and the environment you live in i feel alive again more energy i sleep better i am much less stressed giving up has been like waking up after a very long nightmare GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE KICKING THE HABIT YOURE WORTH IT!!
  • Daaaaay 20 in the no smoking house :D:D

Managed to give away my emergency pack of fags today :T the recipient was very grateful and shot to the scanky bus shelter for a free fag. I felt momentarily guilty but managed to get over that when realised how much I wanted to get them away from me. Before you yell at me too much she smokes 3 a day so a packet lasts her a week :T I would love to see her stop but she is 22 and invincible ;)

thebrink I know exactly what you mean, I do think its going to take a full redecoration and new carpets before the stench goes here. The nice thing is it makes me angry with myself for doing this to my lovely home so more reason to stay off the horrors.

Erme well done on your 2 lbs loss but how very rude of you to give it me :rotfl::rotfl:

Money Maker breath again :) im back loving baileys :D coffee still cant do though:o

3 weeks for me tomorrow its flying in now but not a walk in park yet.
Easier no doubt every day but the habit of near enough a lifetime does not just disappear overnight I guess

Keep at it everyone you know it makes sense

    No nicotine since 4 Feb! That's 6 weeks and 4 days.:j

Have succeeded with the help of Champix and a determination that I never want to have nicotine ruling my life again.
Have had two pairs of curtains dry cleaned, one pair almost stood up on its own from the layers of nicotine. All clothes washed or liberally dosed with Febreeze. House smells much better and I don't stink either.
My first week's treat was a cheap bunch of tulips and some expensive hair conditioner, both of which I would never have previously bought.
I have indulged myself with foody treats for six weeks on basis that I'm being kind to myself but that stopped on Saturday when I realised I'd had not one but two Kit Kats on Friday. No wonder my clothes won't fit.
Hope anyone struggling will take heart and know that there's help out there, here especially from Sue and everyone, and that it is SOOOO worth it.

Hi all, can I please join you. Im 27 and have smoked for 12 years, and smoke between 25-30 superking fags a day. Not good.

I went to a stop smoking meeting last night and now have a 24 hours patch on and an inhalour.

Feeling very positive so far. :)

Im telling myself I'm quitting and not giving up as that makes it seem Im missing out on something. Helps the mindset somewhat by elimenating the words 'giving up' if that makes sense.

  • Hello!

I've been trying to work out today if it's been nearly a week or over a week since I quit lol, I suppose it's nearly, as I had my last actual cigarette at Wednesday lunchtime. But I had my last "official" cigarette last Monday evening, and I've had two since. Sorry for the ramble - I think I'm going to have to go with the last actual one :)

Welcome to Welshone27. The not "giving up" something is actually quite common - I think It's touted in Allen Carr's Easyway book amongst others and to be fair, rationally it's true. We're not technically "giving up" anything :) Good Luck! I've only been posting here a few days but the support, experience and knowledge is wonderful. I'm sure more experienced quitters will share their wisdom with you too :)

Part of what I'm finding difficult at the moment is that I live with mty parents and my dad smokes in the house :S I've tried telling him even before I quit to not smoke inside to no avail, so that's a no go. Oh and for various reasons never really knew I smoked. (seems really strange to type that in the past tense though!)

The other thing I'm finding difficult is that I'm becoming a bit anti social. Previously at work, I would wander out to the habit hutch in my break with my friends and have a natter etc, I'm too scared to go at the moment as I'm afraid I'll give in to temptation, so I sit at my desk with a book!! Hopefully this won't last long, and i'll be able to join them for a chat without smoking soon!

Oh and random I've noticed something, I've stopped waking up in the morning with my teeth clenched together (I think I teeth grind) and my jaw doesn't ache. Unexpected result!

Still finding it tough though - I forgot to get the next lot of tablets - will see Doc this evening but yesterday and today I have been without the champix!

    I can do this....

A very warm welcome, Welshone! Good to see you here and ready to stop, you tell yourself what you like, as long as it leads you down the right path with a good mental attitude, so be it. Going along the same lines, try the Quitters Pledge below!
    Quitters Pledge
"Today I promise not to smoke any cigarettes, tomorrow - if I wish - I may do."
Renew the pledge every morning on waking. This helps in not making quitting feel as though you're planning something lifelong, it helps trick the mind in taking it all one day at a time. The lifelong part you determine for yourself when you're ready.

Also Welshone, save the money you would otherwise spend, either by popping it in your SPC pot or separately, it helps keep you motivated and soon mounts up! Keep talking and telling us your feelings, it really helps to pop it down on paper.

    All very best wishes,

    Sue x

Wonderful news, Loanranger! Another quitter in the ranks is always good to hear about. Keep it up - for life! A very good idea to treat yourself too, it helps let you know you're so worth it! :)

What a shame you were temporarily lured back to the fags, Erme, all the best in keeping off them!!!

    Sue x

Brilliant work and attitude NTC, you are doing so VERY well.

    Sue x

Marvellous thebrink!! A thorough spring cleaning will make you feel so great about yourself and your home. Well done and stay free from them for life!

Hi Blue, almost missed you as we posted at the same time. You're not the only one who has said they became a little anti-social in the beginning; in a way I think it's sensible as we don't want to put ourselves in harms way, so not necessarily a bad thing, but you'll get over that as you grow stronger.

A bit mean of your Dad, but who knows, you may ever win him over and convert him! Wishful thinking maybe, but you never know.

Check back on your posts to see when you stopped, then you can pop the correct time on the Title Bar of your posts and the means you're quitting by; it's always a great help to me and to those lurking and wondering which is the best way.

    Keep up the brilliant work!

Wow, we are still all doing great!

Just thought I would come out of lurkdom and let you all know I have reached 8 weeks :)

I too have put on weight, purely because I seem to like the taste of everything! :D I did count calories yesterday (I was being good and only had two mini milkyway things as snacks) and that came to 1200 cals. Having physio at the mo for my elderly body! (although he said I am still trim):j

I am really enjoying being a non smoker now, just getting on with things rather than '' I'll just have a fag'', and it never getting done!

    Hi guys

As Spicyprawn says we're all doing well at the moment and long may it continue:j

I have the worst cold in the world today having spent all last night tossing n turning and eyes /nose streaming. Dragged myself into work and then managed to bunk of for 4 hours and go back home and sleep - but am back to finish the late shift as there is no one to cover for me:( - thankfully it's not busy today - if i'd had this cold last week - i could well be unemployed;)
I'm not really a person who gets ill often - but when i do it knocks me flat kinda thing. I can't believe that previously i would have smoked through something like this without batting an eyelid - even though my throat is swollen and sore and i'm coughing rather enthusiastically now and then.
Have had some good old lemsip - and fortunately am off until Fri lates after today so only got 4.5 hours to muddle through.

Keep on being smoke free all & have a good week

    Chrissie .xx
