Hi there Spicy and well done on having having got to a GREAT 8 weeks FAG-FREE!!!! :T You've done so well and deserve those mily ways...though are you certain they were a whopping 1200 calories!!!!! IF they really are THAT much I'm never having another! Check them again, Spicy, I reckon they're more like 200!

What a lovely comment from your Physio!Mine never says things like that, mind you is she did I'd be out of there pronto!!! :rotfl:Your last sentence says exactly how most of us soon start to feel, absolutely loving the fact that we took the plunge and did that mammoth thing we thought we were not capable of doing! :j Keep it up, Spicy and remember ~ no matter how old you are ~ you were never too old to give up fags!!!!! :j BTW, the way things have been going no doubt you're the new 40 something, hang onto that.

oooh dear Chrissie, that sounds a really nasty col, one you'll be so glad to shake off quickly! Thank goodness you were able to bunk off and get some much needed sleep. Like you, I was one of those idiots who would still smoke regardless of colds, we must have been totally puggled! :( Not these days though, we had the courage to say "No more!" 18 weeks tomorrow eh, Chrissie, marvellous news and congratulations to you!!!! :T

Admire your handiwork throughout the house, enough to make anyone feel much better....and think of the next time you do your tap dancing, so much to look ahead to. BTW, you practically sold your house to me last week as I too am a sucker for lovely views. Ah, if only, but not able to and that's that. Get well soon Chrissie and hope you soon get your buyer!

Hey Sue, thank you! Hehe this is a fine example of me not being able to explain properly :D The milky way things are 77cals each and the 1200 cals was for everything I had yesterday including my lovely cups of tea. Not really sure about this whole calorie thing I have been reading about (and my mum has said about) but thought I would see what the fuss is about.
I may have misunderstood the last bit of your post so forgive me hehe! I am 25 but my body at the mo feels more like a 90yr olds:eek:

Hi Spicy, aha! I see what you mean now, possibly my fault as if I'd read your post excluding the bracketed part, which of course I should have done, what you meant made sense! :o I thought you sounded like a 70 something the way you were speaking yesterday, not that there's anything wrong with that....unless of course you're a 25 year old lass!

Moving swiftly on, thank goodness you have the good sense to quit whilst you're still very young. Well done Spicy, but seriously shouldn't you be upping those calories to around the 1900! Must take care of that more youthful frame. :D

Another day closer to your goal everyone, keep telling the psychological Nic that he will NOT win! For those lurking and wondering - come on in and put yourselves to the test - it can't hurt to at least have a shot, you may even surprise yourselves! Most of us agree that it's so much easier than we'd ever have envisaged. Go on, give it a try! :D

    Morning All :)

Just though I would check in, so much to read you all sound as though you are doing brilliantly, well done all of you, you are such an inspiration I love reading all your posts and hearing how everyone is doing :)

4 weeks 2 days for me today, still cannot believe it but am so pleased to have finally quit. It does not bother me at all now life has near as dam it returned to normal I just do not smoke any more, being around other smokers does not bother me either, I look at them now and feel sorry for them, I look at my mother and some friends that smoke and find myself hoping they "see the light" and quit as well, I do not say anything to them I don't want to be one of those lecturing ex smokers. Still it would not do if we were all the same, I can however live in hope, my mu for example has smoked all her life she is in her late sixties now, for as long as I can remember she has had a cough, now I don't mean a normal everyday cough this is the most annoying continuous cough I have ever heard! She has been to the docs many time had loads of tests done there is nothing horrid lurking, it is just a real bad smokers cough yet quitting never even occurs to her, I have mentioned it over the years but it always felt a bit, pot and kettle as I was a smoker. She is coming to stay with us at Easter so I am going to see if I can gently get her to read the Allen Carr Easyway book maybe that will give her a nudge in the right direction :)

Anyhow enough rambling from me, great work everyone keep it up :)

    Have a great week.

Hi there Underpressure and so good to see you back and so thrilled at your achievement so far!!!! :T:T You've really done extremely well and are proving to yourself that you don't need nicotine in your life any longer - amazing!!!

A real shame about your Mum and she may well never give it up, but if you do leave the AC book lying around it just might entice her to at least have a go. She'd feel so much better if she could get rid of that cough, I know I did.

I'm dearly hoping our Son & his Wife will stop (he promises they will even though I've never broached the subject), but it'll have to be the right timing for them. Still, thank Heavens they don't smoke much, some consolation at least...but who led him into it!! He says it wasn't me and it was only him being stupidly weak-willed at College; whatever, I don't like it.

All the very best with life and all the achievements you're aiming for, Underpressure, you truly deserve it! :D

Have you guys seen the Budget? 37 pence per packet - That's properly eyewatering!! I think I did this just in time, and George Osbourne has given me something else to add to my "reasons I am doing this" list...

Still finding it difficult, just taking it a craving at a time. Went to the doc yesterday to tell him I'd started to take the tablets he prescribed ages ago and that I needed a new set and that I'd been off the fags for a week. You should have seen his face! He never thought I'd actually do it lol. Told me I'd made his day. Felt very good after that. I finally confessed to one of my closest friends yesterday and she'd had more or less the same reaction. It seems people had me down on the "lifer" list. To be fair to them, so did I!! Just goes to show though if I can bite the bullet, absolutely anyone can!!

    Love and hugs to everyone

Hi Blue and good to see you still plodding on - at least that's the way it may feel to you, but you're actually taking leaps and bounds in the non-smoking world! :T Be truly proud of each day that goes passed as it's a major step forward - as your Dr so clearly realises, friends and family too!

At least you're not able to say you only gave it up due to the rise!! :j You gave it up for YOU and your health and pocket. When each craving comes along..switch your mind immediately onto other things in your life..old memories...dreams for the future...anything to help make it easier. You then become so used to doing it that the cravings just float by. Remember, it's no longer real cravings for nicotine that you have it's the psychological ones that you're now dealing with and in time they'll be banished as you think less and less about them and fags; remember most of your life has been taken up with when to have the next one - NOT ANYMORE!!!!! So kick it away from you and move your mind onto beautiful things..things that matter...not ones that don't!!

Are you saving the cash you'd otherwise have spent on them? If not and you're able then why not do so as it gives you so much incentive to watch it (in a jar or similar) mounting up and knowing that amount of tobacco is NOT in your body!!!!

Very well done indeed, Blue!!! You've so much to be proud of so hold your head up and be delighted at all you've done..and don't forget to look ahead to that little treat this weekend!!!

Hiya Denis and good to hear from you! 37p, and the rest in your pocket :j, is a GREAT thing to be grateful of...lets hope others close to you will just maybe now take the plunge rather than chuck more money at Osborne (reminds me of dracula ) and his cronies!!!

I'm not at the moment - still have some debt so am going to be throwing the cash at that until it's gone - not long to go now. Then I'll start saving it :)

Today has been better than expected, I haven't had a "proper" craving all day! Proof the tablets are working I guess. Here's to another day.

On the other hand, I appear to have acquired a very sore throat and stuffy sinus'. Oh and random production of mucus. Ew. I think I prefer the smoking!! Hoping this is just a phase :S

Nah - your just coming out in sympathy with me:rotfl:

Am feeling better - although like Blue still have a sore throat and stuffy nose - have cold martini to drink & olbas oil on a tissue - so i'll survive. I think the martini is very therapeutic(& before anyone panics i hardly ever drink - just fancied something cold & it was in the fridge:D) and strangely soothing. I am a lightweight tho when it comes to alcohol 1 glass and i'm already thinking bed n sleep;)
Dragged myself to tap dancing last night as i'd missed a couple of lessons due to work :( - and actually felt better afterwards perhaps all the leaping around helped to shake off the cold a bit.
Back to work tomorrow 2pm - oh joy - have 100 residents this weekend - so i shall be a tad busy i think - am looking forward to handing in my notice when our house sells & taking my 6 month time out. I'm starting to convince myself i deserve a bit of downtime as i've worked my butt off since OH hasn't been able to work.
    Gosh i'm rambling on aren't i - must be that martini:D

Anyways - stay smoke free guys
I'm so glad i wont be forking out an extra 37p a pkt:eek:
    Hugs to all
    Chrissie .xx
