The Giving Up Smoking Thread - Part 3

Interesting....after having less nicotine yesterday pm (was outside doing Sabbath reading) and eating sweets thought this time about the same time 'what was I really craving' so got one of those mega strong tiny mints (far better IMO than the sugar free - still hardly any cals but a lot more natural). It may just help you get through a craving or something or give you breathing space to cope. I want to keep the amount of liquid I'm vaping down to a level I'm happy with (maybe I'm setting myself up for failure?) and like I monitor all this (like a hawk). Yesterday it was something like 2.8ml (though I did go to bed early and I had church where I can't really vape obviously/it's restricted) and today by lunch despite getting up in the middle of the night it was still okay....
I guess it's a bit like using NRT products you take as and when. You have your eye on how much you want to use them per day and aim to stick to that though obviously a bit more nicotine v a cig - well the nic should win hands down. So it's important not to be too rigid. the only differences between the e-cig and pharma NRT is that one is recreational though can be also used to quit cigs and one is medicinal. That's it in a nutshell. Also it's a lot more heads you win, tails you lose with pharma products. I personally am of the view (and I know of others who share this opinion) that the reduction on NRT is too fast. How many of us know folk that are still on the gum/lozenges/inhalator a year or more later? Don't intend to go quite that long but still feel 3 months and you're only just beginning to get to the time to reduce. Not 6 weeks!!!!
That's why I upped my strength for a wee while the past day or two....just to get me over the 'first thing in the am feeling' without feeling I was missing out.
I still wonder if I'll be able to lower my strength in 10 days or not or if after this weekend that's pushing it a bit too much...

Hello all
On my way to two weeks now and yes it has got easier. Quite a few wobbly moments over the weekend but just because I think it does not mean I will do it

Erme Im sorry you find the thread boring. I doubt I say anything of interest particularly but I do know its been a lifeline for me in the past few weeks. Could you not just ignore the people who wind you up and enjoy the ones who dont?29th Feb Quit Day :j0 -
Hi guys
Just a quick post have returned to the land of normality from my hectic girlie weekend.:D
Have had a fab time - loved Liverpool - saw the sights, rocked the Cavern Club - went lambanana spotting.. - all done smoke free & with lots of enjoyment.
Hope everyone is still going strong with their quit journey - will have to have a read through and catch up.
Stay strong
Hugs to all

That's good going and a real test of ones resolve managing to stay of the smokes on a weekend away like that. :T
I'm afraid that Lambananas had completely passed me by, thankfully mr google helped me put with that one. Funny considering all the sheep we have that nobody has copied the idea here, I might start a new craze with some Lambkiwis or something. :rotfl:
Well done all of you who are still managing to stay off the smokey joes.Mortgage

Hi Guys,
I would just liek to say well done to you all for having the bottle to even attempt wht is a very difficult journey.
However, I would like express a word of caution about making too many life style changes at once.
Stopping smoking if difficult enough without you guys putting yourselves under extra pressure with dieting or a new exercise regime for example.
This adds extra stress to the body and mind and may adversly impact the goals you are trying to acheive.
Please don't put yourselves under too much presure to try and acheive too much at once!
I waited until past 6 months until I started running again. I will be starting gym/home free weights over the next few week now I have hit a year (hands permitting, I have developed joint problems).
Don't go full throttle at something new either. Ease yourself into gently.
Kind Regards,
Daz.Was in debt £23k- Not now (12/07-12/10):T

Hi all
I just wanted to say hello because I haven't been here in a few daysI've also been very ill with flu and now realise that all the times that I thought I had flu in the past wasn't really flu - this most definitely was, I actually thought I was dying on Sunday afternoon! I'm happy to say that I am slowly getting better
I am even more pleased to tell you that I'm still not smoking and actually hardly think about it - when I do think about it I smile to myself
I'm on my 12th day now but it seems longer to be honest, it's already become a way of life for me
Good luck everyone and keep it up, it gets easier every hour and every day

Hello all! What a great thread. I would just like to say that I am now smoke free. It is only day 2 at the moment and I have decided to go cold turkey but so far so good - apart from being a bit moody and not sleeping very well last night!
Keep up the good work everyone!0 -
Well done Jonny - keep going
I found it very useful in the beginning, to count off each hour and check off what good stuff you are doing for your health using a timetable such as this whyquit.com/whyquit/a_benefits_time_table.html
Wise words DazThank you x
