All I was asking was the language problem in trying to understand the E-cig route,I think the only way to fully understand it is to buy a kit.Which won't happen for me since I am free of nicotine.

I can't understand though why you call yourself vapers and not suckers, after all you suck before you vape.

Denis, unless you never eat tomatoes (even tomato ketchup) aubergines, potatoes & many other vegetables, you aren't nicotine free as they all contain traces of nicotine.

Oh & the last thing anyone using an e-cig is a "sucker" - far from it :D E-cig users inhale a very pleasant refreshing vapour - hence the term vaping :)

Denis, I still think you haven't quite grasped that nicotine isn't the harmful ingredient in cigarettes, it's the tar & the 1000's of other chemicals. My own GP said she was more than happy for me to be using e-cigs & that nicotine was no more harmful than caffeine - hence why the stop smoking clinics hand out nicotine patches & gum & you can buy both from any supermarket :)

    Guys

I really need your help. Iv'e been trying to quit for approx 6 months now. I need majour surgery and can't have it untill I'm smoke free for approx 2 months. Iv'e tried e cigs, patches, gum, spray, cold trueky and when I stopped for 3 years I stopped through reading the easyway book. Re-read it again but it didn't work for me again so went to the sessions. Been to 4 now and stopped on Friday but failed again today and started again. I'm sat here in tears at a loss as to what to do :( everything Iv'e tried hasn't worked for me.

I also want to have a family, something I can't do until I'm smoke free. I'm pulling my hair out as to how I can stop. The desire to smoke just isn't going. I hate myself for smoking but feel so empty without them :(

Didn't want to read and run - you seem to have tried most things and not found something that works for you.
I would make a list of all the things you could do if you didn't smoke and stick it somewhere really obvious like on the fridge - you have to keep reminding yourself why you NEED to quit.
I would recommend your local stop smoking clinic - if only to go over all the options again that are available and for you to have a good chat/cry with someone who will understand face to face.

Most importantly don't give up giving up - however hard or bleak it seems at the moment .
Wishing you all the best in whatever you decide.
Feel free to pm me anytime if you want to 'talk' things out - i do check my inbox regular.

    Hugs

Do you smoke many per day?

Have you tried Champix ( don't really want to endorse drugs of any kind - but they do work for some people - including me - however they are not suitable for anyone with a history of depression or anxiety or mental health issues)

Giving up is all about changing your mindset, and although you think you really want to give up - it'll only happen when you actually believe it.

The only other thing i can say is try to do just one day at a time - even if you only manage every other day with either no cigs or less cigs that's a step in the right direction.
If you feel like you're constantly trying and in your opinion failing to stop completely you may be giving your mind sub conscious re enforcement that quittting is too hard.

I hope some of this makes sense - take small baby steps and praise yourself for every day when you would normally smoke say 20 - you only have 19. I think you've got into a cycle of negative thinking which is actually hampering your efforts.

These are only my ramblings and opinions and are meant to help, so please don't take anything i say the wrong way, as i want to help

you'll get there hun - little steps give yourself tons of pats on the back for every cig you choose not to smoke. the more confidence you build up for yourself the easier it will get.

Try setting youself some mini goals that you know are achievable - not everyone can just stop & that doesn't make you a failure or mean there's something wrong - it just means you have to be a bit more canny and take it slowly.

lots of luck - and keep in touch
reallymust get to bed up at 6.30am and have a 14 hour day tomorrow:(

Yeah if you have mental health probs I'd have thought having tried all the pharmaceutical methods the e-cig would be best.

Try a few different ones.... see what you like? Maybe try upping your nic/ml concentration. I had to do that as I make no secret of it. I have severe mental health probs. The only route for me has been the e-cig - gradually reducing my nic/ml concentration after a few months (And I mean gradually!!!)...this has been the only thing that hasn't brought on symptoms after a few hours.

You can't say you've 'tried the e-cig' if you've only tried one at one strength with one flavour. Please give it another shot....

If the link that lotus has so kindly posted gets removed by the bots then please go over to the e-cig thread which is at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1243625 and there you will find us friendly lot who can give you all the help you need...

Sorry for late reply...Have a bug and went to bed early...

    Hugs hun

Only 3ml yesterday (despite vaping about 2ml of them before lunch) @ 22mg :j...yay go me :D.....

(know I should really put this on the e-cig thread but I'm just illustrating a point)....

Just proves what you can do with e-cigs baring in mind I started @ 36mg 6 months ago...the slow horse wins the race...and I tried to cut down the rollies gradually but never succeeded...... Not as well as I'm doing on the e-cig. Now I know more about cigs I think it's cos of the 101 other nasties in cigs that keeps folk addicted....

If I'm deluded I'm not bothered...I know of even media types who are on the e-cig and endorse them... (mentioning no names as I don't know if it's public yet or not)....

Whatever way you decide to give up smoking will be the best way for you. Keep on keeping on trying to quit and use whatever means necessary to help you achieve your goal. Good luck with it!
